I recently lowered my dose to 100 mcg synthroid, it was 112mcg I crossed over to hyper and got the joint pain and I know when I was hypo, I got the joint pain too. This past week I have been pain free.

ve found that none of these narcotic pain meds help much with the joint pain, not like they do with the nerve pain from the spinal damage. The NSAIDs that I took before I knew I had HCV helped a lot more with joint pain than the narcotics do. But that may just be me.

Question is has abdominal cramps while running been reported by athletes with disease along with muscle and joint pain. Also what is the reported time span of the thyrotoxic phase of the disease.

Hello Mary, Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am sorry to hear that on top of Chronic Pain you have also been DX with Graves Disease. You've asked a good question. I have a close friend that has this condition. He has not noted any difference in the effectiveness of his medications. I have what's called "Dumping Syndrome" meaning that everything I ingest gets rapidly put through my system.

My daughter was diagnosed with Graves on June 4th. She is 6. Luckily, I'm a teacher and have been able to stay at home with her the past couple of months to get this under control. We've been on methimazole since.

I am a 25 y/o female diagnosed with hyperthyroidism at 16 and later with Graves Disease and Goiter. I have been on Tapazol along with Atenelol (for the Tachacardia) off and on for the past 9 years with no results. Every doc I see wants to discuss nothing but RAI or surgery. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for a few years with no success. I finally found out that I was pregnant the beginning of last year and made it to 4 months and suffered a miscarriage for no apparent reason.

I was diagnosed with Graves' Disease in 2001 and my symptoms were incredibe fatigue and pain all over that felt like my muscles and bones were being pulled apart. When put on the methimazole, the aches and fatigue stopped immediately. After 5 years, however of being on the methimazole, still could not control TSH for correct levels and has thyroid removed.

My bac, side, arm nec mucsles can all ache at once or at different times. No real Joint pain. Just some weakness to hands at times and Rt. wrist. Could this be from the Graves???

My mother, 2 sisters and 2 brothers all have either had Graves disease, thyroids removed, and/or on medication. I have all of the symptoms of thyroid [I am 71 yr old] but T4 uptake shows normal. I also have inflammatory osteoarthritis and fibromyalgia. Are there other tests my doctor should be ordering? I have fatique, sleeplessness,very dry skin and eyes, joint and muscle pain. I exercise constantly and am a label reader and eat very healthy and yet I weigh 198 lbs, 5ft. 4in.

I was diagnosed with Graves disease 11 years ago. My endo prescribed Methimazole, which I was allergic to, so he told me he didn't want to prescribe me anything else because sometimes the allergy kills the thyroid. It apparently did, because all of a sudden I was hypo and I had to go on synthroid. Since then, I lost my health insurance and got handled by my PCP instead of the endo (cheaper).

Graves' disease or Hashimoto's thyroiditis. In some cases you can have both autoimmune diseases at the same time which is called Hashitoxicosis. Sometimes the labs can be normal as both diseases can mess with the labs. In my case I had subclinical hypo labs with major hyper symptoms due to Graves antibodies.

I went to a specialiast yesterday and the doc told me it may be beyond use for the rest of my life. I had an MRI today and will know the results in a couple days and yes they have done injections on area with little results so I will know in a couple days weather I will continue to have little use of the shoulder for rest of my life and thank you for your response.

5 yrs - Symptoms vary in intensity and duration, but they are as follows - heavy tiredness, muscle weakness, balance probs, anxiety, palpatations, muscle aches, joint pain, occassional strange explosions in my head ( feel like a split second stroke ), tingling sensations in my face and numbness in my hands, muscle twitches and cramps, hard to get up in the am, migraine headches, involuntary jerks, ? depression and seem to have CNS medication sensitivities.

He said that it reduces inflamation and that is what the whole Graves eye problem is about. Side benefits are supposed to be help with joint pain too. He did take some measurements so we can track any bulging. I've only been on it a week, so nothing to report other than giving me gas. Anybody have any experience with fish pills?

I have an extra few hundred from my tax return, and was wondering if anyone had some suggestions on what works for pain relief from Lyme arthritis. I've only done ibuprofen and have pain and stiffness in my ankles, knees, elbows, wrists and fingers. Chiropractic? Natural supplements? Massage? Acupuncture? If any of you have found relief, I'd be grateful for your suggestions.

The last was methotrexate which ended with a trip to the Emergency Room 2 weeks ago. Her symptoms are joint pain, extreme itching with hives (up to 20 episodes per day), intolerance of heat, sleeplessness, swelling in her extremities and overall depression. I fear that she is to the point of being suicidal. We desperately need to find a specialist that can treat her symptoms so that she can get some relief.

two adult friends who have it tell me they had terrible joint pain in their knees growing up but never knew why. with diabetes, she is already at higher risk for another auto-immune disease like lupus. anybody have any experience or comments? hopefully worried over nothing, thanks!

The pain right after the surgery, I never stopped taking pain meds, the joint pain, the flu like symptoms, anxiety, everything got worse and just never went away. We thought it was all the bandaid meds, we weaned me off and stopped everything. I was bed ridden for over a month and it just got worse to where if I wanted to do anything with my life, I had to get back on the bandaids or I couldn't get out of bed. This is the short version.

m so sorry I treated because life is too different now, my problems started right after tx, joint pain, nerve pain, worsening of depression and anxiety, teeth problems the list goes on.

Also can this be the cause of my joint pain? My symptoms have been low/absent period all my life, irritability, intolerance to heat and excess sweat all my life, joint pain started after first baby 7 years ago and got progressively worse, heart palpatations comes and goes 6 mos now, unexplained weight gain, increased appetite.
