Last year I was diagnosed with Graves disease and had a radioactive ablation done in April. Sometime around March of 2009, my eyelids became puffy and my eyes were usually watery. I called my Endocrinologist and asked if this was related to my thyroid and she sugg. I visit my Primary Care Dr. I did and he followed an allergy path. I finally went to an allergist who said that allergies may be playing a role, it was not the primary cause.
My mom has been running around to various drs for months now with no end in sight. She has Hyperthoroidism with Graves Disease. Her one eye is poping out of her socking with the other eye is seeing blurry and double vision. Her overactive thyroid is 61%, per let latest blood dest.
They NY Eye Infirmatory has not lots and lots of tests on her and says they cant do anything to her on the eye like surgery until her thyroid #s are low.
He likely has graves' disease. We usually retest every 4-6 weeks until stable.
This can be an emotional rollercoaster for several months until levels stabilize.

I would like to start out by saying thank you for anyone taking the time to read this and respond, your knowledge is most appreciated. Fifteen years ago I had a severe case of Graves Eyes and received a bilateral decompression in both eyes. After the birth of my daughter 4 years ago, my right eye began to change, looking like it was falling south. It is currently 2 mm lower than my left eye.
Now I have had sever vertigo for the past 3 weeks, ENT suggested inner ear disease but no hearing loss, no fluid in the ear, CAT scan normal, Thyroid test normal. He has me on Prednison, water pills, and Valium. Hospitalized 2 days, Urgent care more than once but nothign is stopping it. My Thyroid doctor does not listen and fells nothing I'm going through has anything to do with it. Can someone recommend a good thyroid specialist that will at least listen.
s worth looking into a spouse support group for Graves/hyperthyroidism/autoimmune disease, or one who partners of people with chronic illness. Maybe the Graves Disease Foundation can give you info or her doctor or the local hospital. Either way, you dont have to go through this alone.

Graves is an autoimmune disease and unfortunately for life. Controlling whether they raise or suppress is key to beating the symptoms of the disease.
If you are on Levo now - your labs must be abnormal and now lean towards hypoT levels. You would feel like cr@p right now with the swinging patterns you have been on.

I have been going to an Endocrinologist for almost 1 year. He has done several ultrasounds showing that I have 5 tumors on my thyroid. I have a biopsy which showed they were benign. I recently had another ultrasound which showed one of the tumors had shrunk but another one appeared.
Have you been tested for thyroid antibodies to make sure you do, in fact, have Graves disease and are not simply in a hyper phase of Hashimoto's? Both Graves and Hashimoto's are autoimmune.
While Graves is always connected with hyperthyroidism, Hashimoto's is most often connected with hypothyroidism, however it's not uncommon for one to have periods of hyperthyroidism in the beginning stages.
You should ask for thyroid antibody tests.

While I would have to do some checking around on this can you post the reason for the removal? - Is it for Graves disease?
Has your doctor told you, you have Graves Disease? Yes, your TSH is extremely low and your FT4 is extremely high, indicating that you are hyper, but your antibody tests indicate Hashimoto's. TSI is the definitive test for Graves Disease and I don't see that listed.
Have you been put on antithyroid med?
My advice is to get out of the hospital on meds to correct the levels, go to Columbia University in NY where there is a graves specialist that is world renowned. My graves went into remission after 4-6 months and except for one episode that lasted briefly it's been in remission since - meaning - my thyroid and all it's functions normal - of course, my antibodies are still off the chart, so I still have the disease.
Did I develop neutropenia from the Graves disease and how do I stop the neutropenia from getting worse? Also, what are some things that I should avoid as a result of my neutropenia? In addition, my heart rate ranges from 120-140 and I feel very tired and confused. Are these feelings a result of my heart rate? Thank you in advance.
I am glad I found this site, I found out today that I have graves disease, I also have a multinodular goiter and I had a thyroid scan and it showed a cold area, so I have to have a biopsy. Looks like Graves' disease based on the significant elevation in T3 however to confirm this a TSI blood test or I-123 nuclear uptake would be required.
I was diagnosed with graves disease and had the radioactive treatment to destroy it a few years back. I have had a few times where I did not have my meds for a week at a time. Is it normal to feel so tired and cranky? Also I took Zirtec for my allergies and I felt like I was cloudy and just wanted to sleep and tightness in my chest..... I am currently on 137 mcg of Levothyroxine.
