Avatar f tn I found this article "One patient's UC success story" (google for the whole article) but this guy was about to have his colon removed his symptoms were that severe! Now he is free of symptoms on SCD (specific Carbohydrate Diet) and LDN (Low Dose Naltrexone). I've seen these results on other blogs, videos etc. I thought i had IC for two years but found out it was due to severe magnesium deficiency! Graves' disease and Ulcerative Colitis are both autoimmune diseases.
Avatar n tn Hi, Ulcerative colitis is a form of inflammatory bowel disease . Ulcerative colitis is a form of colitis, a disease of the colon , that includes characteristic ulcers, or open sores. The main symptom of active disease is usually constant diarrhea mixed with blood, of gradual onset. IBD is often confused with irritable bowel syndrome , a troublesome, but much less serious, condition.
483733 tn?1326798446 I just find it frustrating. There is a big difference between someone with Crohn's or Colitis and GERD. Thanks for the info on the Crohn's community but I am an ulcerative colitis survivor and my son is now having active disease and really need support in that area. It would be helpful if we could even divide the forum between intestinal issues and non-instestinal.

Avatar n tn I think I have ulcerative Colitis. My stomach usually hurts and I have to go the bathroom frequently throughout the day. A lot of times I suffer from fecal incontinence where i will go back to the bathroom like a half hour after I eat and I will wipe and there will be something on the toilet paper. I do not know what to do. Also, sometimes when i look at my stool there is like a red flake or something, can that be blood? Can blood show up in the form of a flake.
1428646 tn?1330978063 graves disease will attack and organ. the first time I had graves disease it was attacking my heart making my heart beat faster. I was on medication for about 2 years. then it went into remission now it is back. graves disease could attack any organ , graves disease is your immune system attacks your organs not virus or bacteria.
Avatar f tn A lot more research and recognition about this disease has been done and more information about UC is available now. Since that time I have been on medications and I have had my ups and downs with periods of remission where I wasn't taking any meds for a two year period. Unfortunately the symptoms returned and I had to return to taking my meds. My advice to you living with UC you have to make yourself a priority and take very good care of yourself.
Avatar m tn Check out the SCD (Specific Carbohdrate Diet) diet. I heard about this from a video on YouTube and was amazed at his recovery as well as getting off all the drugs. Video name on youtube 'CROHN'S DISEASE CURE ULCERATIVE COLITIS CURE CROHN'S OLITIS IBS CURE SCD DIET." I so need to add a c to olitis lol. I found an article online you will be very interested in reading too: "The Power of SCD and Dawn’s Remarkable Ulcerative Colitis Remission".
Avatar f tn UC comes and goes throughout one's life. Stress is a big cause of additional flares. However, it is important to not stop your meds without your doctor's blessing. UC is a very serious disease and you need to do all you can to keep it in remission.
277836 tn?1359666174 I am taking the prednisone for ulcerative colitis all biopsys were negative for it but he sent blood work off and it came back positive for uc it was some kind of antibody test
Avatar f tn You could be possibly suffering from Celiac Disease/Ulcerative Colitis/Crohn’s disease/Irritable Bowel Syndrome. All these result in tender abdomen, loose stool or loose stools alternating with constipation, abdominal distention, cramps etc. A number of times a gastroenterologist is able to diagnose these conditions by clinical examination and detailed medical history.

Avatar n tn I am a 54 yr. old female who has Ankylosing Spondylitis and Ulcerative Colitis and had an MRI done of the brain and the radiological term was leukoaraiosis for the 8 spots they found. MRI of the brain was done because of balance problems and Optic Neuritis. The treatment I am receiving for Ankylosing Spondylitis is Methotrexate and anti inflamatory meds along with Gababentin.
Avatar m tn There are many possible cause of blood in stool such as anal fissure, infection, inflammation (ulcerative colitis), colorectal polyps, colon cancer and diverticular disease. Colitis causes inflammation and ulcers in the intestine and may be triggered by a variety of factors such as stress, genetics and immune system status. It is best that she have this checked by her attending physician for proper diagnosis. Additional diagnostic tests may need to be done .Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar m tn Also, irritable bowel conditions like IBS, Crohn’s ulcerative colitis and celiac disease, which can cause similar symptoms can cause bleeding into the gut which is not visible to naked eye. So, an occult stool test should be done apart from stool routine and microscopic for ova and cysts of parasites. If these tests are not conclusive, then you may need a colonoscopy to rule out a colon condition like colitis, ulcerative colitis etc.
Avatar n tn I was told before that they "think" that I have ulcerative colitis. I was put on medication. But after it stopped helping, I stopped taking it, and I was fine. Then just recently I have been feeling horrible. Stomach pain, mostly on the right lower region, gas, bloating, nausea, fatigue, and sometimes stabbing pain in my right lower abdomen. I am not pregnant ( that I know of, I have an IUD) And this has been going on for 3 weeks, non stop.
Avatar f tn Hi All, I was just diagnosed with Graves (this morning, though I've known for awhile it was either Graves or Hashi's) and I also have Vitiligo. My doctor mentioned that now that I have two autoimmne disease I need to keep an eye out for more because they clustered. I was wondering if anyone here has more than one, and how they handle it? Thank you!
Avatar f tn Obviously I'm not a doctor but try eliminating wheat, barley and rye from your diet. THis means all bread, pasta, beer, cake, donuts, ketchup, salad dressing, etc. What I am getting at is something called Celiacs Disease. Other than the leakage your symptoms could be either Celiacs Disease or Gluten Intollerance. Do a search on both issues and I think you may see what I'm speaking of. Good luck.
Avatar m tn I have had ulcerative colitis for about 2-3 years and take medication to keep it under control. I take 4 yellow tablets which i fink is called salfasline and 200mg of asafirin. Since i have had this illness i need to visit the toilet about 10 times a day and seem to have lost control of my bowel. My doctor says there is nothing else he can do as the condition has calmed down.
Avatar m tn My son has a similar condition, Ulcerative Colitis and I can relate to the pain and problems it has presented in his life. He was DX at the age of 12.... and at that time they called it the Million Dollar Disease. It was estimated it would cost a million dollars in his lifetime to treat his condition. I am sure those numbers have increased. As much as I would like to offer suggestions I really think your post belongs on our Crohns/Ulcerative Colitis Forum.
