Avatar f tn I have noticed that many people who smoke usually are the ones that react to me the strongest. Maybe perhaps because of weak immune systems, but those generally are the ones besides elderly people that are always having reactions.
Avatar n tn This can happen to people when they have not eaten in a long time or if they eat something that has a lot of quickly digested carbohydrates that cause the pancreas to be stimulated too much. What happens is that your pancreas produces too much insulin, which is the OPPOSITE of being diabetic, whereby the pancreas does not produce enough insulin. A glucose tolerance test is used to test for reactive hypoglycemia, which is when a person becomes hypoglycemic after eating high-sugar foods.
Avatar m tn The next advisable test is the ‘HCV genotype’ test; this determines the ‘genotype’, or particular strain of virus. Genotype 1 is the most prevalent in North America; but also the least responsive to therapy. Genotype 2 and 3 are less common here, but require shorter treatment periods. Genotype 4 is prevalent in Egypt, and some Middle Eastern countries. Your viral load is reported as 2.85x10^5 HCV RNA IU/mL. This can be also be expressed as 285,000 IU/mL, or LOG 5.45.
Avatar f tn s disease accounts for 60 to 80 percent of cases. Vascular dementia, which occurs after a stroke, is the second most common dementia type. But there are many other conditions that can cause symptoms of dementia, including some that are reversible, such as thyroid problems and vitamin deficiencies.
Avatar m tn All carbohydrates are broken down to glucose to produce the energy. But there are two forms of carbohydrates that diabetics need to understand. The good is complex carbs, what you should eat. Complex carbohydrate foods are basically those in wholegrain form such as wholegrain breads, oats, muesli and brown rice. Complex carbs are broken down into glucose more slowly than simple carbohydrates and thus provide a gradual steady stream of energy throughout the day.
Avatar m tn Just thinking: Is there any possibilty that the immune system is unable to "produce" antibodies to the HIV virus? Does the immune system in all the indivisuals react the same to the HIV virus?
230202 tn?1370793579 I'd really like to hear your opinion on this one................ Does your blood type have any influence on whether you can naturally clear the virus or not clear it? I read this from Wikipedia and started to wonder....... A blood type (also called a blood group) is a classification of blood based on the presence or absence of inherited antigenic substances on the surface of red blood cells (RBCs).

Avatar m tn This chart tells you how many grams of carbohydrates and fat are in different types of foods and are grouped by type of food. Go down to the Nuts and Seeds area and you will find the carbohydrates, protein and calorie amounts for the different types of nuts: http://whatscookingamerica.net/NutritionalChart.htm This chart gives you more nutrient information, but you have to look for each food alphabetically as they are not grouped by types: http://www.caloriecountercharts.com/chart1a.

Avatar f tn I was sick the week of 3/10 and had to go on antibiotics. I took a pregnancy test and it was negative. The next week it was positive! Then started itching like crazy- SEVERELY, red welts, rash, over my ntire body. I thought we bugs in the house... pest control sprayed and found nothing. I thought maybe I was allergic to jelly beans (easter)... not them... My first midwife appointment was this past Monday... She thought it was the antibiotics.
Avatar m tn Hi. I am on a quest to lost some weight. I have been overweight for some time and peaked at around 275. I am currently 250. My exercise routine consists of weight training and biking (stationary) for 20 miles 2-3 times a week. I have seen minor differences in my body, such as lost inches on the waist. But lately, it has been hard to lose the weight...I'm staying around 250. I want to focus primarily on losing the fat.
Avatar f tn t determine your carbs by the number of calories. You have to determine how many carbs are in each serving of the individual foods you eat, as listed on the package/container. For instance a serving of bread might have 12 grams of carbs listed on the package. For help with the bar code issue, try asking your question in the Improve MedHelp Suggestions forum. The mods there should be able to help you. You can access that forum via the following link: http://www.medhelp.
Avatar f tn I've seen that they give u antibiotics, but my mom is allergic to pcn n always told my docs that I was to jus in case. So I'm scared they'll give it to me n ill react to it bcuz we dnt kno for sure. Is there any other meds they can give me?
Avatar f tn Yes you are right; it is a test that very recently appeared on the market. Patent is still pending. The test should be able to determine (with high probability) if P. acnes (bacteria important in pathogenesis of acne) is resistant to erythromycin and the tetracycline-class of antibiotics that are often prescribed to patients with acne. Clinical data presented by the manufacturer are promising. I look forward to reading more scientific articles as they become available.
Avatar m tn Hi, while waiting for the blood test results and the medications, your girlfriend can start to watch her portion sizes of food she consumes, especially the carbohydrates--which turns into sugar in the body. Carbohydrates includes grain products (rice, pasta, bread, anything that's made out of flour), juice/regular pop (recommended to completely stay out of these), fruits, milk, yogurt, potatoes, corns, etc.
Avatar f tn Here are some tips I posted on another thread some time ago.... Changing lifestyle habits can go a long way in controlling type 2 diabetes. Restrict & avoid refined sugars, practice and adhere to weight control, do some sort of exercise daily, practice stress management, and get adequate sleep. These are all important in managing this illness, the most important, along with proper nutrition, is physical activity. Walking, not strolling, helps to lower blood sugar levels.
3660320 tn?1347816593 I had Gastric Bypass and am not allowed Nsaids and I react badly to Aspertame and sugar free now. Any ideas what I can take?
Avatar f tn My friend was just diagnosed with IDDM. He is 48 years old. I can't seem to find the RDA for carbs for an insulin dependent diabetic. Can anyone help me with this answer?
Avatar n tn s pancreas does not make enough insulin to covert carbohydrates that are eaten into energy. Without insulin, these sugars build up in the bloodstream and the person becomes ill. In Hypoglycemia, the pancreas makes too MUCH insulin at times, and this overdose of insulin, if you will, causes the symptoms you describe. You will find that eating something that has some carbohydrates in it will make you feel better quicker than something that is low in carbohydrates when you feel this way.
Avatar n tn All you have to do is sufficient amount of strength exercises to use up the extra energy. This way the body will convert that energy to muscles rather than fat for your body to store. Where you want that energy to be used is totally up to you. If you want to add bulk to your biceps and triceps you will have to work your arms with weights. If you want to add bulk to your shoulders then you will have to work your shoulders.
Avatar m tn I guess the simple answer to that, is that there is no good way to tell someone. It's going to bring up a lot of questions for your wife, infidelity, IV drug use, homosexual activity, just to name a few. In my opinion, taking her to the Dr's with you could help with "the technicality of HIV", but it will be up to you to do the rest. Have you had any testing done yet? Do you know how your health is in relation to HIV?
