Avatar m tn Question is has abdominal cramps while running been reported by athletes with disease along with muscle and joint pain. Also what is the reported time span of the thyrotoxic phase of the disease.
Avatar m tn 5 yrs - Symptoms vary in intensity and duration, but they are as follows - heavy tiredness, muscle weakness, balance probs, anxiety, palpatations, muscle aches, joint pain, occassional strange explosions in my head ( feel like a split second stroke ), tingling sensations in my face and numbness in my hands, muscle twitches and cramps, hard to get up in the am, migraine headches, involuntary jerks, ? depression and seem to have CNS medication sensitivities.
Avatar f tn Yes, I agree that thyroid disease is a major disease. I was diagnosed with Graves Disease in late 2005, had RAI ablation to kill some of the thyroid off, and have recently been trying to find my optimum dosage of Armour Thyroid. It is amazing how many things int he body the thyroid helps to control including muscle aches and pains, joint pain, emotions, metabolism, weight gain/loss, breathing and the list just keeps on going.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with Graves' Disease in 2001 and my symptoms were incredibe fatigue and pain all over that felt like my muscles and bones were being pulled apart. When put on the methimazole, the aches and fatigue stopped immediately. After 5 years, however of being on the methimazole, still could not control TSH for correct levels and has thyroid removed.
Avatar f tn Muscle twitching/spasms, fatigue, insomnia, joint/muscle ache, all are symptoms of thyroid trouble. Sounds more like Graves disease (hyperthyroidism), but could be many things. For that they would want to halt your thyroid production. An Endo should be able to figure out what is wrong, you will probably have an ultrasound to check for nodules.
Avatar m tn The crackling noise you note is quite common with those of us who have thyroid conditions. There's usually no need to remove the thyroid, unless there's a problem more serious than the multiple nodules, since nodules are also very common with those of us with thyroid conditions. It would be helpful if you could tell us whether or not you've been tested for Hashimoto's or Graves Disease, which are autoimmune thyroid conditions - both of which, eventually destroy the thyroid.
753274 tn?1233594136 Hi, I have been diagnosed and treated for hyperthyroid disease, my numbers were huge, just went through the RAI treatment 3 days ago, my question is about my joints, the inside of my elbows and my fingers and my right heal have been bothering me for at least 6 months, is this related to my graves disease? If so, will the problem go away after my hyperthyroidism is corrected? sometimes the pain is so bad.
Avatar n tn My daughter was diagnosed with Graves on June 4th. She is 6. Luckily, I'm a teacher and have been able to stay at home with her the past couple of months to get this under control. I feel like our lives have been turned upside down. We started out with a sore throat and a diagnosis from an ENT of Thyroiditis......We ended up seeing a pediatric endocrinologist in an emergency visit because of her heart rate. We've been on methimazole since.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with hyperthyroid/graves disease(a mild case) 3 years ago. I had RAI and my blood work still has yet to level off. Do i still have graves if im now going into hypo? Or does it ever go away?
687079 tn?1230948612 can graves disease present as hypothyroid or even euthyroid? asking because i have the eye symptoms and am not responding well at all to my thyroid replacement even a little and i feel extremely hyper, but my endo wont test me because she says graves can only be hyper and thats it....
Avatar f tn I am a 25 y/o female diagnosed with hyperthyroidism at 16 and later with Graves Disease and Goiter. I have been on Tapazol along with Atenelol (for the Tachacardia) off and on for the past 9 years with no results. Every doc I see wants to discuss nothing but RAI or surgery. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for a few years with no success. I finally found out that I was pregnant the beginning of last year and made it to 4 months and suffered a miscarriage for no apparent reason.
Avatar f tn for the past yer a had sever burning oain in my left shoulder blade i was diagnosis with graves diseas and ,i know that there is joint pain with this problem , my pain is ther day and night and frankly a dont know were to go or wat do i do to releve the pain ,
Avatar n tn Hi, Sorry to hear, your aching. I am hyperthyroid and ache, all over daily, mostly my left shoulder/arm. Pain meds do not seem to help at all. But what does help, is just laying down and relaxing, when the aches get intense. Hope you feel better. Good luck to you !
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with Graves disease 11 years ago. My endo prescribed Methimazole, which I was allergic to, so he told me he didn't want to prescribe me anything else because sometimes the allergy kills the thyroid. It apparently did, because all of a sudden I was hypo and I had to go on synthroid. Since then, I lost my health insurance and got handled by my PCP instead of the endo (cheaper).
Avatar f tn Is it possible for Graves to turn into Hashimoto's disease? I tested positive for TPO 562 & positive for ANA a few weeks ago. All thyroid levels are within normal range at this time except for the TPO, I am extremely tired, muscle aches and pains, rash all over body (it comes and goes) unable to focus, chronic infections, low grade fever daily. I was diagnosed with Graves in 2007 but, in remission for the last couple of years.
Avatar f tn Ive had numbing joint aches in both my knees and 1 ankle for about 5 weeks. Im currently at 9 weeks from possible infection. Could this be a symptom of primary hiv infection? Im kinda thinking it may be stress and anxiety as when i wake in the morning the aches are gone but they soon come back. I also had a negative standard antibody test at 4 and a half weeks and im wondering how reliable it would be at that time.
Avatar f tn While it's somewhat rare, it's possible to have, both, Hashimoto's and Graves Disease at the same time. It's also possible to have elevated TSI and not have Graves Disease; that's determined on a percentage basis. Also ask why FT3 was not tested. And remind them that Hashimoto's can be characterized by periods of hyperthyroidism. Be sure to get a copy of the report. Will definitely stay tuned.
Avatar f tn I am a 19 year old female and I have aches and pains all throughout my body. Joint stiffness too. My finger joints are stiff and in pain, my jaw and head are sore, my entire spine hurts, and all the joints in my feet and ankles are sore or stiff. What could be the problems of these mysterious aches and pains?
Avatar f tn All that said - hypothyroidism CAN cause joint/muscle aches/pain. I have quite a bit of pain, mostly in my knees and sometimes hips. I also go through periods where my entire body hurts - including my hair......... I also have a lot of muscle cramping, especially in my feet and legs and sometimes in my fingers and neck/jaw area, but I'm not sure if that is thyroid related or not.
Avatar f tn A related discussion, <a href="/posts/Autoimmune-Disorders-/Graves-disease/show/1980301">Graves' disease</a> was started.
Avatar f tn Okay... 1) FIBRINOGENE is a protein of blood plasma and is involved in inflammation of the body. Your level is within the normal range. 2) Has to do with Enzyme Kinetics - the biologic reaction of enzymes in the body. I'm far from being an expert on this, so I won't attempt to try to figure it out, but your result seems to be well within the normal limit.
Avatar f tn Whatever, I feel better than I have have felt in a long, long time. Joint and muscle aches are improved too! I just hope that this continues. Also, doctor told me I have "Autoimmune Syndrome" (3 or more autoimmune diseases at the same time -- one of which needs to be autoimmune thryroiditis -- either Graves or Hashimoto's). Had never heard of such a thing, then found it on the internet. In fact, there's lots of info on it.
Avatar m tn It should be pointed out that, especially in the US literature, the term ‘hashitoxicosis’ is sometimes used to describe an autoimmune thyroid disease overlap syndrome of Graves’ and Hashimoto’s disease.2 In this article the term is strictly limited to the ‘leakage’ symptoms of active Hashimoto’s disease." - Touch Endocrinology - Hashitoxicosis – Three Cases and a Review of the Literature There are many comments on this link which you might be interested in reading. https://www.medhelp.
