Avatar f tn my son was a newly diagnosed "graves disease" pt. he was given tatazole tablet 5mg. to be taken after breakfast for one month, what are the side effect of tatazole, the things he have to avoid and if you can give me more/additional information about the disease. thanks!
Avatar n tn If your TPO is at the level you say then you have an Autoimmune Disease (Graves) and eventually you will have no choice but permanant treatment as Graves is very hard to treat. In the meantime....keep doing what your Doctor says BUT research all you can on Graves Disease and Hyperthyroidism as this is something you will need to know eventually. Dont go for RAI or permanant treatment until you know for sure that yr thyroid is uncontrollable.
Avatar f tn You have Graves Disease, so they give you Tapazole... are they giving you high enough doses of the tapazole to make you go hypo or are you swinging hypo? On what basis were you diagnosed with Graves Disease?
Avatar f tn I had RAI treatment yesterday for my Grave's Disease. I have mild eye disease that is aggravated when I am not medicated with Tapazole (10 mg/day). I am concerned that my eye disease will get worse with this treatment but do not want to take prednisone for the related health issues that are associated with a steriod drug treatment. My question is how frequently does the eye disease worsen during the RAI treatment.
Avatar f tn Stopped PTU and re-introduced tapazole one week later (about three weeks ago). After a few days on tapazole, I started showing allergy sx once again and the rash started to come back (not as bad as before). Stopped tapazole for three days last week, felt better and improved. Re-introduced it again last Friday, just to experience the same sx three days later. I was taken off the tapazole on Monday and have significantly improved.
Avatar f tn I agree with both..I have t-3 toxicosis, that's an elevated free t-3 with normal free t-4.Definitely ask for the Graves antibodies tests, before you do anything, that's the true way to find Graves disease. Mine is, or was 109. I have Graves, although a mild case.
Avatar m tn but doc said its not a for sure test im confused is there a test that can tell absolutely if you have graves disease or is it like other disease that they dont really have a test for and the diagnoses is from symptoms ? this just ***** soo bad on one hand im convinced i felt better before i started taking the tapazole but then on the other i know that i was ill before as well because i was not feeling well and having issues thats what brought me to get the blood test in the first place .
Avatar f tn I have graves disease (TSI 60). I am on 2.5mg of tapazole. My thyroid tests are tsh 2.5 t4 10 and t3 3.7 Clearly t3 and 4 are at low end. My eyes feel dry. My doctor wants.me on the tapazole because of my high TSI. My TSI was 12 until I went hypo a few weeks ago. Now it is 60. Do.you think I should be off tapazole? Will my t4 go up if I. Off tapazole? I don't feel great.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with Graves disease about two months ago. My question is about Tapazole. My first blood test was done in February, it showed 0.03 TSH and 24 Free T4. I started to take Tapazole in March - 10 mg a day. The result of my last blood test is 11 Free T4 and high TSH 6.16. I am supposed to keep taking Tapazole for another month. I am puzzled why I should keep increasing TSH when it is already high.
Avatar n tn PPT does not respond to tapazole and will get better on its own (4-8 week hyper phase followed by a hypo phase then usually recovery). Graves disease will need treatment with tapazole -- so ask about which he/she thinks it is and why. Graves will usually have positive TSI and or TBII antibody tests. Both will have positive TPO and Tg antibody tests. Both cause some thyroid enlargement, occassional hoarse voice and sore throat - but PPT does the latter two more commonly.
Avatar m tn t4 high, Anti-TPO over 1000 and a small goiter on right side). I began tapazole, 3 50mg. tablets daily and by June, my t3 and t4 was normal, TSH continued at 0. My dosis was slowly reduced because I was entering hypothyroid a few times and by December was taking 1 tapazole daily and began a small dose of levothyroxin. By February, my goiter was gone, t3, t4 and TSH all normal and anti TPO 887. By July, my doctor suspended the tapazole and was taking 92mg. of levothyroxin.
Avatar f tn I'm new to this site and it was nice to find it I am still trying to understand Hyperthyroidism and Graves' Disease. I was hoping someone can tell me if I am suffering from hyperthyroidism or Graves' Disease. On 8/17/07 my test results were TSH <0.01,T4Free 2.75, TPO AB 66. I also had a RUI-U I don't remember the results, but it was elevated and I think they said it was hot. My other blood work was on 10/29/07 TSH 2.74,T4Free 0.47,12/24/07 TSH 0.04,T4Free 1.
Avatar n tn I have had steroids for my eyes and and tapazole nothing has worked. I have toxic nodoles along with Graves disease. I have changed my diet and tried different things what do you suggest. I'm not sleeping, I have gained most of my weight back with increased heart beat. What can I do.
Avatar m tn Hi, I was sent for a hysterosalpingogram (HSG) after my miscarriage. The HSG uses an iodine contrast dye that is injected into the uterus. My gyn is aware that I have Grave disease and am allergy to shellfish. I was euthyroid before the HSG procedure. 2 weeks after the HSG, my TSH decreased from 1.47 to 0.04. My Ft4 and Ft3 increase from mid range to the upper range. My question is does HSG trigger a new episode of grave disease?
Avatar f tn then was dx with RA. I began walking, eating healthy, and felt better than ever - until Graves treatment. Any suggestions for the teeth/jaw/gum pain?
Avatar f tn You have Graves disease with hyperthyroidism -- would consult with an endocrinologist to determine best treatment options. We often use either tapazole or treat with I-131 (radioactive iodine).
490398 tn?1319940717 He is probably right that it is Graves disease based on the uptake, TSH and physical exam. Tapazole is usually the first line of treatment for Graves - so based on what you describe, you appear to be on the right track.
Avatar n tn Our daughter has been dx with Graves disease. She is on 30mg of tapozole. Our problem is these seere headaches. They come in waves mostly from her forehead on the right side. She is dizzy and has stomahaches during these episodes. The headaches are there during the day but are not as painful as at night. Her heartrate fluctuates and she is on a beta blocker for that. We were told that Graves disease does not cause headaches. She had a MRI and it was normal.
Avatar n tn The trick is to distinguish between post-partum thyroiditis (which does not need Tapazole) and Graves Disease (in which Tapazole would be appropriate). Checking TSI and TBII antibody levels can help also if you are not nursing, an I-123 uptake study (nuclear medicine test) would distinguish between the two. If we cannot tell which it is --- and at 4 months it could be either --- then tapazole is sometimes used in case it is Graves.
