I am so scared, I have never really been sick and now all of a sudden I get this. Has anyone had a biopsy on a nodule and how long does it take for the results to get back? Yes, TT stands for total thyroidectomy...surgical removal of the entire thyroid gland.
Do you know whay you have nodules? Do you have Hashimoto's thyroiditis or Graves' disease. Depending on the cause of the nodules, iodine supplements can make the condition worse. Were you advised by your doctor to take this?

You have hyperthyroidism. Most commonly this would be Graves' disease. The ultrasound did not show a nodule that would be "hot". The vascularity on the ultrasound was unremarkable, typically in thyroiditis this is a low. Classically in Graves' disease it is high but this does not exclude Graves' disease. The antibody you've had have been negative but these are nonspecific for Graves' disease.
if it is the thyroglobulin quantitative level (ie, not the antibody) then it simply means there is excess thyroid tissue (goiter - in your case, nodular goiter from what you are describing). It cannot be used to suggest cancer vs benign. Biopsy would be indicated if there are large nodules.
If it is antibody level - then it could mean autoimmune thyroid disease, would need to look at TSH to see if the thyroid hormone production is normal.
swelling in the throat means.....it would be goiter. I have normal T4 and TSH but I have big 2 nodules in the neck. All the syptoms which u described are related to hypothyroidism. I have a goiter and symptoms of thyroid disease; weight gain,fatigee,depression,goiter,excesive facial hair...etc. but I have seen two endocrinologists who agree that my labwork is fine so 'I don't have a thyroid condition'! So what in the heck is causing all of these irritating sypmtoms? I read a little on 'Cushings disese' and a lot of these symptoms seem likely. It sounds like you're having an uptake test-this can help see if you have Graves', Hashi's, or nodules on the thyroid.I had two of these myself to see how overactive my thyroid was-it's really simple to do. I went in the a.m.,took a pill, came back later that day for measurements, and then the next day to see how much of it left my thyroid in a 24 hour period.
my mother had hyperthyroid/graves disease and goiter... I was tested @13yrs old and was found to have slightly hyperactive thyroid.... well @30yrs old I now have a goiter and 2 nodules.... but when I went back to endo.. they said that they think we never had hyperthyroid that we possibly have a genetic autoimmune disease... they said there are several that can cause a secondary thyroid response.....
An autoimmune thyroid disease is one, in which, for some reason, the body sees the thyroid gland as "foreign", so produces antibodies to destroy it. Graves Disease and Hashimoto's Thyroiditis are the 2 autoimmunes that attack the thyroid.
Graves Disease is most often linked to hyperthyroidism, while Hashimoto's is usually linked to hypothyroidism; however --- some with Hashimoto's can be hyperthyroid before becoming hypothyroid.
Since your thyroid seems to be enlarged, you should ask your doctor to order thyroid function tests to make sure your thyroid is function at optimal levels. The thyroid tests you should ask for are thyroid hormones, Free T3 and Free T4, as well as the pituitary hormone, TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone).
The enzymes mentioned was most likely Thyroid Peroxidase, which is an enzyme used to produce thyroid hormone.
