Guaifenesin, how much is an Overdose? My daughter 11 years old 100 lbs (big for her age), took (the correct dose) 5mL cough and cold medicine that had the following in that dose. Guaifenesin, USP 100 mg, Dextromethorpan HBr, USP 10 mL. Phenylephedrine HCI, USB 5mg. But then she also took (the correct dose) 10 mg of a prescription medicine Guaifenesin-Codeine syrup (generic for Robitussin AC syrup). It doesn't state on the label the quantity of Guaifenesin mg in the 5mL dose.
I've had asthma since I was little, and as far as I've gathered, expectorant is for non-asthmatic cough sufferers while mucolytics are for asthmatics. Is this true? What's confusing me though is why "guaifenesin", a component in one asthma pill I used to take, is used as an "expectorant", and the only OTC drug available for the purpose of easing the removal of phlegm here in the U.S.
The alternative is guaifenesin, which you can buy over-the-counter. Mucinex contains guaifenesin, but I would get the plain guaifenesin. It works very well.
I do know you only need the plain kind, nothing else should be in it just guaifenesin. If you get the one with that is mixed it can have the opposite reaction. Also you need to drink plenty of water!! YOu have to do this in order for it to work. I just started taking clomid and i read to start the guaifenesin on day 10 till ovulation. On a website for fertility i read that you need to take 200mg three times a day!
The only active ingredient is guaifenesin, and it contains 100 mg per teaspoon. It is very important to avoid the versions that contain decongestants as those may dry up cervical mucus. yes, well sort of. It's Guaifenesin an ingredient found in cough meds. You can usually find a store brand of robitussin that has only Guaifenesin in it. The ingredient is made to break up mucus, but if taken while you ovulate it can make your CM more compatible with sperm.
But the fact is that this expectorant is used to loosen and thin mucus of a different kind too, called cervical mucus, in women. Robitussin is only a specific brand and any expectorant that contains guaifenesin as the only active ingredient can be used in its place. Generic versions are most likely available as well. Be sure to carefully inspect the ingredients list to make sure the ONLY active ingredient as guaifenesin. Any other ingredients can diminish the effect you are looking for.
Have you tried products containing Guaifenesin? This incredient thins secretions and is found in Mucinex (pricey) and products like that - BUT, if you can find a generic or plain Guaifenesin, you will save tons of money. You need to drink plenty of water for Guaifenesin to work.

He says that with this protocol, you will notice that your symptoms will at first become worse, but will gradually disappear. He swears this is the way to reverse fibro. Now, when I heard this, I was obviously a little skepticle (who wouldn't be when you are told that Mucinex is the cure for fibro!) So I wanted to know if anyone here has heard of or tried this approach.
Has anyone ever gotten guaifenesin with codeine prescribe. Want to know feed back on it I'm 12+4 days. Help please trying to get rid of this plhuem I had still. But kinda un sure.

Can Mucinex (Guaifenesin) cause gastritis or irritate existing gastritis/ulcer? I was taking Mucinex for 5 days, 400mg once a day, and now my stomach is bothering me (burning pain). I have suffered from gastritis and a gastric ulcer in the past. Could this medication cause or aggravate those problems? It was actually helping my sinuses to drain, but now I'm afraid to take it.
s pretty extreme treatment and results in some very bad side effects. Maybe all you need is a mucolytic (mucus thinner). Large doses of vitamin B5 work well as does over-the-counter guaifenesin. I use acetycysteine by nebulizer. Also, drink plenty of water.
By the way, the mucus might be caused by an overproduction of Candida albicans (the same yeast/fungus that causes thrush). It is a very common problem that is made worse by steroids. Candida loves steroids and antibiotics and sugar.
With my time on this site I have not seen anyone on as high a dose as you have been prescribed for D3. When I first started by level was 11ng/ml. My doctor prescribed D2 50,000iu weekly, after about a year of that dose and still not getting my numbers to optimum levels he added D3 2,000iu (at my insistance from my research here).
I would really question your doctor's instructions. You are your best advocate. Are you his/her first adult diagnosis of VDD?
t remember what was said, make another appointment, and take notes. Your dose of Suboxone is high; most people take 8-16 mg per day, and usually one dose per day is sufficient (i.e. 16 mg at one dose in the AM). Again, follow your doc's advice- but make certain that your doc is experienced and knowledgeable in treating with buprenorphine.
Hi i can confirm that the cough syrup is robitussin chesty cough medicine that contains (guaifenesin) only.Its in a red and black box.I have never noticed my cervical mucus ever before and this was my first month on clomid.I took robitussin every morning and evening (5ml dose).You only take it after AF has ended and stop when you ovulate.I drank a glass of grapefruit juice every morning as its supposed to help CM too.
