Avatar f tn Scientific studies have shown that Free T3 correlated best with hypo symptoms, while Free T4 and TSH did not correlate. Many hypo patients taking significant doses of T4 meds find that their body does not adequately convert the T4 to T3 and they end up with a Free T3 level that is too low in the range for them to feel well. If you will please post your thyroid test results and their reference ranges, members will be able to assess the adequacy of your testing and treatment.
Avatar f tn Your Free T4 and Free T3 are both quite low and show that you are hypothyroid, even though your TSH indicates you are hyper. There is no denying that your Free T4 and Free T3 are too low. You are Hypothyroid. Your TSH may be low because of a pituitary problem or an adrenal problem. It should be high, given your lack of T4/T3 hormones. It doesn't look like Grave's at all, other than the TBII result. Could you give a little more background information?
Avatar n tn Both blood tests I have recieved, my Free T4 has come back normal, but my TSH levels are very very low, almost non-existant. The one taken in December my Free T4 was 0.98NG/DL and my TSH was <0.06L mIU/L. My regular physician thinks it may have something to do with my pituitary gland, because she said for the TSH to be that low, my T4 levels should be off the chart high. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Avatar f tn To save some time, you can ask your PCP for further tests so that you have them in hand when you see the endo. You should test free T3, free T4, TSH, TSI, reverse T3, TPOab (thyroid peroxidase antibody) and TGab (thyroglobulin antibody). Be sure to specify FREE in the T3 and T4 tests or you'll get much less useful tests. A thyroid ultrasound would also be useful for your endo to see. Generally, hyperthyroidism is initially treated with anti-thyroid meds (ATMs).
Avatar f tn What are your actual T4 and T3 results and were they Free T4 and Free T3 or were they Total T4 and Total T3? They aren't the same tests and don't give the same information. If you have those reports, please post those results, along with the corresponding reference ranges, which vary from lab to lab and have to come from your own report(s). A warm nodule indicates one that might be producing thyroid hormones independently of the thyroid.
877337 tn?1249844450 Graves' disease may present clinically with one of the following characteristic signs: * exophthalmos (protuberance of one or both eyes) * a non-pitting edema (pretibial myxedema), with thickening of the skin usually found on the lower extremities * fatigue, weight loss with increased appetite, and other symptoms of hyperthyroidism * rapid heart beats * muscular weakness The two signs that are truly 'diagnostic' of Graves' disease (i.e.
Avatar f tn TSH and T4 are much more important in this case than T3 (not necessary to measure and we don't treat w/T3 when pregnant or trying to conceive). Antibodies are associated w/ infertility/miscarriage. If you had Graves' and become pregnant, test TSI levels about week 24-26. TSH goal for now is low-normal range.
Avatar f tn T4 2.09 T3 2.32 TSH Receptor AB 14.91.
7726696 tn?1393688452 A TSH being low with normal or high T3 and T4 means hyperthyroidism. Everyone one here would agree I think. That though you feel bad, you're not in any danger as this can be treated. Three likely causes: Likely: Autoimmune disease (Graves disease). Treatment I think is usually medication. If that fails surgery or Radioactive Iodine treatment. Less likely: Thyroiditis. Thyroid inflammation, typically resolves over a few months. Not so likely: Benign hormone secreting tumor.
Avatar f tn hi last year i had graves disease now my lab results are tsh 0.01 t4 of 25 what does it mean?
Avatar f tn In May 2006 My Free T3 was low 2.5, TSH low <0.02 & Free T4 normal 1.45. Thyroid uptake scan at 24 hrs was 44%. The thyroid ultrasound shows enlarged thyroid gland w/ bilateral nodules. An MRI of my pituitary shows nothing remarkable. My doc says hyperthyroid with T3 thyrotoxicosis & put me on Tapazole; after being on varying levels none of my symptoms have changed. A week ago I went to an endocrinologist. At 10 mg of Tapazole my Free T3 is 2.27, TSH 3.47 & Free T4 1.0.
Avatar f tn I was experiencing hyper symptoms and my tests indicated subclinical hyperthyroidism. Normal T3 and T4 but very low TSH at .01. I got more blood work done and now my TSH is within range .38. The crazy part was my TPO AB result. Normal range is <=5.5 and mine was at 1999.4! My TSI results aren't in yet. I'm not sure what to make of this! HELP!
Avatar m tn When you say low "c3" and low "c4", do you mean T3 and T4? Can you give us actual results and reference ranges for the labs you're referring to, please? Thyroglobulin antibodies are used to diagnose Hashimoto's, so you're positive for that you've most likely got Hashi's, but low levels can also be present in other autoimmune conditions.
Avatar n tn ve had alot of the symptoms associated with hyperthyroidism for a while and have asked my doctor to check my tsh, t3, and t4 levels in the last couple of years but he always tells me they are in normal range but this time I also have low vitamin d despite taking 5000 iu vitamin d-3 several times a week. Does anyone with similar levels have hyperthyroidism? t-3 uptake 47.8 32-48.4 t4 8.79 4.5-11.
Avatar f tn I am on no medications at this time. 03/21/08, TSH 18.5 H (.45-4.50), Free T4 0.4 L (0.6-1.6), Free T3 3.50 (2.0-3.5) Prescribed Synthroid 50 mcg I could not tolerate it seemed to worsen the symptoms also still hyper & sweating at night. MRI was done for a possible pituitary adenoma (most likely the TSH one) and result was negative. 04/10/08 TSH 3.91 (.45-4.50), T4 Free 0.5 (0.6-1.6), T3 (not free) 219 H (60-180), Felt like I was hyper (sweating at night too). 04/22/08 TSH 3.37 (.45-4.
Avatar n tn Are the T3 and T4 free T3 and free T4 or total T3 and total T4. The numbers and ranges look like totals to me. If it doesn't specifically say "free" on your lab report, it's total. TPOab is elevated, so you have an autoimmune thyroid disease, either Hashimoto's thyroiditis (hypo) or Graves' (hyper). TSH is very low, which often indicates hyper, but TSH is a pituitary hormone and can be affected by any number of factors.
Avatar m tn It looks like you might have more than one thyroid autoimmune disease going on. You are positive on the thyroid stim test which is indicator of Graves, but yet you are high on TPO Ab which is indicator for Hashimoto's. TSH shows low but your Frees are normal range. Your Free T3 is actually pretty low normal. With these antibodies, your thyroid levels may be swinging all over the place. When are you do back for another set of thyroid labs? You should have a TSH, Free T4 and Free T3.
Avatar f tn s, because High Anti-bodies indicates that it is one or the other, The TSH is not a thyroid hormone, it is a pituitary hormone, You need to get The Free T3 and Free T4 to see where your with your thyroid, a high T3 T4 would indicate Graves, and a low of both would indicate Hashimoto's
