Avatar n tn The recommended dose for improving cervical mucus, based on a 1982 article in Fertility and Sterility, is two teaspoons (200 mg) taken orally three times per day. If mucus still appears thick and doesn't have good spinnbarkeit (ability to stretch), one can take as much as four teaspoons (400 mg) four times per day (the maximum dose on this over the counter medication).
Avatar f tn I've heard about taking Robitussin or Mucinex (guaifenesin) as and OTC aide and was wondering if anyone has had any success with it? Also, I've heard great reviews for Daily Wellness FertilityBlend from GNC. Is that one any good or is just a standard Prenatal vitamin a better choice?
Avatar f tn We very excited were at that halfway point and ready to ttc. Being that our fertility window is during valentines week and our anniversary- its gonna be a great time to TTC, not much pressure when theres so much romance in the air already. ::happy dance:: PS- Any side effects? So far I've had mild visual issues and a hot feeling in my face, and quiet sleepy about 3 hours into my pill. I have my alarm set for 830pm to take it on time every night.
Avatar f tn Robitussin works on the cervical mucus and increases your chances of getting pregnant Robitussin is a popular brand of cough syrup and it might be surprising to consider its relation with fertility. But the fact is that this expectorant is used to loosen and thin mucus of a different kind too, called cervical mucus, in women. Robitussin is only a specific brand and any expectorant that contains guaifenesin as the only active ingredient can be used in its place.
790669 tn?1424536298 He's taken it upon himself to start vitamin's awhile back and just doing things differently, healthier since knowing he'll have to have this biopsy and we're both hoping and praying they find something to work with. He'll be out of work from Tuesday until Monday. I'm honestly not real crazy about the urologists. That whole office is just weird other than the receptionists. The receptionists are friendly but when they called to schedule his biopsy she was weird. The Dr.
377493 tn?1356505749 A girl I used to work with had fertility issues and I remember her saying "hostile mucus". She did IUI and got pregnant that way. :( I can't wait until the 26th so that we can get things movin!!
1255840 tn?1287433448 The other route to go is to check into getting a Clear Blue Easy Fertility Monitor. Just google it and read up on it. As for making it interesting (not much is TMI around here) . . . I can't help you with that one. DH and I had been at it for so many years it just became a routine. However, I can tell you that the swimmers do last a couple of days, so every other day should be plenty. Plus your DH needs time to replenish so sometimes less is more.
1047147 tn?1328909754 The name Robitussin was used in the title of this FAQ as it is a common brand of cough syrup in the United States. It is used on the fertility boards and newsgroups in the same manner as saying Band-Aid for an adhesive strip used to cover a cut. Any expectorant that contains guaifenesin as the only active ingredient is fine to use. What kind of Robitussin is used to improve cervical mucus? One should buy the plain kind with no letters after it.
Avatar f tn I just started taking clomid and i read to start the guaifenesin on day 10 till ovulation. On a website for fertility i read that you need to take 200mg three times a day!

1056865 tn?1325812385 The ingredient folic acid assists in the reduction of neural tube defects in children, as part of a healthy diet. The vitamins B6 and B12, and the minerals, iron, zinc and magnesium also promote fertility health.* Good Luck to you all!!!!!

Avatar n tn You want to use only the plain Robitussin for Chest Congestion or you can buy the store brands which are usually called guaifenesin syrup. I tried this while we were still naturally TTC and I didn't notice it helped, but I know a lot of women say it has helped them. I would be cautious about mixing this with fertility meds though. Baby Aspirin is to increase blood flow by thinning the blood. REs use it to bring more blood flow to the uterus.

Avatar n tn I don't ovulate regularly so that could also be the problem, so I am starting clomid this next cycle. I also post on Fertility Friend and Have met a few women who the robi has worked for, they also say 2 cups of green tea a day will help. With the robi your suppose to take 2 tsp 3 times a day from about day 10 of your cycle until you ovulate. Hope this helps, and good luck!

1310814 tn?1310658501 I was very happy to hear this and it helped me to stop worrying so much about my age and fertility. I'm relieved and can stay more positive in this process!! I have a good feeling about this cycle.
Avatar f tn Because drugs of any kind can negatively affect your chances of conception and the health of your baby, check with your doctor before taking any form of medication, OTC, or prescription. If you see a woman in the check-out line with an ovulation predictor kit and a bottle of cough syrup, you can safely assume that she isn't fighting the flu while attempting to procreate—she's actually hoping that Robitussin will make her more fertile.

Avatar f tn Hello I was on clomid for 6 months and it didn't work for me. My fertility doctor put me on leterzole, he says it has 10% more chance then clomid. I have took it just once so far. Hope this helps.
359295 tn?1285955994 I m/c on 9/29, and have been having trouble since. I chart my BBT, Cm, and Cp and still nothing. I am just looking for natural ways to help increase fertility. I miscarried for a reason and would do anything to prevent it from happening again. Not sure if there is much to do, i know it is all left in Gods hands, but its nice to know i could be helping it along.

Avatar f tn Hi there! As a matter of fact I do have a friend with type 1 diabetes that now has 3 healthy children. Her and her husband did try awhile to conceive the first time and finally turned to IVF. She was 36 or perhaps 37 at that time. She had an uneventful pregnancy and delivered a beautiful, healthy set of boy/girl twins. Just before those babies 1st birthday, she found herself pregnant naturally, and although were not preventing this time, they weren't really trying either.
1187113 tn?1320695096 I am taking 600mg of guaifenesin in an attempt to loosen any mucus I have...I'm really hoping and praying that we conceive this round...I am supposed to be ovulating between today and the 29th...
Avatar f tn adults and children 12 years and over, 2-4 teaspoonsfuls every 4 hours. Do not take more than 6 doses in any 24 hour period. Consult label for accuracy, warnings, and ingredients. Active ingredient: Guaifenesin ONLY, do NOT get any type with other active ingredients or letters such as Robitussin DM or Robitussin CF.
927769 tn?1275936202 I've started on the generic of mucinex and it only has 400 MG of ONLY GUAIFENESIN. I would say ask your doctor and if they say you shouldn't take it because of birth defects then don't. Also, remember you're only supposed to take it 5 days before O and some doc's say you can take it the day after O. This is because sperm may live up to 5 days in the fertile rich CM. Just a note...
Avatar f tn I don't like the taste of it and every morning and evening for 2-weeks was too much for me. Anyway you have to make sure it's the Guaifenesin kind ... an expectorant ... so it doesn't dry you out more but makes your mucous membranes work overtime :)! There are also chinese herbs available to you but I dare not recommend anything. You should go to an acupunturist for that advise I think. Hope this helps.
