Thanks Dr Tsang. This kind of makes sense to me. Reason being, the area just underneath the cheekbone is still tender - almost a week later. The Dentist had to provide additional numbing medication during the crown prep and she also did a filling on #12 during the same visit. There is an area near #12 that feels really strange when I lightly press on the cheek.
I had a gum infection about a month ago and the dentist put me on antibiotics and i took the full course. I thought that had got rid of the infection because i didn't have the vile taste in my mouth that i had.
I worrying today because i can taste the taste i had when i had the infection. The other day i kissed and was intimate with a man and i thought it had cleared so i didn't worry about the infection that day.
My daughter had her wisdom teeth out three weeks ago. She seemed to do quite well til this past weekend. She began having some pain where one of the lower wisdom teeth was removed. She had to leave for college on Sunday and it didn't seem any worse than Sat. But, by Sunday night when she arrived at school, her face had swollen up and she was having puss drain from her gum. She called her oral surgeon this morning.
I have decay under crown and dentist wants to remove tooth but I also have a bridge next to this and the supporting tooth for this has roots going sideways due to an impacted tooth in gum line. This may become unstable after extraction and i end up with a large gap . what is the alternative. I have no pain under crown but gum is soft due to the decay.
Though my wisdom teeth have started growing, they have not yet grown past the gum (I am 20 years old). My right side is fine.
Is this a result of my wisdom teeth growing even further? Or is it an infection? I cannot close my mouth without biting into it and I think the blood may have come from me biting down in my sleep. I can't even eat without tearing up. The adjacent molar also aches, and I am scared that if it was an infection that it may be spreading. Any insight would be appreciated!
I often have gum soreness around the teeth and sometimes bite the gums. Other than the gum problems, I have no pain or problems with the wisdom teeth. I broke one wisdom tooth several years ago and had it pulled. Of the 3 remaining teeth two have fillings, one of which is failing and needs replacing. Does it make sense to have them removed now, when I'm not having a problem with the teeth themselves?
the nerve sounds dead but the infection can still be spreading. if you get a jawbone infection there could be serious complications. pulling the tooth is much cheaper than a root canal and many dentists accept payment plans. even if the tooth falls out the infection could have already damaged the bone and other teeth. run to the dentist now!!!!!
i was diagnosed with a mild degree of MVP 6 months ago , 2 weeks ago i started noticing an abscessed gum below one of my teeth , it was draining and pain free so i didn't pay much attention to it until i read somewhere that if you leave an abscessed tooth untreated long enough it will cause infective endocarditis in a heart with MVP , i freaked out so i went to the dentist and he gave me antibiotics twice a day till he does a root canal or extract the tooth if he had too , my next appointmen
I had a root canal in one of my lower molars some years ago, and recently the gum around it became inflamed. I went for my normal check-up and the dentist said that it was infected and prescribed antibiotics (I finished the prescribed course). She also told me to brush three times a day. I went back the next week, as the filling fell out of it, and she said that it was looking better, re-filled the tooth and recommended Corsodyl for a couple of weeks.
There may be risk of PID (fallopian tube infection) in women with MG, but few if any complications in men.
My advice is that if and when you have continuing symptoms, you return to a GUM clinic for personal evaluation. The professional staff at most UK GUM clinics know as much about this stuff as I do. Alternatively, if you prefer the private sector and live in or near London, consider a visit to the Freedom Health Clinic -- an excellent sexual health service center.
She has x-rayed the tooth (it had a root canal years ago) and says that the root canal is intact, and that the infection is in a pocket between the tooth and the gum. She advised increased dental hygiene in order to shift the infection, and said that there was nothing else she could do beyond extracting the tooth. Since then I have been beyond meticulous in trying to keep my teeth clean.
I want to wait and see how long she can stay inside of me without me going into labor or catching some type of infection which will forced me to have a cesarean...and if i have a cesarean before the 24 weeks the baby will not survive... this is very sad and hard hard deal with. I can't do anything at all but lay in the bed this entire 3 weeks. Pray for me and my daughter.

The periodontist said we will play it by ear and if the infection stays away, then we will keep my appointment with him in September to do the gum graft. I have a bad feeling that I will start feeling ill again pretty soon after the antibiotics leave my system. Here's another bit of info...my dentist has only been placing implants for a year or two. He has told me that he has been getting advice from his colleagues on my case.

I just read your comments. First of all I wouldn't push on the outside of
your gum. If you think there is a possible infection, I think I would get
yourself an appointment with your dentist as soon as possible.
Infections in the mouth can get quite serious. You should be seen by
your dentist asap, i.e. some time within the next 2 - 3 days if not sooner.
An acquaintance of our family passed away as a result of a tooth infection.

I completed the course of penicillin and had to return to the Doctors to test kidneys to make sure no complications following the fever but my throat still hurt. I have now been diagnosed with tonsillitis and am on another 10 day course of antibiotics. A throat swab has been taken this time to analyse what it is.
