I tell you what, they don't make them like they used to. Nobody can replace Elvis, the King of Rock. He had the most beautiful voice. It's so sad how he went downhill towards the end. I try to just remember him from his good days.

I deeply encourage people, even those not into rock to listen to this. Simply go to Youtube.com and search the songs I named and even watch the videos. It helps me so much and like this site, lets me know that theyre are others going through the same thing. I MEAN IT!!! Check em out, you'll be impressed. Music moves the soul... and can get baby grooving while still in the womb, too! I thought it'd be fun to see what everyone listens to and list their favorite bands and songs. I'm always looking for more bands and music in the genres I like to listen to and it's always fun to see who listens to what because sometimes it can be surprising (like most people assume I like pop by looking at me but I actually rock out to alternative Christian music).

Another good Kid Rock song is "only God knows why" "It's not my time" by 3 doors down is a good one too. I crank this when I have a craving and as sara said "rise above this" is a great tune, one of my favourites.

There is NO way I can narrow this down to one choice!!! LOL I have a very wide range of music that I love listening to-from heavy rock like Panterra, disco-Blondie, and classical Mozart. I'm not a huge fan of country music-I will admit to liking a few songs, like Carrie Underwood's-Before He Cheats (title????).

I don't have this happen really where music "sets me off" so to speak but I only experience anxiety in terms of mood issues and no depression or mania according to the hospital when I was there a few weeks ago.

Anyone else have songs that they like and that helped them through hard times? I also love almost lover by a fine frenzy because pills were my lover for quite a while. These are not new songs but they are two of my fav that help me through these hard times. Would love to here some of yours.

More along my lines. I like to listen to something depressing such as anything by Nick Drake or Syd Barrett and work those feelings out. Then having gotten over them I move on. I tend to listen to cheerier music when I am hypomanic. Its only recently after recovery from psychosis that I am aware of it but the music I listen to matches the affect I am in. As for Pink Floyd I know as a kid growing up, that half of the kids when they felt angry at the world listened to "The Wall".

rather than blaring my heavy metal and annoying my guests, I chose to stream some upbeat rock songs from my phone to a bluetooth speaker. that just played in the background and was more than sufficient to add good mood to the atmosphere.

Jean, I rocked myself to sleep from age 6 or so until age 12. I lay on my left side, and struck a pillow with my right hand each time I rocked. I couldn't sleep well without my rocking routine. I did eventually outgrow it. At about 7 or 8 I started singing songs as I rocked. Songs I'd learned in school, Beatles songs, etc. I don't think I rocked as hard as your boy does, but rocking helped me burn off excess energy, and I developed a good singing voice over the years.

Yes I would remember if I heard the songs. My brain was pretty fried up back then. Yep those were the glory years of nothing but fun, and low responsibility. Drugs, sex, and rock and roll .
