Since I had him he has had a horrible cough. The vet diagnosed him with kennel cough. Once the kennel cough cleared up a few weeks later he started coughing again. So I took him back in and the kennel cough turned into pheumonia. After a lot of anitibotics for that he seemed to be getting better. Then, a few months ago he started coughing again. The vet took Xrays and couldn't find anything, but he put him on more anitibiotics. Now Jax is on 4 differant antibiotics.
I actually had just started taking cough medicine the month I got pregnant for that very reason. I am not sure if it actually aided in me getting pregnant but it was a very interesting coincidence. Can't hurt to try....good luck.
Had on and off low grade fever for a few days with a bad cough. Everything is gone except the cough. it is a lot better but i still have coughing attacks. my dr. said it is viral because everyone has it. any suggestions? i am soooooo sick of coughing.
I've had a small cough for about a month. It started with a cold, but the cold symptoms have long disappeared. I only cough a few times (basically till I can't anymore) and sometimes I feel some congestion, but I don't cough enough to move it.
Guaifenesin, how much is an Overdose? My daughter 11 years old 100 lbs (big for her age), took (the correct dose) 5mL cough and cold medicine that had the following in that dose. Guaifenesin, USP 100 mg, Dextromethorpan HBr, USP 10 mL. Phenylephedrine HCI, USB 5mg. But then she also took (the correct dose) 10 mg of a prescription medicine Guaifenesin-Codeine syrup (generic for Robitussin AC syrup). It doesn't state on the label the quantity of Guaifenesin mg in the 5mL dose.
A friend of mine was TTC for five years and her husband had low motility. She started taking cough syrup and within 6-12 months, got pregnant and miscarried a few weeks in (in Nov.) & now is 5 weeks pregnant again and everything is looking good. I have been TTC for two years and am wondering if I should try it. Is it safe? I actually took Mucinex for sinus congestion for two days & today I have the egg white, stretchy, CM. That is what made me think of my friends situation. Any ideas?
Robitussin/Robitussin dm is what I ob said is safe, but for some reason it didn't work for me, also don't use Nyquil is bad and has alcohol in it. I would call your local pharmacy, they can tell you what you can use. I also use lemon cough drops, which my ob said was safe to use, mucinex, or hot lemon water works good too.
Robitussin is a brand name of a product that is based on guaifenesin, an expectorant. There are other guaifenesin based cough syrups also (Equate also has one). It is used in TTC to thin the CM mucus to make it more sperm-friendly. 1-2 tsp. twice daily until ovulation. Make sure the product only contains guaifenesin without added decongestants or antihistamines, which could dry your CM. BEWARE:Dextromethorphan, an ingredient in some cough medicines, may cause birth defects.
It is possible for a cough caused by a virus to last for several weeks. Since your cough is not improving, I would suggest seeing your doctor. Generally if it were simply a virus, your cough would not be nearly this severe and it would have started to get better. It is possible that the virus has irritated the airways of your lungs and this is now causing your cough. Pertussis can happen in adults, even those who have been vaccinated.
This is this first prospective, randomized, controlled study comparing the effectiveness of amitriptyline versus codeine/guaifenesin for select cases of chronic cough resulting from suspected postviral vagal neuropathy.
I also have high blood pressure, so the mucinex D (with a decongestant) was not for me - the mucinex DM (with dextro-methorphan - cough medicine) seemed to help, however, it seemed only to mask the problem and not solve it - I began taking one mucous relief tablet from the dollar store every morning (I wanted to avoid the cough medicine when I didn't have the cough), which contains the guaifenesin 400mg in each tablet - right when I wake up- then I walk the dog and about ten minutes into our wa
Does Cough Syrup = Conception? A word of warning: Because drugs of any kind can negatively affect your chances of conception and the health of your baby, check with your doctor before taking any form of medication, OTC, or prescription. If you see a woman in the check-out line with an ovulation predictor kit and a bottle of cough syrup, you can safely assume that she isn't fighting the flu while attempting to procreate—she's actually hoping that Robitussin will make her more fertile.
Try taking OTC guaifenesin this will help with the thinning of secretions and make it easier to cough up the mucus that is in your lungs. Also drink plenty of water. If you dont feel better soon take to your md, also make sure your not running any fever.
I have a 5-year-old son who now suffer from cough for almost 3 weeks now. We already gave him antibiotics like cotrimoxazole and amoxicillin but the the cough still persist aside from the antibiotics we already gave him anti-asthma meds like liquid salbutamol and guaifenesin as expectorant. Please help, what should I do?
Hi Everyone, Somewhere along the line I think I came across an article suggesting the some types of cough mixtures are also good for improving cervical mucus production. Am I mis-remembering this? My CM got very scarce towards the end of my 6mths of clomid. I am not sure why and am wondering if there is any way to reverse this. I would love to know if the cough mixture story in my head has any basis in fact. I had always thought that cough mixtures were to dry up mucus and stop runny noses!
I have been extremely busy so that bring about the coughing. I wanted to see if my doctor would call in a prescription for the cough syrup but I wanted to see if maybe someone could give me advise to what you think.
Guaifenesin which saves me from getting worse and speeds recovery, hydrocodone for night, Albuterol for whenever it's needed most. More background: Apparently, my mother says I coughed for the first 3 years of my life and took shots for allergies until age 10. When I get a cold, it always goes right to my lungs. Last occurance the doc gave me a chest ct and everything was clear as a bell. No other cold symptoms typically, just the cough. Any suggested treatments?
The whole lot of us has or has had chronic sinus problems. For my brother, I know mucus plus an excellent gag reflex generally makes for a bad time (and yes, he does have the GERD as well). I've been taking the Guaifenesin type product to thin secretions, and I honestly think that has made things worse for me, at least as far as the vomiting. When it was thick globs of stuff it just hacked right up. Now...it's just stringy and coming from everywhere! So gross.
Ever since I was a kid I was diagnosed with asthma, but none of the inhalers ever really worked. I'm curious to know if there's any other explanation for this cough I get. 1-3 times a year I'll get a horribly loud and heavy cough with really sticky phlegm that won't go away. It gets pretty terrible, usually to the point where I will cough until I vomit. There's also usually a headache coupled with it but I always assumed it was because of the pressure from coughing.
With all the money and research that goes into medicine, it seems like they could come up with a really effective non-narcotic cough syrup. I have a treatment for sinus infections that helps, especially if they are really bad, but most people seem to think it's worse than the infection. Fill the bathroom sink with warm water, add a generous amount of salt, put your face in the water with your mouth closed, and suck it up your nose. Spit it out in the toilet, and repeat several times.
The alternative is guaifenesin, which you can buy over-the-counter. Mucinex contains guaifenesin, but I would get the plain guaifenesin. It works very well.
I know tylenol is safe in taking while TTC incase you would get pregnant, but what can i take for a cold? I feel fine except when i go to talk i cant, i squeak.LOL..other than that, my throat doesnt hurt..my nose is clear..no fevers, i feel normal cept that something is stuck in my throat, prolly mucus..Friday the 31st i had sore throat and cough, but since Sat. morning i felt fine. Just cant talk and cant get the mucus up to clear my passage.
Robitussin works on the cervical mucus and increases your chances of getting pregnant Robitussin is a popular brand of cough syrup and it might be surprising to consider its relation with fertility. But the fact is that this expectorant is used to loosen and thin mucus of a different kind too, called cervical mucus, in women. Robitussin is only a specific brand and any expectorant that contains guaifenesin as the only active ingredient can be used in its place.
what is GUAIFENESIN ER 600MG TAB SA ZZ #20 (Generic for HUMIBID-LA 600MG) used for?
iv been doing alot of looking on the internet about this sort of thing. there is a cough syrup called Robitussin (guaifenesin cough syrup) i know it sounds stupid because it is cough syrup, but as it has guaifenesin in it, it clears not only the mucas on your chest but also makes your cervical mucas thinner and runnier so the seman can swim through better. look it up on google. but make sure you get the one with guaifenesin in it as the other ones can dry up the cervical mucas .
i guess it works different for everyone, it does not help you get more cm, all it does is thin out the cm you already produce. I used it last cycle but i didnt notice my cm to be any thinner.
It works by slowing activity in the brain to allow for relaxation. CHERATUSSIN AC SYRUP – 1 tsp (5 ml) x 6 to 8 hrs) – It is a cough suppressant that affects the signals in the brain that trigger cough reflex.Guaifenesin is an expectorant. It helps loosen mucus congestion in your chest and throat, making it easier to cough out through your mouth.
Mucolytic medication that thin mucus, such as guaifenesin and potassium iodide are probably not harmful, but studies have not confirmed the effectiveness or value. Guaifenesin may also have some cough suppressant activity, but not to the extent that it might compromise a useful, productive cough. Those medications that induce sleep or contain cough suppressants, such as antitussives, narcotics including codeine, and antihistamines should be avoided.
