Common Questions and Answers about Graves disease blood test

graves-disease

Avatar m tn All of your labs are over the reference ranges (except TSH) and indicate that you have hyperthyroidism, of which Graves Disease is the main cause and since your TSI is definitely positive, that would be your diagnosis. Some people do have, both, Hashimoto's and Graves Disease at the same time, with one or the other dominant...
Avatar f tn Looks like Graves' disease based on the significant elevation in T3 however to confirm this a TSI blood test or I-123 nuclear uptake would be required.
Avatar f tn There are antibody tests to determine Hashimoto's thyroiditis and Graves Disease For Hash's TPO and Tgab For Graves TPI Best Regards FTB4
Avatar f tn I am a mother of 4 boys my youngest having downs syndrome I was diagnosed a year or so go with early stages of graves disease plus now been put on meds for high blood pressure and antidepressant and now being accused of drug abuse and having failed a drug test then taking another and passed could the meds and any otc interact with this.
Avatar n tn My most recent blood test indicates my TSH is 0 and my t3 is 2.55 and T4 is 2.54. I am on no medication and am probably six weeks from seeing an endo doc, should I be concerned?
Avatar f tn hi i'm a 28 yr old woman and have suffered badly with symptoms from graves disease for 3yrs i've been on propylthiouracil for a year now as i had a severe allergic reaction to carbimazole! my symptoms include insomnia, severe fatigue, anxiety, bouts of depression, poor concentration, memory loss, bruising easily, dizziness, nausea and graves rage and weakened immune system (sick often). the problem is that i've recently had a blood test that read normal at 5.
Avatar f tn t have a clue as to what my throat problem is, so I am going to see an ENT for that, but he did send me to get a Thyroid test done, then a second Thyroid Blood test because he wanted to get more info. Here is the tests I had & the results: Thyroid Peroxidase and Thyroglobulin Antibodies, Thyroglobulin Antibodies, Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies In Range <20 Out of Range (blank) Ref. Range <20 IU/mL In Range <10 Out of Range (blank) Ref.
Avatar f tn What thyroid blood tests were done and what are the results of those? You should have had, at least, TSH, Free T3 and Free T4. If you have those, please post the results with reference ranges, which vary lab to lab, so must come from your own report. With Graves Disease, typically, TSH will by very low, while FT3 and FT4 would be very high.
Avatar f tn I want to ask your opinion on a book called GRAVES DISEASE practical guide by Elaine Moore. And were r you located??
Avatar f tn I'm new to this site and it was nice to find it I am still trying to understand Hyperthyroidism and Graves' Disease. I was hoping someone can tell me if I am suffering from hyperthyroidism or Graves' Disease. On 8/17/07 my test results were TSH <0.01,T4Free 2.75, TPO AB 66. I also had a RUI-U I don't remember the results, but it was elevated and I think they said it was hot. My other blood work was on 10/29/07 TSH 2.74,T4Free 0.47,12/24/07 TSH 0.04,T4Free 1.
Avatar n tn iam apatient who suffers graves disease. My question is : Although I am almost 4 months on Carbamizole treatment 60 mg + Taking inderal ( propanalol), but the levels of my T4 & T3 are still high and the levels of TSH is less than 0.01. what do you think , should i sstop the medication and think of the other allternatives like the radioactive iodine or surgical removal?
Avatar n tn Hello. I'm 36 and I am almost 9 weeks pregnant. I have Graves' disease and had radiation treatment back in 2009. I hadn't been taking my thyroxine constantly for a few months as I was super stressed and now that I am pregnant haven't missed a dose. My thyroid levels are still very high and I'm worried that this will affect my baby's brain development/IQ levels. Has anyone else had similar experiences? I'm scared and worried.
Avatar m tn but doc said its not a for sure test im confused is there a test that can tell absolutely if you have graves disease or is it like other disease that they dont really have a test for and the diagnoses is from symptoms ? this just ***** soo bad on one hand im convinced i felt better before i started taking the tapazole but then on the other i know that i was ill before as well because i was not feeling well and having issues thats what brought me to get the blood test in the first place .
Avatar f tn My fiance' was diagnosed with Graves Disease late last year. Something we did not expect was him having Aortic Stenosis. Graves Disease causes numerous symptoms so we thought it was the disease causing his heart problems. He just took the treatment for the Graves so it's going to be a month or so before the treatment starts to show some results. He has another test scheduled next week with an Interventional Cardiologist.
Avatar f tn TSH: 1.820 (range: .450-4.500 uIU/mL) T4, Free (Direct): 1.82 (range: .82-1.77 ng/dL) Thyroxine (T4): 8.7 (range: 4.5-12.0 ug/dL) Vitamin D: 30.7 (range: 30.0-100.0 ng/mL) I know Graves seems like the most logical dx, and I have been having anxiety and eye issues (very dry, feel sticky, puffy) but I also had a sinus infection (verified by MRI) that could cause the eye issues, as well. Could my low vitamin D be playing a role in the slight elevation of my free T4?
Avatar f tn Thanks all you guys for the responses. I'm new to here but it makes me feel so much better to find people to discuss this with. I'm a graduate student in biology and often times I just can't help thinking about what's going on and looking for answers everywhere. It's just nice to find experienced people to talk with. The doctor I'm seeing is a primary doc from the university health center. Maybe I should ask her to refer me to an endo.
Avatar f tn Did he perform a radioactive iodine uptake scan? Did he test your blood for antibodies that are present with Graves disease? An endo is much more familiar with the diseases of our glanduar systems, but that doesnt mean your gp. couldnt make the call. I have Graves and my immediate symptoms were: rapid heart beat, weight loss, shakey hands, anxiety attacks and a few more. I saw my gp first and he sent me to an endo to do further testing when my tsh came back at .10.
Avatar f tn Hi, Yes with Hashi it is a blood test to see if you have any Antibodies attacking the thyroid gland, some say the definitive test for Hasi is also a biopsy of the gland. My doctors just went by bloods and a scan to see how it was looking..With graves im not sure but someone on here will help you with that.Graves to my knowledge is an overactive gland?
Avatar f tn I just went to a new doctor. I saw 2 doctors(endos) they said continue taking these meds and test in 6 weeks. They also agreed that my tests really don't fit Graves disease anymore. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME? I had my cortisol tested in August and it was normal 17 after a fast. Maybe it's piuitary related. All I know is I don't feel well at all. Thanks.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with Graves disease 11 years ago. My endo prescribed Methimazole, which I was allergic to, so he told me he didn't want to prescribe me anything else because sometimes the allergy kills the thyroid. It apparently did, because all of a sudden I was hypo and I had to go on synthroid. Since then, I lost my health insurance and got handled by my PCP instead of the endo (cheaper).
