Avatar f tn I am a 25 y/o female diagnosed with hyperthyroidism at 16 and later with Graves Disease and Goiter. I have been on Tapazol along with Atenelol (for the Tachacardia) off and on for the past 9 years with no results. Every doc I see wants to discuss nothing but RAI or surgery. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for a few years with no success. I finally found out that I was pregnant the beginning of last year and made it to 4 months and suffered a miscarriage for no apparent reason.
Avatar m tn It should be pointed out that, especially in the US literature, the term ‘hashitoxicosis’ is sometimes used to describe an autoimmune thyroid disease overlap syndrome of Graves’ and Hashimoto’s disease.2 In this article the term is strictly limited to the ‘leakage’ symptoms of active Hashimoto’s disease." *** I've had both Hashi's and Graves antibodies simultaneously but I had been diagnosed with Hashimoto's thyroiditis previously.
Avatar f tn Similarly, sarcoidosis of the thyroid gland may develop in response to an established thyroid disorder including Gravesdisease, nodular goiter, and thyroid cancer. Patients with Gravesdisease may also have concomitant conditions of sarcoidosis affecting the lungs. Patients with systemic sarcoidosis may also develop sarcoid lesions in various organs including the thyroid gland.
823964 tn?1238826899 ve been seeing a reputable hepitologist for HCV-genotype 2 induced stage 4 liver disease with mild portal hypertensive gastropathy, and excellent liver synthetic function. He is reluctant to put me on interferon/ribavirin therapy which would last 48 weeks, because of the risk of blindness from Graves Eye Disease.

Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with Graves Disease approximately 10 years ago and have been treating it and dealing with it fairly well. I have even gone off maintenance meds (methimozole) was on very low dosage, did not respond well after a long time. Recently was put on PTU and it has been suggested that I do Radioactive Iodine Therapy or Thyroid Surgery even though I am responding to PTU positively. I am on 150 mg a day and it is said that might be lowered to 100mg/day.
1494095 tn?1288784877 TYVM... The reason I'm concerned is they (my PAs) are telling me that my (severe) upper abdomen pain is "probably" related to the Grave's Disease, since they've checked and ruled out the liver, pancreas, ulcers, hernias, spleen, appendix, ovaries, kidneys, blatter, esaphaugus, and other gastric problems/complications, and cannot find any other possible answer... it seems to me as though they've "pawned it off" onto Grave's Disease. I will ask for a TSI.
Avatar n tn iam apatient who suffers graves disease. My question is : Although I am almost 4 months on Carbamizole treatment 60 mg + Taking inderal ( propanalol), but the levels of my T4 & T3 are still high and the levels of TSH is less than 0.01. what do you think , should i sstop the medication and think of the other allternatives like the radioactive iodine or surgical removal?
Avatar m tn MacMillan has Plummers Disease which is a completely different 'ball game'. I wouldnt reccommend anyhting for Graves and Hyperthyroidism other than anti-thyroid meds and/or permanant treatment. Graves antibodies are with you for life...and regardless of what some think..you dont mess around with Hyperthyroidism. It would have to be more dangerous than Hashimotos. You only have one Heart and you only have one Liver....look after both and dont risk taking chances.
484482 tn?1319378880 Does anyone know if Hyperthyroidism or graves disease can affect your liver? If so what are the signs and symptoms and can it be treated? I have a family member who was diagnosed today...Any input is greatly appreciated...
415642 tn?1207784582 Become an expert on the disease, or at least read everything you can about Graves and join message boards like this one. I know of one lady who has been on Tap 30 years!! She posts her liver profile and her numbers are normal.
Avatar f tn Wondering if theres anyone out there who has graves disease and pregnant? My levels are really high so theyrr giving me medication my first trimester. The chances of liver damange and birth defects scares me. Anyone else who can relate? Have advice?
Avatar f tn I have a family history of hyperthyroid disease/ graves (my mum) and hypothyroidism ( my mums mum)- and 1 case of thyroid cancer (my dads grandmother) I myself have been diagnosed with a goitre diffuse with a nodule just under 2cm.
Avatar n tn I had the same thing, but I was tested for pituitary disease, and it came back negative. They are treating me for Graves Disease even though my T4 is not high. I must admit I am feeling much better. Hope you get a solution soon!
Avatar n tn t have any liver disease symptoms either and I am not a heavy drinker or have hepatitis. Are these two related? About a month ago I was on a steriod (Medrol) for a sinus infection and for about the past 3 months have been under crazy amounts of stress due to moving and buying a house. I am also wondering if stress and use of the steroid has anything to do with my blood test results?
Avatar n tn Graves Disease and elevated liver enzymes.
Avatar f tn My mother has graves disease and went through the RAI. It caused her to have the Graves Eye Disease, and left her open to other autoimmune diseases. She has lupus now and really bad arthritis. I know we are two different people, but she is only 50 and just had a hip replacement. I dont want to end up like my mother. I have been trying everything to get as healthy as I can. I started running 6 months ago, but they made me stop because of my heart rate.
Avatar f tn I found out via an email that I have Graves' disease . 4 weeks ago I learned I had hyperthyroidism and was placed on methimazole 10mg2x a day. The email for the type came 3 weeks later and it was frightening to read about. I felt exhausted for months had stomach issues and lost 15 pounds in a month. 4 weeks into the medication I have a distended stomach with pains and horrible rashes. All that said I'm completely stressed about the eye issues that come with graves.
