My cat has been diagnosed with plasma cell pododermatitis by two vets. The first one wanted to put her on cortisone indefinitely, I didn't want her to have cortisone as the first option. The second recommended a 6 month course of antibiotics which helped but didn't completely get rid of the problem. After stopping the antibiotics the problem is slowly returning to it's previous state. Does anyone have information and treating this problem in cats? Anything helpful?
I began donating plasma twice a week in October '09 and have noticed for the last 2-3 weeks that I crave the smell of comet and feel like I could actually try to taste it. I have never had a craving like this before and the only thing I think it may be related to is some deficiency in either vitamin or mineral that my body may be experiencing due to the frequent plasma donations. I was wondering what type of deficiency, if any, may cause a "craving" for comet clenser?
Does anyone else get tiny little blood blisters (they are shingle-like/chicken pox-like blisters) all over their skin? They seem to erupt sporadically. Combine that with the rash and I'm about ready to go crazy. Or is going crazy just another side effect?
Just got my 28 week blood done, everything was fine except the random glucose, which had always been between 80 and 100 jumped this time to 139. The more I read the more concerned I have become about this. Can interferon tx cause diabetes? I cleared at four weeks and would be willing to take my chances by quitting now, if I thought there was a potential for getting diabetes.
HOMA-IR = fasting plasma insulin mU/L) x fasting plasma glucose (mmol/L)/22.5 I have also seen the formula written as HOMA-IR = fasting plasma insulin (µIU/mL) x fasting plasma glucose (mmol/L)/22.5 So I hope uIU/mL and mU/L is the same. Insulin = 9 Fasting Plasma Glucose = 6.1 So the formula is 9 x 6.1 = 54.9 54.9 / 22.5 = 2.44 HOMA-IR = 2.44 Depending on the study Insulin Resistance impacts SVR with a score above 2 or 2.4. Looks like IR had an impact on my Tx.
INR's can change by what you eat, I eat green leafy vegetables 3 days per week and get my veggies from low vit k foods. I take 5mg 5 days per week and 10mg 2 days per week and my last INR was 4.0 but my INR range is a little higher than most people.
With NMS, cognitive changes such as delirium, agitation or coma is present. There is also elevated plasma creatine phosphokinase, raised white blood cell count, possible hypertensive crisis and metabolic acidosis. The doctor may recommend iron-rich foods to be included in the diet such as liver, seafood, dried fruits, green leafy vegetables and whole grains. Even the intake of folic acid needs to be increased through foods such as poultry, cheese, milk, eggs, liver, green leafy vegetables, raw fruits, lima and kidney beans. Other therapies may include oxygen, fluids, fresh frozen plasma, and platelet replacement. Of course these will depend upon the underlying cause of anemia.

an elevated plasma viscosity at 1.9 (1.4-1.7), elevated red blood cell count - first time it was 5.33 and the second time it was 4.94 (normal range below 4.80). MCV has been done, too, and was at 83 the first time and 82 after that.
This led to the green tea supplement producing a small but significant increase in plasma antioxidant activity compared to black or green tea. The authors conclude that “green tea extract supplements retain the beneficial effects of green and black tea and may be used in future chemoprevention studies to provide a large dose of tea polyphenols without the side effects of caffeine associated with green and black tea beverages.
Hep C is only spread blood to blood...dirty needle sticks...wound to wound contact...air gun shots...dentist drills (some)....bleeding injuries during fighting/ wrestling, etc... Good luck and best wishes you only have the antibodies...One more thing...If you do only have the antibodies and no viral load, get you blood tested every month X 3 months, then every 3 months after that to 1 year...Some people take a while to develop the virus...
I called my GI, the nurse called me back and said that Doctor gave me a green light to do biopsy and to fix my tooth. (On the last month of treatment - don't you think all the bad thing that could happened to you always happened on the last month of TX? - a filling fell down. Back then GI told me to wait and not to do anything, wait after the TX is over. (I went to the dentist and ask for a temporary filling, which of course fell down a week later too).
Even with that dosing it's hard to keep his INR up. We are very careful with his diet and he basically eats no green leafy vegi. We have noticed since the addtition of the 20 mg every other day that his memory is fading quickly. We stuggle with the possibility of switching his blood thinner to Xeralto since he's had 2 falls in the past year and from what i've read if there is a bleeding event while on Xeralto, there is not way to stop it.
Also, Here's a good article to read on tapering....there are a lot of knowlegable people here that can help you with a taper...keep posting. hope this helps Time for some technical talk... One of the things which increases "dependence" is a spike in drug blood plasma levels. Addicts do this on purpose to get a "high". They do it by Snorting (Very fast delivery), IV Injections, Chewing up meds and taking on an empty stomach.
Foods That Increase Your Dopamine And Norepinephrine Naturally! What we eat affects the formation of neurotransmitters, and some diet-related neurotransmitters have a significant affect on our mood, our appetite and our cravings. This in turn causes the brain to communicate in the form of an impulse (craving for certain foods) the need for certain neurotransmitters that it requires to restore balance.

The above all produce the most amount of drug in the blood in an attempt to get a buzz.
Facial edema is a huge problem for me and now I am wondering if the high aldosterone is the reason for this. However, my blood pressure is low normal, and everything else on my adrenal panel is low (cortisol, dhea, etc) Should I keep taking salt water and hope that the edema will go down and the aldesterone levels will lower? Or is there something else I should do to lower the aldesterone level?
I have been on rebif since and not had another attack since this past year. One of my MRI's said infarct possible, neoplasm unlikely, read by a Green Bay Radiologist. My spinal tap was inconclusive, and was not what the Mayo neurologists had expected to show, but they still felt MS. I had cleaned ceramic tile on my hands and knees, moved heavy furniture, and worked with pesticides on my flowers, and finally had dye come off my shoes onto my feet prior to this paralysis.
Now I've had a biopsy taken from the foreskin which is also raw and itchy and it came back as possibly Lichen Sclerosis or some form of Balanitis (probably Plasma cell balanitis---Zoon's Balanitis). How do I get healthy moisture and oils back and how do I get the first layer of Mucous membrane and skin on the foreskin the regenerate and regrow back??? I don't think circumcision would help.
By Christmas Eve when I would soak it with Epsom salts, if I manually squeezed the area, a clear fluid would secrete, not yellow or green, just clear and not a ton. After Christmas I went to my regular doctor who looked at it, diagnosed it as Paronychia and did a swab of the fluid. I sort of manually squeezed and got again some slightly clear fluid and a tiny bit of blood. She thought it'd be enough to grow something and I agreed because I physically saw how much was on the swab thing.
The main one, is the PCR, either qualitative (tells you if the virus is still in your blood) or the quantitative(tries to count how many rna particles are present in your blood, sort of "counting" the virus). If that one is positive, you have chronic hcv. a good site to gather medical info is janis7hepc.com. Until you know for sure whether you have hcv or not, try not to let your mind overwhelm you with worse case scenarios. It is easier typed than done, but try.

About 1 year ago I had twins and lost quite a bit of blood but have since recovered. (Not sure if this would help, just thought I should add it in just in case!) My doctor thinks that I'm probably just "anxiety ridden" because I have twins but I am POSITIVE that is not the case. He is not taking me seriously and that is why I am here. I am currently taking 40 mg of Celexa and 50 mg beta-blocker atenolol and neither one helps my heart rate from speeding up.
