Graves disease diet supplements

Common Questions and Answers about Graves disease diet supplements

Avatar m tn There are natural supplements that can help keep the symptoms to a minimum, or help achieve remission but not cure it. Once you have graves you will always have it, but I highly believe supplements and diet can lead to long term remissionion, especially if you have a mild case. Research the effects of L-canrnitine, and lemon balm for hyper. The results are pretty good. As an aside, please don't throw aside conventional medicine, it has it's benefits.
Avatar f tn Your TSI indicates Graves Disease, however, it would seem that we might need more information. Are you taking anti-thyroid medication or have you had a thyroidectomy? Even though your TSH is very low, so are your Free T3 and Free T4... Graves Disease is associated with hyperthyroidism and low thyroid hormones, such as you have are associated with hypothyroidism... Have you been tested for Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies (TPOab) and Thyroglobulin Antibodies (TgAb)?
616450 tn?1228433627 I definitely have seen that my diet can rev up my immune system (aggrivatign the graves), but I lack any specifics or scientific studys to back this up.
Avatar m tn It is much ore like what our bodies make. Did you have Graves disease is an autoimmune disease that affects your thyroid as we know. Do you have a positive ANA now that you have had the radiation?
Avatar n tn I have had steroids for my eyes and and tapazole nothing has worked. I have toxic nodoles along with Graves disease. I have changed my diet and tried different things what do you suggest. I'm not sleeping, I have gained most of my weight back with increased heart beat. What can I do.
Avatar m tn s wise to eat junk all day, but what I am saying is that when you rely solely on diet/supplements this diesease will be much harder to manage, especially if you have a day where you feel like sneaking the coookie out of the cookie jar. ATD'S are not evil, give them a chance.
Avatar f tn I also have Graves disease and from my understanding you are never "cured", but, once your thyroid is either dead or you have it removed you should no longer be suffering from the symptoms. Except the protruding eyes, that is the only symptom that they can't reverse. That you are going to have to live with for the rest of your life. That's why it's so important to get treated before that happens. I would say that your tiredness is from being perimenopausal.
Avatar m tn How were you treated for Graves Disease? Are you now hypo? Are you on thyroid replacement hormones? If so, which ones, what dosage and for how long have you been on it? It's possible that you need to increase your med dosage, if you aren't losing weight. Typically, when thyroid hormone levels are adequate weight will come off. If you have current labs you could post, that would be helpful for us.
Avatar f tn 140) Basically, the Endocrinologist told me my results mean I have both Graves Disease and Hashimotos. She is sending me for a uptake/scan and ultrasound of my Thyroid in a month and then I follow up with her in a month and a half. In the meantime I am trying to research these autoimmune disorders and feel overwhelmed. I am confused that I have BOTH, and that I feel lethargic and am experiencing weight gain with a TSH level of 0.00.
Avatar f tn I've just been diagnosed with Graves' Disease. I have autoimmune thyroid disease that has changed from being primary Hashimoto's thyroiditis to Graves's Disease. I was diagnosed in 1997 with Fibromyalgia. I also have severe osteoarthritis, especially in both hands. What am I doing wrong? The doctor told me I'm a very strange case. What's that mean?
Avatar n tn If you don't mind. I see you posts starts out as Graves Disease and you are looking for a surgeon? While I would have to do some checking around on this can you post the reason for the removal? - Is it for Graves disease?
Avatar f tn I have had Graves for over 10 years, and although I have failed to go into "remission" permanently. I have been doing great on 25 mg of PTU (1/4 pill a day) for the past year. (Before this year, I was on and off Methimazole, but would always slip back into hyper eventually). My Endo says I will need surgery eventually due to unknown long term sides effects of using PTU (we both ruled out RAI due to eye issues that I have) .
Avatar m tn I have had radiation therapy for my hyperthyroidism (Graves Disease). I need to know what kind of supplements I should take. I have noticed that I am having trouble healing from some sort of infection, or healing from cuts etcs. https://www.google.com.
Avatar n tn If you have an overgrowth of bad bacteria, probiotic (good bacteria) supplements are recommended. Digestive enzyme supplements are great for digestion. The proteases (enzymes that digest protein) significantly speeds up healing of ulcers, gastritis, and wounded tissue.
Avatar f tn Hi there! New to this forum. I'm a gal who has been hyper for years with graves. I'm profusely sweating, gaining weight and not able to get insurance w/o being hypo for a year.I'm supposed to be level on my blood work or a little bit low/high, not sure. I'm having bad joint pains too and developed a tigger finger out of the blue. I'm having a RAI scann in a couple weeks. What are your experiences with the ablations and going hypo, good, bad otherwise?
658552 tn?1224648826 OMG ... I HATE GRAVES' DISEASE!!! Sorry I had to let that be known. LOL I have a question for anybody that might have an answer. I was diagnosed with Graves' this summer. At first I had a few symptoms ... mood swings, bulging eyes etc. But now I'm just so tired. I mean seriously tired. I don't have the energy to cook or clean. I barely have the energy just to get up and go to work every day. Right now the Dr.
Avatar f tn I do. One term important with both autoimmune issues is defined as Hashitoxicosis Graves disease. Its a difficult treatment to work and alot depends in the individuals complex. Rarely will you ever see your numbers suppressed enough to say you no longer have the disease but the symptoms can be managed. It takes TLC for sure and a good doc relationship with you. also you may need to become a thyroid guru yourself and learn alot to overcome the symptoms of this dual-issue.
199177 tn?1490498534 My husband was diagnosed with graves disease this last week .He sees the endocrinologist Monday is there anybody that can help me understand this and are the partiular questions he needs to be asking the doctor .
Avatar f tn t show levels of either Graves or Hashimotos so I had an ultrasound that diagnosed graves disease but these are my thyrod panel results in comparison. I had a baby 8 months ago and since I have been treating my thyroid imbalance the natural way with supplements and lifestyle changes. What do you think of these levels? How did they flip to the opposite side of things?
1314073 tn?1282841674 I was just diagnosed with Graves Disease. I've been doing reasearch on the Internet and now I am TERRIFIED! Are my eyes going to bulge and my hair fall out? Does this happen to everyone with Graves Disease. I know this sounds vain, but fear is fear and this is all I can think about. Thanks for any help you can give me.
Avatar n tn I have been going to an Endocrinologist for almost 1 year. He has done several ultrasounds showing that I have 5 tumors on my thyroid. I have a biopsy which showed they were benign. I recently had another ultrasound which showed one of the tumors had shrunk but another one appeared.
Avatar f tn Graves Disease is an Autoimmune Disease and usually when one autoimmune disease is found, there is usually a 2nd one found (this one being Diabetes). The Graves and Hyperthyroidism can be treated by either anti-thyroid meds or pernmanant treatment which will eventually stablaise the Diabetes although this is extremely hard if the Diabetes has been undetected for a long time. And something to watch for is ...Metformin can interefer with thyroid medications.
