Good fasting blood glucose level

Common Questions and Answers about Good fasting blood glucose level

blood-glucose

Avatar n tn Just got results from annual bloodwork. Glucose level was 270 and this was a fasting blood test. They told me it was high- How bad is it? My dr. was suspicious because I have lost weight and have a few other symptoms. So I am glad they tested, but do not have a follow up appt for another month. Any info is appreciated.
Avatar m tn Also testing two hours after meals is a good way of seeing how different foods affect your blood glucose and knowing then what is good and not so good for you to eat. So bottom line is there is no absolute time you have to test but it does provide you with important information about managing your diabetes.
Avatar n tn thanks for that but does not answer question about whether the level will increase or decrease from random(non fasting).
Avatar f tn I am sure the doctor will get back to you, but you really have to make sure and show this to your child's doctor. I have learned that the blood sugars he is having are not normal and he needs to be seen tomorrow. He needs the follow up testing asap and needs an A1C test. This shows the average blood sugar over the last few months. It showed my daughter to have a glucose intolerance. Good Luck. Becky This is on the american diabetes association website.
Avatar f tn I am a type II diabetic and I would like to know what is considered a "good" blood sugar reading for me when I test at different times of the day....before meals, after meals, fasting in the morning, at bedtime and other random times during the day.
Avatar n tn ve done finger/arm tests throughout the day and have not had anything remotely abnormal. I had a fasting blood sugar level of 93 first thing in the AM and all my levels after eating were 135 or below. Could the 191 have been error? Should I request to have the one hour test repeated first before I torture myself with the three hour test? Or should I just suck it up and do the test.
Avatar f tn Normal fasting blood glucose for a non-diabetic person will be < 95, with ideal considered to be in the mid- to low 80s. One issue is that sometimes post meal numbers can be abnormally high, even while fasting appears normal or close to normal. So I would recommend that you request an hba1c, which is a test for average 3 month blood sugar. ideally that result will be 5.0 or less. You could alternatively buy a blood glucose meter and test your levels from time to time.
Avatar f tn If you are having the one hour glucose test the normal after the drink is 140 and under The 3 hour test should be 180 and under after the 3 hours and if you want to know what your everyday fasting blood sugar level is 90 and under.
Avatar f tn I have a fasting blood glucose level of 101 and 102 for several years now and have been taking diovan hct and excedrin. I know these drugs have the ability to raise blood sugar readings. Should I be concerned about these readings? If I get off these drugs will my levels return to normal?
490398 tn?1319940717 This is NOT a fasting glucose. My dad is diabetic and he has all of the tools to test blood. He has regular diabetes not Type 2 but it usually skips a generation. I had blood taken at the doctor last week, again, not fasting, for other health problems and it came back at 169. My doc obviously wants to retest me when I've been fasting and get an A1c.
Avatar m tn While your response is individual, in my experience, intense physical activity can make blood sugars high (this is due to the effect of adrenaline and also the liver releasing glucose). The high may be followed by lows later. Longer / less intense exercise may not have an immediate obvious impact at the time of exercise or it may make blood sugars go lower. I find long duration exercise will make my sugars go lower many hours later. What do do? 1.
Avatar n tn In the event that you had a fasting blood glucose test, a dimension somewhere in the range of 70 and 100 mg/dL (3.9 and 5.6 mmol/L) is viewed as ordinary. In the event that you had an arbitrary blood glucose test, an ordinary outcome relies upon when you last ate. More often than not, the blood glucose level will be underneath 125 mg/dL (6.
254215 tn?1195093384 I had random blood work done in early december... my glucose came back at 134 so the doc wanted to do a fasting test. Although, the blood was drawn approx 1hr after eating a huge meal of pizza and mountain dew. So the fasting test was done and came back at 104. Everything I read says this is pre-diabetic! Since then I've had a random test done (around 3:30pm) and it came back at 98.
Avatar n tn Here is some more information on blood glucose ranges and blood sugar testing for you from MedHelp.org and the Sugar Sense app. http://www.medhelp.org/diabetes/articles/Be-Blood-Sugar-Savvy/1777 If you enter enough data over enough days, our app gives you an average A1C -- this is your 3 month average amount of glucose in your blood. It's likely a better measure than the daily averages from your meter, as Mindmaster points out. Here's a little more about the A1C: http://www.medhelp.
Avatar m tn I can say that the fasting test shows your glucose level at one moment in time. Your A1c tells you what your average glucose levels were over the past 3 months so since that was normal, that's a good sign. There are many reasons that blood sugar could be high and stress is one of them. Also certain medications and supplements such as niacin and steroids can raise your blood sugar. I'm not in the medical field; this is information I've learned in doing my own research.
Avatar n tn t tell a doctor what is going with your glucose levels at all times of the day. Home glucose meters are good to see how well one is managing their glucose levels. Having scaled results (high to low, or normal to near high or above) calls for an A1c test to see the entire picture. An A1c test measures your glucose going back three months. Why three months? On the average, new red blood cells live three months before dieing off and getting turned into Bilirubin.
1538488 tn?1331483305 My fasting blood glucose is 110-125 mg/dl.hba1c is 7.96. My age is 57 years. After 2 hrs of b/f 165-190mg/dl. No medication.Glucose level slightly increase after exercise in the morning .What action is to be taken?
Avatar n tn The range of 70-126 is considered normal before eating a meal, or as a fasting glucose level. So although the one test at slightly above 200 does seem suspect, one test alone is probably not something your doctor would base a diagnosis on. Most doctors will do a fasting glucose reading, perhaps a glucose tolerance test, or perhaps a hemoglobin a1c test, which would show the average glucose level in your body during a 3-month period.
Avatar n tn Would you say this is out of the normal range. I had blood work done about a month ago when I had my annual physical and my sugar level came back at 109. My doctor didn't seem to alarmed.
Avatar m tn I had 134 mg/dl glucose level 3 hours after eating. Fasting level was 90. Are they normal?
752468 tn?1237560359 Hi...I am a member of the Breast Cancer Community and just found out that my husband's blood glucose level fasting is 250. He has had the symptoms of diabetis ...excessive thirst, weight loss...tingly feet, and I noticed very sticky spots of urine on the bathroom floor. We are not surprised that he has diabetis...runs in the family. My question is, where do we go first. He hasn't even talked to a doctor yet, but we want to get a jump on this.
