Avatar n tn t take it. I am a sever asthmatic on 8 medications, but I also have Graves disease and had my thyroid killed. Therefore, I take Amour Thyroid. What is the problem with Advair and thyroid disease? My mother and brother who have hypothyroidism are also on Advair.
Avatar f tn You need a second opinion. Based on what you describe, you have autoimmune thyroid disease with markers for Graves' (TSI) and the other common antibodies (TPO and Tg) that are usually associated with hashimoto's. Graves' and Hashi should be considered as entities on two ends of a spectrum, not two completely different diseases. This may cause fluctuating thyroid function to hypo and hyper and back but this is not common.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with Graves disease in 2001 and subsequently treated with radioactive iodine in 2003. Since being treated, I was placed on Synthroid. Soon after I developed the "eye stare" and moderate lid retraction bilaterally. Throughout the years, my eyes seemed to have gone back to their normal state. Approximately two years ago, my physician switched me to armour thyroid (I felt great on it).
Avatar f tn Now, new endo says RAI is what she would’ve advised originally...as I’m going to most likely end up hypO and taking synthroid/levo for the rest of my life. Ugh. Anyone manage to get their weight back under control after RAI? Or on synthroid? I’m dreading this! I’m scared of RAI.
Avatar n tn I was Diagnosed and Treated with radioactive Iodine for Graves Disease in the Fall of last year. Since then I have been battling hair loss, weight gain, muscle cramps and extreme tiredness. I recently in May went on the synthroid but haven't had much change except for the muscle cramps have reduced. My question is though, how does taking synthroid effect your periods.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with Graves disease 11 years ago. My endo prescribed Methimazole, which I was allergic to, so he told me he didn't want to prescribe me anything else because sometimes the allergy kills the thyroid. It apparently did, because all of a sudden I was hypo and I had to go on synthroid. Since then, I lost my health insurance and got handled by my PCP instead of the endo (cheaper).
Avatar m tn It is much ore like what our bodies make. Did you have Graves disease is an autoimmune disease that affects your thyroid as we know. Do you have a positive ANA now that you have had the radiation?
Avatar f tn Graves does increase risks during pregnancy as TSI can cross the placenta - you would need to watch thyroid levels closely -- and reconsider taking synthroid as if the Graves become active then this would only add to the excess in thyroid hormone.
Avatar n tn my mother has elevated liver enzymes, she also takes synthroid, her throid levels are elevated a bit, and she took a radiation pill 30 yrs ago. Will the synthroid elevate her liver enzymes?
Avatar n tn does any one have graves and is hyperactive during pregnancy?are you on meds?what kind?
Avatar f tn Are you taking the heart medication and the synthroid together? Do you have Graves diseasse? Why did they put you on only 25mcgs of Synthroid?
Avatar m tn - If you have an autoimune thyroid disease like Hashimoto or Graves disease, avoid soy when possible. Non-fermented (in USA) is the worst for you. In Autoimmune thyroid , the thyroid is inflamed from the antibodies and you are at risk for more body inflammation in other areas. The thyroid level of inflammation gets re-disturbed with other hormone imbalances as it can no longer self adjust. The hormone output and free T levels are now regulated by the hormone replacement meds.
Avatar n tn 6 weeks after stopping synthroid I am still hyperactive. What should I do? Is it possible that I do have Graves Disease and he is wrong? Should other test be completed. I am struggling to function day to day and need relief.

Anti thyroglobulin AB H 372.0 (ref. range <10) Anti thyroid microsomal AB H 1790.7 (ref. range <5.0)...result was rechecked FT4 1.3 T.S.H. 0.87 Free T3 2.7 (ref range 1.98 to 4.6) Thyroglobulin L 0.2 (ref range 0.8 to 49) Vitamin D 25 Hydroxy L 14.7 (ref. range 31-80) I am told this means I have active antibodies for both Graves and Hashimotos....is this possible to have both?
1428646 tn?1330978063 graves disease will attack and organ. the first time I had graves disease it was attacking my heart making my heart beat faster. I was on medication for about 2 years. then it went into remission now it is back. graves disease could attack any organ , graves disease is your immune system attacks your organs not virus or bacteria.
199177 tn?1490498534 symptoms hot all of the time ,thinning hair, thirsty and hungry far more then normal, urinating and diarrhea alot .20+ weight loss and he only started at 170,moodiness.His eyes are puffy but not the doctor said the eye was in normal range I do think he think this is a big deal at all. From what I know this is not an easy thing to go threw .
Avatar n tn 07 and started taking Synthroid in January. Prior to this Iwas hospitalized and dx with Graves Disease. My question is after monthsof replacement hormones I am still coming up with numbers like 25.84 and I know norm is .3-5. I also have Lupus..Do you feel the lupus has anything to do with the slow recovery from the hypothyroism that has occured as a results of my ablation....
Avatar n tn My niece was diagnosed with Graves Disease and put on some medication but not synthroid. After 2 years her doctor says the Graves Disease is gone and she was taken off of medication. I do not understand this for I had the testing and then an ablation and now I wonder if I needed it. I had the uptake test and they said it revealed Graves. I am told I have Graves controlled and will always be hypothyroid. I am confused.
Avatar n tn the author Elaine Moore, who wrote books on Graves says that normal people have no tsi or 2 percent, I think. Mine was 109 at diagnosis, even though the normal goes up to 125, that's bull! Some just don't feel symptoms till they reach that. I had an uptake scan too, which was normal but on the high side. I have heard the TRab test or the TBII is supposed to show remission. My doc argues this, he says it's just for diagnosing Graves. What was your TSI? What are your labs?
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with graves disease in 2000, in 2003 I had RAOI Treatment, I then went under active. I have been on synthroid of 1.75mcg, I have recently been taken off the synthroid because the endo thinks my Graves disease is coming out of remission. What does this mean? My last TSH on 27Oct12 was <0.01L nad my T4,FREE is 1.2. The endo has repeated the TSH, T4,FREE and also ordered the T3,FREE nad TSI. I haven't received those results yet.
1398190 tn?1290292799 There should be no obstacle, from a thyroid standpoint, with trying for another pregnancy. The key issues are 1) to keep TSH in the 0.3-2.
Avatar n tn At first my endocrinologist was reluctant to prescribe more than a token amount of levosynthroid, although I was becoming symptomatic with hypothyroid symptoms. She feared Graves disease returning. I see her every 6 weeks and get blood drawn, and she has gradually raised the synthroid every time so that I am up to 112 mg per day. Obviously, every time I get labs done, I am thyroid-deficient. The last TSH level was 9.5. 9.5 is high, but not super high. Nonetheless, I feel exhausted.
Avatar f tn I could be mistaken - but I have looked the evidence over and talked with people here and the theory of RAI and cancer you talk about is reversed. I as an RAI patients back in 2003 was recently informed by an ENT that people that do have RAI - that develop nodules are at a higher risk on the nodule being carcimona. That is not very enlightening for me b/c they found I do have a solid nodule now. I am on Armour - no there is no blood. //// yuckie..... Graves speeds up your body.
