Avatar m tn Hi! I'm in a 20ui HUMALOG after meals regiment, however, in between meals and during the night my blood sugar levels drop below 70. Should I stop taking the HUMALOG?
Avatar n tn The test itself is really a pain but I am happy I did it. It turns out my blood sugar drops extremely low after meals and this is accompanied by heart palpitations. It is worth checking it out if your doctor cannot come up with a reason for your PVCs. This discussion is related to PVC'S.
Avatar f tn Thanks for using the forum. The diagnosis of diabetes can lead to many lifestyle changes. Changing your diet can be very difficult. Often people are left feeling deprived of favorite foods. Often we use carbohydrates as "fillers" with our meals. Decreasing or eliminating them can leave us hungry soon after a meal. If possible I would recommend that you speak with a nutritionist. Your doctor may have one that they can recommend.
Avatar m tn too much, it overstimulates it, too little is not good either... bread and carbohydrates can spike up our insulin and you will crave for them the more you eat them.... No carbohydrates at all is not good for us, our bodies need all the nutrients but you can cut down the white bread and substitute with complex carbs, some cereal in the morning and you will feel ok, eat five or six small meals a day so that you control the insulin levels and you won't have those strong cravings of it.
Avatar n tn Try to make sure you are balancing carbohydrates and proteins with every meal. Make sure he gets a well rounded meal that is in good portion control. Also if he eats breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack--smaller meals all day may be very helpful as well. I looked online and it was a little difficult to obtain the information you are looking for. I would try to narrow down the search a little bit.
Avatar f tn Have meals with the right balance of proteins, carbohydrates, and the right kinds of fat (such as unsaturated and monounsaturated fats, olive oil, canola oil, pistachios, almonds and walnuts). Heinemann suggests the following ratio: 60%-70% carbohydrates, 10%-15% protein, and a small amount of fat. Eat foods higher in calories, vitamins, and minerals, as opposed to higher in fat or sugar. Pack more nutritious calories in each serving.
Avatar f tn Water between meals! To feel you up. It helps me... it could be your thirsty not hungry.
Avatar f tn Nut butters Avocado Include lots of protein too for your muscles Maybe have 2 protein shakes a day AS WELL as your normal meals. Eat 5 times a day still so you're metabolism is still good Have a hot glass of milk before bed at night (full fat) it will help you sleep too. Add a tablespoon of olive oil to your meals.
Avatar f tn It may be because after the body uses simple sugars, carbohydrates breaks down next for energy & if the body with dysautonomia gets higher amounts of carbs, it's like an overload of energy to our messed up bodies? I know I have a problem with large meals or with a meal like pancakes and syrup or when I drink a some soda w/sugar in it (I try to let it go fairly flat due to having IC).

Avatar n tn If this is the case, the best treatment is to have several(usually 406) small mixed meals during the day instead of 2-3 big ones that tend to be heavy in carbohydrates. The small meals should have a portion of protein, carbohydrate and fats. Try to avoid simple sugars like sweets, sodas etc, as well as meals that are predominantly carbohydrates. This should help. If you continue having low blood sugars or ever get to a point of passing out please seek medical help as soon as possible.
1597722 tn?1297379694 Have five to six small meals in a day. Cut off sugars and carbohydrates. Eat more protein rich food. Like chicken, fish, egg whites etc. But remember you need to workout as well. Aerobics or dancing is the fastest ways to lose weight. 1 hour exercise daily. It could be cycling, jogging, or aerobics. I mean cardiovascular exercises. Don't skip meals or else you will gain weight instead. Eat healthy. Lower down your carbohydrate consumption.

Avatar n tn t think that it makes any difference whether your child eats regular meals or variable meals with snacks as long as you know how to count the carbohydrates and adjust insulin accordingly. Obviously, those who eat according to a set meal plan have their lives simplified by not having to do the math for every single meal, but some folks prefer to have the flexibility of being able to eat what they want to and adjust the insulin.
Avatar f tn And 2 carbs per snack. There are very good charts available online to help you guage the carbohydrates in fresh foods as well. Also try to eat at the same times daily. This will help keep your sugar levels stable and keep from putting a demand on your pancreas from binging because you skip meals or go long periods between eating. Your doctor will most likely have you check your sugars several times a day for a week or two and then will determine what the best treatment plan is for you.
Avatar f tn Try to excersie , light excerise is very good at your stage, going for a 30 min walk before breakfast, go for walks after meals, swimming is an awsome excersie specially during pregnancy as you can get a full body work out and it is the safest and healthiest excersie. Avoid carbohydrates such as rice , pasta white bread ect.. and drink plenty of fluids mainly water.
Avatar f tn This can result in feeling weak and nutritional deficiencies as food is not absorbed. This is treated by taking small frequent meals, drinking fluids in between meals, taking more of proteins and less of carbohydrates and simple sugars (total no). Generally this is due to increased secretion of insulin from the pancreas. This can be overcome by increasing fiber in diet. Along with reduced insulin secretion this delays gastric emptying.
