Just read somewhere about Guaifenesin helping in getting you pregnant by thinning your cervical fluid, which enables sperm to travel through your cervix and fertilize an egg. The recommended dose for improving cervical mucus, based on a 1982 article in Fertility and Sterility, is two teaspoons (200 mg) taken orally three times per day. If mucus still appears thick and doesn't have good spinnbarkeit (ability to stretch), one can take as much as four teaspoons (400 mg) four times per day (the maximum dose on this over the counter medication).
I've heard about taking Robitussin or Mucinex (guaifenesin) as and OTC aide and was wondering if anyone has had any success with it? Also, I've heard great reviews for Daily Wellness FertilityBlend from GNC. Is that one any good or is just a standard Prenatal vitamin a better choice?

The large-scale Nurses' Health Study done by Harvard Medical School researchers discovered that women who ate at least two portions of low-fat dairy foods were 85% more likely to experience ovulatory disorders Numerous studies have indicated that seminal oxidative stress has a very significant negative effect on male fertility.
Hi, what is 'normal' cervical mucus like when it's most fertile? I know it should be sticky, EGCM and stretchy. Mine is hardly stretchy at all - a few millimeters and it breaks imidiately. It also only lasting for a few hours every cycle.
I just started taking clomid and i read to start the guaifenesin on day 10 till ovulation. On a website for fertility i read that you need to take 200mg three times a day!
Many women try taking guaifenesin after noting little or no egg white (stretchy) cervical mucus while charting their fertility signals, but clinically it is diagnosed when a doctor checks mucus one or two days before ovulation in what is usually referred to as a post-coital test. The doctor does a vaginal exam and takes a sample of mucus to immediately analyze under a microscope to check for live sperm and for a ferning pattern. It is also checked for signs of infection.
Those doing donor insemination, for example, wouldn't benefit. Will taking guaifenesin cause any problems if it isn't needed? Probably not. Since fertile mucus can be watery, there is probably no harm in taking guaifenesin and thinning it out. What are some other possible ways to improve cervical mucus? Drinking plenty of water should always be considered in addition to any other therapies one might try.
Robitussin is a popular brand of cough syrup and it might be surprising to consider its relation with fertility. But the fact is that this expectorant is used to loosen and thin mucus of a different kind too, called cervical mucus, in women. Robitussin is only a specific brand and any expectorant that contains guaifenesin as the only active ingredient can be used in its place. Generic versions are most likely available as well.
I am having egg white tacky CM and light cramps on or about my CD 17-20. Should I consider this my fertile time even though the tests don't acknowledge my LH? I have had blood work - great levels all around. What should I do????
guaifenesin, the chemical in Robitussin and many other cough syrups, not only thins the mucus in your lungs but will also thin the mucus in your cervix, thus creating a slippery, healthy path for sperm to swim unhindered to the awaiting egg. In fact, doctors who prescribe Clomid to fertility patients often prescribe guaifenesin at the same time because Clomid can cause thicker "hostile mucus" in some patients. However, Dr.

NOT Mucinex DM, ect) only Mucinex (or store brand) with the only active ingredient is guaifenesin, and it contains 100 mg per teaspoon. I hear there is new product that is specially designed for women with cm issues... I thinnk it is Fertile CM. But I do not know anything about it... maybe the internet? It doesnt hep create cervical mucus, it just thins it.
I don't ovulate regularly so that could also be the problem, so I am starting clomid this next cycle. I also post on Fertility Friend and Have met a few women who the robi has worked for, they also say 2 cups of green tea a day will help. With the robi your suppose to take 2 tsp 3 times a day from about day 10 of your cycle until you ovulate. Hope this helps, and good luck!

I have read somewhere that taking EPO helps to alleviate premenstrual syndrome symptoms and aids in the production of fertile quality cervical fluid. Has anyone taking this and found it to be true? Someone had recommended it to me. I noticed that i do not get much ewcm. And with this supplement, it can help produce more cm. Maybe that is one of the reason's why i cannot conceive. I m/c on 9/29, and have been having trouble since. I chart my BBT, Cm, and Cp and still nothing.

By observing changes in cervical fluid, you can predict ovulation - your most fertile time for conceiving a baby. One of the purposes of cervical mucus during ovulation is to sustain the sperm in a healthy medium and to allow it to move freely through the cervix. Logically, there will be an increase in cervical mucus at ovulation, as well as a change in texture - the mucus becomes more clear, "stretchable", and slippery.
A girl I used to work with had fertility issues and I remember her saying "hostile mucus". She did IUI and got pregnant that way. :( I can't wait until the 26th so that we can get things movin!!
Not sure about baby aspirin. You might want to post this question in the fertility forum if you haven't already. Someone on there might have the answer for you.

Here's a little piece of the article I read that states it can cause some harm to your babies. However, on page 7 you recommend guaifenesin, an ingredient in Robitussin cough syrup, as a potential remedy for women who are having fertility problems because of overly short cervical fluid patches. A recent study has shown that another ingredient in Robitussin, Dextromethorphan, causessevere birth defects in chicken embryos.
Anywho I am taking Fertility Blend Supplements and they are supposed to increase the days of OV . FertilityBlend for Women: The herb, Vitex (chasteberry), supports good hormone balance and normal ovulation. The amino acid, L-arginine, helps maintain healthy uterine lining. Antioxidants, green tea, vitamin E, and selenium, help enhance reproductive health by repairing oxidative damage due to aging and environmental toxins.
I really increased my fluid intake just before ovulation and I also took robitussin. In addition, I used preseed. Preseed is a lubricant, but it mimics cm, so it still helps provide that fertile enviroment that sperm need. If you are going to try robitussin, make sure it's the kind that has robitussin as the only active ingredient and take a few teaspoons a day starting 5 or 6 days before ovulation. Stop as soon as you ovulate.
well if you are taking it to get your cm more ew than it wouldnt be hurting anything because im sure you stop after ovulation right? i was just sick and took some guaifenesin cough syrup for that. well i also o'd. my mucus was more so! good luck. just stop taking it after or when you o if youre concerned. and if i am wrong....someone will help more than i did!
I had NO fertile cervical mucus around ovulation. In my case, though, guaifenesin didn't really make much of a difference. Preseed is another option. It's a sperm-friendly lubricant that mimics fertile cervical mucus. Best of luck to you!
