Avatar f tn d be vigilant about developing symptoms of the thyroid problems associated with Graves - hyperthyroid symptoms such as heart palpitations, intolerance to heat, fine muscle tremors in the hands - a google search on Graves or Hyperthyroid will get you a complete list of signs and symptoms. Most people have both sets of problems, but some with thyroid problems never develop eye problems, and some people with the eye problems never develop the thyroid problems.

Avatar f tn Lab results, we tend to rely on Free, but as both your T3 and T4 levels are high and the TSH is low, in addition your TPOab is High, this would indicate an auto immune thyroid disease known as Graves, this condition causes your immune system to attack the thyroid and then the thyroid over produces the T4 hormone that your body runs on, it increases you body's metabolism. Some symptoms include Tachycardia (Fast Heart Rate) edgy nervious feelings, anxiety, lower body weight than normal.
Avatar f tn I am Type I diabetic of 13 years that began having hyperthyroid symptoms 6 months ago, which included tachycardia 100s-160s, palpitations, fine hand tremor, heat intolerance & hyperhidrosis, occasional chest tightness, development of diffuse goiter over past month, and dyspnea with exertion at times, as well as it seemed to take longer than usual to focus eyes when reading electronic screens. Saw my GP a month ago and had TSH, FT4, and T3 drawn. TSH came back within normal limits (1.2 or 1.
Avatar n tn Your test results seem to suggest Graves' Disease. A good article on it can be found at the Mayo Clinic web-site here: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/graves-disease/DS. In short, though, if you have Graves' Disease, your immune system is mistakenly attacking your thyroid.
Avatar f tn Her symptoms are joint pain, extreme itching with hives (up to 20 episodes per day), intolerance of heat, sleeplessness, swelling in her extremities and overall depression. I fear that she is to the point of being suicidal. We desperately need to find a specialist that can treat her symptoms so that she can get some relief. She does have good insurance and we can get enough money together to fly her where ever we can find a specialist to treat her.
428506 tn?1296557399 I have the heat intolerance, especially when I first started treatment and I also had photophobia then as well.
Avatar f tn d with tapazole for 18 months then remission. Started having symptoms again, tacchycardia, heat intolerance, fatigue. went to endo- says I have subclinical hyperthyroid, won't medicate- recheck in 4 months. If my thyroid is supposedly working fine, then what causes the hpyerthyroid and why won;t they treat me since my symptoms are so bad? TSH= 0.11 FREET4= 1.08 FREET3= 3.
Avatar m tn The crackling noise you note is quite common with those of us who have thyroid conditions. There's usually no need to remove the thyroid, unless there's a problem more serious than the multiple nodules, since nodules are also very common with those of us with thyroid conditions. It would be helpful if you could tell us whether or not you've been tested for Hashimoto's or Graves Disease, which are autoimmune thyroid conditions - both of which, eventually destroy the thyroid.
Avatar n tn I was Diagnosed and Treated with radioactive Iodine for Graves Disease in the Fall of last year. Since then I have been battling hair loss, weight gain, muscle cramps and extreme tiredness. I recently in May went on the synthroid but haven't had much change except for the muscle cramps have reduced. My question is though, how does taking synthroid effect your periods.
1281603 tn?1283798699 http://www.medhelp.org/health_pages/Multiple-Sclerosis/Heat-Intolerance/show/426?cid=36 I can't tell you for sure if you have MS or not (I'm in the same boat. I'm a limolander.), but it sounds to me like things are adding up to something neurological, and from what I've read numerous punctate T2/FLAIR hyperintensities in the subcortical regions of both cerebral hemispheres can also occur in MS as well.
Avatar n tn I am 35 years old and for about the past year I've been suffering from heat intolerance, fatigue and severe headaches. I can be sitting down at my job and be uncomfortably warm when everyone around me is wearing sweaters and jackets. I've been to see an Endicronologist, had my thyroid and adrenol glands tested, had my hormone levels checked, and had my electrolytes tested. So far, nothing has come up abnormal.
1323278 tn?1298122488 I was just wondering how does heat intolerance show up (if at all) in any of you. Do you feel dizzy, or tired, or any other sensation in particular? The reason I'm asking is because I've noticed that in warmer weather my back and neck get really hot, and I just get an abnormal, awful sensation overall that is really hard to describe (like a buzzing sensation? I don't think it's Lhermitte's) Thanks for your input and God bless you all!
877337 tn?1249844450 Regarding the eye problems often associated with Graves - only about 10% of Graves/Thyroid patients develop Graves Eye Disease. The eye disease is actually caused by different antibodies than the ones that cause the thyroid problems. Some people have the eye problems without ever having thyroid problems. Most have thyroid problems an no eye problems. The eye problems usually start with a lot (almost constant) tearing and a dry, gritty feeling on they eye surface.
Avatar f tn Does thyroid disease run in your family? A low TSH level means hyperthyroidism or maybe Graves Disease. Your other levels are normal. I'm not a doctor but speaking of my own experience with the racing heart - agitation - diarhea - sore neck with several nodules on the right and the left lobes Heat intolerance and a TSH level of .02. It was Hashitoxicosis. It lasts for about 6 months.
Avatar m tn It is possible to have both Hashi's and Graves', however, it is quite rare. On 7/18/11 you had a positive TSI (thyroid stimulating immunoglobulin). TSI is the definitie test for diagnosing Graves'. So, I'm not a doctor, of course, but my guess would be Graves' rather than Hashi's. Do you have other hyper symptoms besides weight loss...heat intolerance, insomnia, diarrhea, hand tremors, increased HR and/or BP, etc?
Avatar f tn I have had heat intolerance with exercise but only increased premature contractions. Have you had your thyroid checked. Turned out I had Graves Disease. Have TSH, free T4 and TSI, TPO antibodies checked. I was hyper thyroid but I understand Hypo thyroid can also affect the heart. A consultation with your M.D. may provide more specific recommendations. Best of Health and keep up the good work in taking responsibility for your weight loss.
Avatar n tn I also have graves disease dxd Dec 2007. Like you, my graves disease began right around the time that I wanted to start a family & I had all the same symptoms as you. Fortunately the PTU is working for me. I have decided to have surgery, but I am waiting until January for other reasons. My Endo says that you can get pregnant sooner after surgery, vs RAI you have to wait 6-12 mos before TTC.
1847422 tn?1332867056 The same thing happens to me. I can't even drink really hot beverages anymore and I always let my food cool a bit before eating it. We have a hot tub and keep the temperature set at 97-98 degrees If it's any hotter than that I feel horrible after using it. My kids tease me that we have a warm tub. LOL! I think there are a lot of us who suffer the same symptoms. I'm not looking forward to summer!! Thank goodness my hubby understands and is already looking into A/C for our house.
Avatar f tn s disease and spinal problems. However, I have an intolerance to heat and experienced the following symptoms after getting hot: - blurred vision, eye pain, nystagmus, ocular deviation, worsening paraesthesia, leg weakness and generally feeling very weak. I know that people with other conditions can experiences heat intolerance, but I wanted to know if anyone knew what those conditions might be? Is anyone able to shed any light on this?
Avatar f tn t usually cause people to overheat and sweat more easily, sweating issues can be a secondary issue an MSer deals with but generally heat intolerance (Uhthoff’s) in MS causes a temporary worsening of their MS symptoms. Heat basically slows down nerve impulse in the demylinated nerves and it doesn't need to be much, less than a degree increase to the body’s core temperature can be enough to cause symptoms of heat intolerance in an MSer.
