Avatar f tn Untreated hyperthyroidism (Graves disease) can cause heart damage due to the fast heart rate leading to heart failure. Aortic stenosis is a narrowing of the valve opening and the gateway of blood pumped from the left ventricle into circulation. When narrow the left ventricle has increased pressure and there is chamber remodeling. The remodeling can effect the valve opening as a result the left ventricle dilates. I had a dilated left ventricle 7 years ago and congested heart failure.
Avatar n tn I saw it in my dog who died of kidney failure. Very sad because there is really nothing to be done when kidney failure is advanced, which it usually is by the time symptoms become noticeable.

Avatar f tn I hope you find it helpful somehow, and blessings for you and your dog - Blu Stage 3 kidney disease is one of the final stages of canine kidney disease, in which your dog will begin showing symptoms of kidney failure. Canine kidney disease occurs when, for whatever reason, your dog's kidneys are not doing their job of removing toxins from the blood efficiently. Often, by the time kidney disease reaches stage 3, kidney damage cannot be reversed.
Avatar n tn Graves is an autoimmune disease and unfortunately for life. Controlling whether they raise or suppress is key to beating the symptoms of the disease. If you are on Levo now - your labs must be abnormal and now lean towards hypoT levels. You would feel like cr@p right now with the swinging patterns you have been on. "Once Graves.... always Graves" is the saying here. But I am positive your endo or ???
Avatar f tn More questions about the Kidney .....Well, it has been several years and I quite suddenly was overcome with Graves Disease last fall. Had other issue like unexplained blood clots so my options for treatment was the RAI. Tried the anti thyroid meds but affected my liver. Kidney levels went up for a while, now back to 54.81 with Creatinine at 1.1. Not sure what that means, but while in the hospital for the Blood Clots, was told I also had a Kidney Infarction.

Avatar f tn I have a 14 year old cocker spaniel who was recently diagnosed with kidney disease. She originally got sick a few weeks ago with pacreatitis, and when she recovered her lab work showed the kidney problems. We have been giving her fluids every other night as well as the epakitin powder with her food. Her blood report was better this last time. However she seems pretty good, has a good appetite ect and I'm wondering if there is anything else that could be causing this disease?
787406 tn?1339203183 Knowing when it is time is a hard difficult decision to make. It really comes down to what you see with your pet along with your veterinarian's advice on the prognosis of the disease - in this case kidney failure. Your description sounds as if the prognosis is very poor. The simple way to look at it is deciding when there are more bad days than good. When he is having more bad days than good days and the problem cannot be improved/corrected, it's time.
Avatar m tn I'm a 61 yr. old male with kidney disease due to diabetes. My egfr is 39, my last creatinine test was 1.9 . I'm just wondering what to expect as far as progression to dialysis goes.

3117443 tn?1341948135 I just had to let my old friend of 14 years go because of kidney failure. He was a typical Jack Russel Terrier and anyone who met him would not believe he was as old as he was. He still acted like the puppy I brought home so many years before. That was until the disease started taking over. I noticed he had not been eating and was quickly losing weight. Blood work was done and the diagnosis made.

541196 tn?1293552936 blood in urine, there’s a possibility of the kidney disease. It needs to be assessed further with the help of CT scan, DMSA (nuclear medicine) scan etc. You might need tests like a biopsy of the kidney for the confirmation of the cause of blood & protein in urine. For the same, you need to consult a nephrologist. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
Avatar m tn Hi, I have kidney failure do to diabetes. What kinds of foods or supplements will help or hurt my kidneys? I've heard that co q10 is benefical. Any help would be beneficial!
541196 tn?1293552936 I had many of the same symptoms as you and some of the same problems. In the end, I was finally diagnosed with an autoimmune kidney disease. Mine is called IgM Messangiopathy. There are many different types and so the name doesn't really matter. I agree that you should have a 24 hour urine test to determine the amount of protein in your urine. Then, I would see a nephrologist. By the way, has your thyroid level been off lately also? My problem makes my thyroid worse.
