541196 tn?1293552936 My endocrinologist recently ordered a lot of blood tests to help figure out what is going on with me. I am 29 years old, in the last year have gained 40 lbs when I have always been very thin and recently diagnosed type 2 diabetic. I have purple stretch marks on my thighs, but no new marks on my stomach. I itch a lot and have headaches. My vision has decreased and occassionally feel like it's slightly tunneled. I get dizzy frequently.
1085124 tn?1256507063 Hi, I'm hyperthyroid too, due to Graves disease. I'm 40 years old and last few months had breast tenderness from ovulation right up until my period starts, which is for 2 weeks at least. What are your thyroid levels maybe we could compare?
552173 tn?1282603290 Have you recently started Birth Control pills? I know that when I start a new BC pill, my period lasts about 3 weeks... it's a real pain. I dunno why it does that.
Avatar f tn ) I have done tons of research over the past 25 years and I can tell you birth control pills are NOT the way to go. Ultimately the choice is yours and hers, and any thing I say is just advice of course.
257333 tn?1212444612 The labs all vary -- also if you are on birth control pills it will increase total T4. Would usually try to keep T4 and T3 in the mid/upper range on T4 treatment until the TSH comes up (it may take a few months for TSH to increase after treatment for Graves), then the TSH becomes the best reflection of T4 dose.
Avatar f tn said i was not ovulating because of my thyroid isues but i dont understant because i get periods every month, can this be possible? and she even gave me birth control pills, because she dosent want me to get pregnant for now because she fear i have silent thyroid issues and i cant passe it to my baby, can she be right?
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with Graves in January 2012. Now, that I'm aware of the symptoms, I believe I've had Graves for about a year and a half prior to being diagnosed. I'd been back and forth to the ER and no one could tell me what was wrong. In May 2011, I was admitted to the ER because the entire left side of my face went numb, I had stroke like symptoms. I was in the ER throwing up for about 12 hrs and still, no one could tell me what was going on.
919799 tn?1246034066 My dr is sending me to a thyroid specialist but he says it could be my birth control making my thyroid hormones high and I may need to stop taking them.Has anyone ever had this problem with birth control pills? Could it be the cause? He said I may be HYPERthyroid due to my pills and if I stop taking them it will go down.I went to my dr because I started losing alot of hair Its been coming out for the past month. Its so bad I have some bald areas and its very thin.
Avatar f tn Question for anyone who can help!! I had switched my birth control pills due to never wanting to have sex and because I always felt grouchy. I started new pills which gave me a yeast infection and made me feel very emotional at times. Do a week and a half before finishing the pack I stopped them. Right after stopping them I got a wheezing in my lungs. I let it go for about 2 weeks before I went to the doc thinking it was just bronchitis.
Avatar f tn They have removed me off of my medicine one time to see if my Graves disease had went into remission and within two months it came back with TSH levels of 0.003...basically non-existant TSH levels. They put me back on my 10mg Methmazole and within 3 weeks my levels were normal. That is pretty much a health summary of my graves disease for the past five-six years lol.
Avatar f tn Geographic tongue has been linked with various conditions including vitamin B deficiencies, zinc deficiency, anaemia, psoriasis or other skin disorders, allergies or autoimmune disorders, diabetes, stress, birth control pills, hormonal changes. Most thyroid conditions in developed countries are autoimmune - Hashimoto's thyroiditis, Graves' disease. Thyroid antibodies are recommended when thyroid disease is suspected. What other symptoms do you have?
Avatar f tn she gave 100mg of methymazole, after a month i started having this ugly muscle pain and in my blood results show problems with liver and kidneys and nobody listen to me , so i had to change specialist, then he run some test. When i went back to get my results he told me to get the radiation that it's my only option because i have severe hyperthyroidism.I went to get like a scan of my thyroid and a reading on my thyroid.
Avatar f tn I stopped taking my birth control 14 months ago and didn't wait til my cycle was over, I still had half of my pills left. Two days after I stopped I had the biggest most horrible period of my life, and it had only been a week since I had been on my period.my question is, since I didn't wait until I was done with my pills did it wack my hormones out so much that its making it hard to conceive?
Avatar n tn They will work with young ladies of your age and do an exam and provide birth control pills if it is right for you and often without parental involvement. do you have Planned Parenthood in your area? I know parents don't want their babies (and you are always their baby) having sex. But your step mom (and dad) will be happy you are being responsible. Teen pregnancy is an epidemic and really can mess up someone's future if they had other plans like college and career.
Avatar f tn I've just been diagnosed with Graves' Disease. I have autoimmune thyroid disease that has changed from being primary Hashimoto's thyroiditis to Graves's Disease. I was diagnosed in 1997 with Fibromyalgia. I also have severe osteoarthritis, especially in both hands. What am I doing wrong? The doctor told me I'm a very strange case. What's that mean?
Avatar n tn I also feel unprotected without a condom. And for me birth control pills is not an option. I know that there are lot's of them with a very high quality, I read it here: http://motherhow.com/types-of-birth-control-pills/ But still...
Avatar n tn Birth control pills are generally safe and considered a good option for many women to prevent pregnancy. There are different types and working with your doctor to find the best one is the thing to do. This is between you and your doctor but it is untrue that taking birth control pills 'has side effects on your whole reproductive system" unless you consider it doing what it is supposed to while taking it, preventing pregnancy.
Avatar f tn suggested I go back on BC pills (which I have been off for about 4 years now) to see if it will help with symptoms. I started BC pills and took 1 month....I feel AWFUL. Horrible heartburn and nausea every single day. Heartburn so bad that when I lay down sometimes I feel like I'm going to throw up. I persevered and thought I would see if it worked itself out. After my 21 day pack was gone and I was on my week off.....all heartburn and nausea stopped.
Avatar f tn Hello, Since you had unprotected intercourse but you are having birth control pills so chances of pregnancy are less. If you are apprehensive regarding the status of pregnancy then the status of pregnancy needs to be made clear. To confirm the status of pregnancy, I suggest you to test for pregnancy by a highly sensitive pregnancy test 10 days post ovulation with a sensitive ( 20 - 25 mIU ) pregnancy test.
