Avatar n tn ) i took tablets (carbimazole) which helped some symptoms, and also avoided stress, excluded soy/ iodine/ dairy consumption (butter ok); did some singing, got counselling for 'issues' - and seem to have recovered. exclude smoking too. please find a competent gp or specialist.
Avatar n tn t have any liver disease symptoms either and I am not a heavy drinker or have hepatitis. Are these two related? About a month ago I was on a steriod (Medrol) for a sinus infection and for about the past 3 months have been under crazy amounts of stress due to moving and buying a house. I am also wondering if stress and use of the steroid has anything to do with my blood test results?
Avatar m tn Selenium helps with thyroid inflammation so this may help with your throat symptoms. Also, in 2011 a study demonstrated that selenium supplementation (200 mcg per day) can slow the progression of eye disease and improve quality of life in patients with Graves' disease with mild ocular involvement (Graves' ophthalmopathy). In supplement form, the most bioavailable form of selenium is L selenomethionine.
687079 tn?1230948612 can graves disease present as hypothyroid or even euthyroid? asking because i have the eye symptoms and am not responding well at all to my thyroid replacement even a little and i feel extremely hyper, but my endo wont test me because she says graves can only be hyper and thats it....
110220 tn?1309306861 I was recently diagnosed with Graves Disease. No one in my immediate family has had thyroid issues. I have experienced a tremendous amount of stress over the last year. I have read that stress could be a factor with hyperthyroid. While I wasn't thrilled when I learned of my disorder, I was relieved to know that I wasn't going crazy or I wasn't about to die. My resting heart rate 115, I couldn't write, I was nervous and jittery 24 hours a day.
Avatar f tn My question is (have not seen and endocrinologist) is it possible that when i had graves disease it caused this problem. My graves disease destroyed my thyroid which turned ino hyperthyrodism. Just curious.
Avatar n tn I have been going to an Endocrinologist for almost 1 year. He has done several ultrasounds showing that I have 5 tumors on my thyroid. I have a biopsy which showed they were benign. I recently had another ultrasound which showed one of the tumors had shrunk but another one appeared.
Avatar n tn If you don't mind. I see you posts starts out as Graves Disease and you are looking for a surgeon? While I would have to do some checking around on this can you post the reason for the removal? - Is it for Graves disease?
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with Graves Disease in 2003 and opted for total thyroidectomy once they found cold nodules in my uptake scans. Biopsy revealed that I had papillary cancer in addition to Graves. RAI treatment went well and I was declared cancer free in 2008. I now have questions after 7 years regarding the Graves. Once the cancer was found all my doc talked about was the cancer, Graves was pushed to the side and we treated and talked about only the cancer.
Avatar f tn there is no doubt a link between severe stress and Graves as was suggested in Dr. Graves original findings I understand. From stress of a lost love one to obviously a serious car accidentis nothing less than severe stress and on this is a reoccuring theme. Certainly worth further research if not for concerns like yours but prevention of the onset of Graves possibly.
Avatar n tn why after almost two years do I still have graves symptoms.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am a 28 year old woman and was diagnosed with graves disease 3 years ago. I have commented o many forums regarding my problem but would like your advice. I was treated with radio active iodine in 2006 and then became hypothyroid, I now take 150mg of levothyroxine daily. I have never suffered from graves opthalmology as far as i'm aware. For the last 6 months I have had a chronic daily headache. This started 3 days after purchasing new glasses.
Avatar n tn i feel like my legs are going to collapse, i feel sick all the time, im just looking for a doctor that will listen to me because my symptoms are getting worse. what i understand about graves disease is that it is an autoimmune disease and that there is no cure, but the endocrinologist is taking it so lighly because my readings are fine, what am i to do??
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with graves disease and had the radioactive treatment to destroy it a few years back. I have had a few times where I did not have my meds for a week at a time. Is it normal to feel so tired and cranky? Also I took Zirtec for my allergies and I felt like I was cloudy and just wanted to sleep and tightness in my chest..... I am currently on 137 mcg of Levothyroxine.
Avatar f tn M PCP told me i had graves disease and referred me to an endo. The endo said that all of my symptoms "were in my head and nothing was wrong". A few years go by and I see my PCP again and asked how I have been treating my thyroid problems and I said "I don't have one". He showed me the consult report from the Endo confirming my PCP diagnosis. My question is this, What am I to do now? I have lost about 20 lbs. when i only weighed 110 2years ago and hair loss.
Avatar f tn I want to ask your opinion on a book called GRAVES DISEASE practical guide by Elaine Moore. And were r you located??
Avatar f tn I am a 25 y/o female diagnosed with hyperthyroidism at 16 and later with Graves Disease and Goiter. I have been on Tapazol along with Atenelol (for the Tachacardia) off and on for the past 9 years with no results. Every doc I see wants to discuss nothing but RAI or surgery. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for a few years with no success. I finally found out that I was pregnant the beginning of last year and made it to 4 months and suffered a miscarriage for no apparent reason.
Avatar n tn Hello. I'm 36 and I am almost 9 weeks pregnant. I have Graves' disease and had radiation treatment back in 2009. I hadn't been taking my thyroxine constantly for a few months as I was super stressed and now that I am pregnant haven't missed a dose. My thyroid levels are still very high and I'm worried that this will affect my baby's brain development/IQ levels. Has anyone else had similar experiences? I'm scared and worried.
Avatar f tn my sister has hd graves disease for about a year she does not take med. right she has not gotten blood work for about four months she just keeps taking med because she has refills she is getting really crazy she thinks people are trying to kill her coul this be from graves disease This discussion is related to TSH Levels at 3.75.
489924 tn?1209491123 I chose to have my thyroid removed after that due to the fact that I also developed Graves Eye Disease (only about 5% with Graves thyroid disease develop eye problems, so I hope you are in the 95% who don't). RAI is the third treatment option, but not recommended for those with eye disease. An encouraging note - I waited for 4 weeks to see an endo with TSH undetectable (guess that means 0.00) after I was diagnosed.
Avatar n tn Graves is an autoimmune disease and unfortunately for life. Controlling whether they raise or suppress is key to beating the symptoms of the disease. If you are on Levo now - your labs must be abnormal and now lean towards hypoT levels. You would feel like cr@p right now with the swinging patterns you have been on. "Once Graves.... always Graves" is the saying here. But I am positive your endo or ???
199177 tn?1490498534 My husband was diagnosed with graves disease this last week .He sees the endocrinologist Monday is there anybody that can help me understand this and are the partiular questions he needs to be asking the doctor .
