Guaifenesin mg

Common Questions and Answers about Guaifenesin mg

pseudovent

Avatar n tn My daughter 11 years old 100 lbs (big for her age), took (the correct dose) 5mL cough and cold medicine that had the following in that dose. Guaifenesin, USP 100 mg, Dextromethorpan HBr, USP 10 mL. Phenylephedrine HCI, USB 5mg. But then she also took (the correct dose) 10 mg of a prescription medicine Guaifenesin-Codeine syrup (generic for Robitussin AC syrup). It doesn't state on the label the quantity of Guaifenesin mg in the 5mL dose. How much is too much Guaifenesin?
Avatar n tn The alternative is guaifenesin, which you can buy over-the-counter. Mucinex contains guaifenesin, but I would get the plain guaifenesin. It works very well.
Avatar f tn Hi i can confirm that the cough syrup is robitussin chesty cough medicine that contains (guaifenesin) only. Its in a red and black box.I have never noticed my cervical mucus ever before and this was my first month on clomid.I took robitussin every morning and evening (5ml dose). You only take it after AF has ended and stop when you ovulate.I drank a glass of grapefruit juice every morning as its supposed to help CM too.
Avatar n tn This helps calm the effects of allergy drainage, which can upset the stomach and cause a sore throat. The other thing I do is take 1200 mg. guaifenesin (Mucinex or generic), once in the morning and again at bedtime. This thins mucus so that it *will* drain, also allowing the throat more moisture. I have also come across mention of people using guaifenesin in their treatment of fibromyalgia (https://www.drugs.com/comments/guaifenesin/for-fibromyalgia.html).
Avatar n tn Excess mucus causes coughing. You can get a mucolytic (mucus thinner) called guaifenesin over-the-counter. Mucinex contains gauifenesin but I would get the plain guaifenesin. Vitamin B5 also thins mucus. He would have to take 500 mg a day. No side effects. Then there are anti-inflammatories, among them Vitamin C. Of course, stopping smoking would help the most, but you have had no success in that area. Maybe once he gets more comfortable at reducing the coughing he will think about quitting.
Avatar f tn The only active ingredient is guaifenesin, and it contains 100 mg per teaspoon. It is very important to avoid the versions that contain decongestants as those may dry up cervical mucus. Also, there is some conflicting information about whether dextromethorphan, the DM in some cough medicine names, may be linked to birth defects such as neural tube defects and cleft palate The recommended dose for improving cervical mucus is two teaspoons (200 mg) taken orally three times per day.
1580703 tn?1651904887 A common expectorant suggested for asthmatics is guaifenesin 400 mg. For this to be effective the patient must drink lots of fluids and remain well hydrated. Any diuretic interfere with this recommendation.
4916735 tn?1360986597 Musinex behind the pharmacy counter has 1200 mg of guaifenesin. This is what my doctor always prescribed me until it became Maximum Strength over the counter/behind the counter to get that strength.
Avatar f tn But the fact is that this expectorant is used to loosen and thin mucus of a different kind too, called cervical mucus, in women. Robitussin is only a specific brand and any expectorant that contains guaifenesin as the only active ingredient can be used in its place. Generic versions are most likely available as well. Be sure to carefully inspect the ingredients list to make sure the ONLY active ingredient as guaifenesin. Any other ingredients can diminish the effect you are looking for.
Avatar m tn Mucinex D active ingredients are 600 mg guaifenesin and 60 mg pseudoephedrine. Please help do i need to take to emergency vet or will he be ok? he has been acting ok and he has eaten his food and drink water since.
Avatar m tn t want to get Mucinex which has other ingredients, but plain guaifenesin. Also, take 500 mg of vitamin B5. That is also a mucolytic. No side effects. Are you seeing a family doctor or a lung MD?
631676 tn?1333718203 The recommended dose for improving cervical mucus is two teaspoons (200 mg) taken orally three times per day. Recommended dosage is two teaspoons (200 mg) taken orally three times per day. If mucus still appears thick, you can take as the maximum dosage as listed on the label of the cough medicine. Water intake should be increased to encourage cervical mucus production and a full glass should take with each dose of guaifenesin.
Avatar n tn I've had asthma since I was little, and as far as I've gathered, expectorant is for non-asthmatic cough sufferers while mucolytics are for asthmatics. Is this true? What's confusing me though is why "guaifenesin", a component in one asthma pill I used to take, is used as an "expectorant", and the only OTC drug available for the purpose of easing the removal of phlegm here in the U.S.
Avatar n tn yes, well sort of. It's Guaifenesin an ingredient found in cough meds. You can usually find a store brand of robitussin that has only Guaifenesin in it. The ingredient is made to break up mucus, but if taken while you ovulate it can make your CM more compatible with sperm.
1083673 tn?1388888638 NOT Mucinex DM, ect) only Mucinex (or store brand) with the only active ingredient is guaifenesin, and it contains 100 mg per teaspoon. I hear there is new product that is specially designed for women with cm issues... I thinnk it is Fertile CM. But I do not know anything about it... maybe the internet? It doesnt hep create cervical mucus, it just thins it.
Avatar f tn Guaifenesin to be specific?
Avatar f tn It requires you to take upto, but not limited to 2400mg of guaifenesin (Mucinex) daily. He says that with this protocol, you will notice that your symptoms will at first become worse, but will gradually disappear. He swears this is the way to reverse fibro. Now, when I heard this, I was obviously a little skepticle (who wouldn't be when you are told that Mucinex is the cure for fibro!) So I wanted to know if anyone here has heard of or tried this approach.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever gotten guaifenesin with codeine prescribe. Want to know feed back on it I'm 12+4 days. Help please trying to get rid of this plhuem I had still. But kinda un sure.
1106767 tn?1315050974 I have done some research and it appears that clomid can dry up cervical mucus in some people. But if you take robitussin that contains the ingredient (guaifenesin) only and take 1 teaspoon morning and night its supposed to help. But you only take it after your period ends and stop when you ovulate.Drinking a daily glass of grapefruit juice also helps as does eating sweet potato or yams.I am using conceive plus also which is a lubricant similar to preseed.
