Avatar f tn Finally, using good shoes (ideally compensating for individual foot differences) is important. The shin can be trained for greater static and dynamic flexibility through adaptation, which will diminish the contracting reflex, and allow the muscles to handle the rapid stretch. The key to this is to stretch the shins regularly. However, static stretching might not be enough. To adapt a muscle to rapid, eccentric contraction, it has to acquire greater dynamic flexibility as well.
214105 tn?1265935159 The doctors said that the bones are pretty well aligned so non-surgical treatment is definitely an option but that surgery would speed the recovery and ensure correct healing. In reading about it, it seems that non-surgical treatment results in about a 9degree deformity. My question is what are the ramifications of that deformity? Does your arm look bent? Do you lose flexibility or range of motion?
Avatar f tn I'm 19+ 3 today and my mom started planning last week, the shower will be held in June. I don't think theres a 'right' or a 'wrong' time to do it, but you don't want to do it too early because you never know what's going to happen.
Avatar n tn For some insight, dilated left ventrice is a condition where normally the heart's chamber is increased and decreased as a compensatory component together with variations in blood pressure and heart rate to maintain a balance of blood flow between the right and left chambers. The greater the dilatation the stronger the contractions. Problem develops when the dilatation is the result of "overcompensation".
Avatar m tn I still suffer from excruciating cramp in my feet. Over the last 2 years I have built up the muscles in my feet and have increased flexibility with daily stretches and exercises but still suffer from painful cramp in my arches and toes. It seems to occur when my toes are pointed for long periods of time as I tend to tense my feet quite hard.
Avatar m tn I have flexibility issues in almost all of my joints (Knees, elbow, wrist, ankle). Coincidentally, all the joints in the right side of my body are worse. I cannot squat as the back of my feet cannot touch my butt, my hand cannot touch my shoulder, cannot do pushup as wrist will hurt a lot. I have done xrays but doctor said my xrays are fine. Went through physiotherapy but joints flexibility does not improve no matter how much i stretched.
Avatar m tn I started running in April. The hip tendonitis flared up after that. It's in the crease of the leg where the joint is. Once in awhile itnis bursitis on the outside of the hip. I started a new job unloading trucks and the hip tendonitis got out of control. I stopped running but kept the job. It improved. I tried eliptical after two weeks off and at the end of the work week I was back to severe pain. I am working on strengthening my glutes and hip abductors.
Avatar f tn I'm due Jan 5, and I plan on staying until Dec 23rd. My winter break starts, so it's a natural break. I hope I make it until then!
Avatar n tn The huge majority of patients thus far have shown healed aortas with drastically reduced incidences of dissection, decrease in aortic root size, stability in aortic root size, increased aortic flexibility, etc. (By the way, although losartan is currently being researched in Johns Hopkins clinical trials, other ARBs such as telmisartan are probably most effective given their increased lipid solubility and thus increased tissue penetration.) 1028452 tn?1537448484 An old priest told this story one Sunday. It is a true story of when he served in the military. One day their drill sergeant came out and threw a hand grenade into a group of young soldiers. The man all ran away and took cover away from the grenade. Then the drill sergeant told them that the grenade was not set to explode and he just did it to see their reaction. The next day a newly recruited soldier joined the group.
Avatar f tn On my x-ray it states the greater tuberosity is in the fibrous union state. Does that mean it is a non -union?
Avatar n tn My 80 year old mother had TKR surgery last week. She says when she stands or sits for any length of time, her foot hurts and she must lay down to relieve the pain. The doctor said this is typical because of blood rushing to the foot and recommended putting the support sock on. Has anyone else experienced this? Everyone is impressed with her flexibility and she's doing her exercises regularly but this pain has really gotten her concerned and regrets getting the surgery.
Avatar m tn There was no need for any chemo or radiation since the tumor was well encapsulated. He engaged in all follow up tests and recent routine tests were all normal except his abdominal CT Scan showed some swelling in his bladder lining. All urine tests were normal - no signs of blood or infection...no sense of urgency to urinate or anything else unusual.
574118 tn?1305135284 s usage improves glucose blood levels greatly. It gives patients greater flexibility around meal times. The down side is that he will be attached to the pump inputting information several times a day. And it can have a financial cost associated to supplies. Hopefully that is a non issue for him. He also will need to check his blood sugar which is very important when using the pump. There is a learning curve to using it. Weight gain is a common thing that happens when using insulin.

Avatar m tn s, have a job that I was able to do without much physical exertion and I have been employed here for over 30 years which gave me a lot of flexibility in my time off - if I needed a day here and there. A lot of people work through treatment and some can't. If you're the type of person that is driven and determined to go to work; I suspect you will accomplish it.
Avatar m tn Hi Brad, I agree with nickppatel re the leg activity in water polo. I played water polo for 6 years in my late teens to early twenties (then joined the military) and I have a full understanding on the amount of leg work required just to play water polo, let alone being the goalie.
359574 tn?1328360424 This time I remember everything, and it was fascinating feeling the heat when they injected the dye and seeing the blood vessels light up in my head. Maybe it was the ones in my retina, but it was weird, wherever they were. I also felt like someone was messing with my toes on the side where they were working. Maybe some nerves were being nudged by the catheter or something. The neurosurgeon suggested I find a headache center.
479581 tn?1317757488 Doctor, I had bunion/hammertoe surgery on my left foot 2 1/2 years ago. The bunion required two screws for the repair and the rigid hammertoe had a portion of the joint removed. I recovered from the surgery without complications except that the foot still has pain, swelling and inflamation. There is no infection or stress fracture. Current x-rays show that my big toe is now too short (although the joint space is good) and this has apparently shifted my weight bearing to the 2nd and 3rd toes.
