Common Questions and Answers about Glucose water for babies

glucose

Avatar n tn between 70-126 is the number range that many doctors use. But this is for fasting glucose levels only. After meals, it is normal for glucose levels to rise above this, and the numbers quoted as 'normal' vary, depending on which doctor you talk to. I have read that a number of about 140-150 is considered healthy for after-meal sugar levels.
Avatar f tn Ok cause a friend of mine as I they cant have it till 6 months
Avatar f tn You are completely right your not suppose to give water to a newborn. Breast milk or formula is enough for a baby it'll fill there tummy an keep them hydrated water is not good for them at least right now it's not I believe my doctor told me to wait til 6 months an older when I had my daughter.
Avatar f tn You have to fast water was okay for me
Avatar f tn Well I've always drink water. Since I've been pregnant I drank so much more water. Example a 32pk of aquafina water last for 4days. There's nothing wrong with it , this is my 3rd pregnancy both previous healthy 8pounds babies. My fluid was clear skin was hydrated nails hair etc . I would just say like some women crave food etc I crave water alot of it particularly aquafina brand. It slows down after the baby but I still drink alot because of breastfeeding. So I would say drink up.

Avatar f tn Drinking large amounts of water as such is a sign of diabetes. I would keep an eye on this and if it continues inform your doctor so they can check for you and your babies safety. It's preventable if caught early!
Avatar f tn Hey ladies... I've been nervous all day and can't sleep because I had an appt with my specialist today, which I'm seeing due to the fact that I'm carrying twins and have had a miscarriage before, and when they did my ultrasound they found excess amniotic fluids in one of my baby's sac. Dr told me to not worry it could be that I have developed gestational diabetes although I just got checked 3 weeks ago and it came back normal.
Avatar f tn When I took ny glucose test I failed the first mine failed wasn't aware not to drink anything besides water when I got up they let me bring the drink home I ended up drinking 2 sips if diet coke and it made me fail the test. Had to go back for the 3 hour test the waiting is what ***** because you have to stay there the 3 hour test is broken down into 4 tests. 1 before you drink anything 1 after a hour of drinking the flat tasting orange soda 1 after two hours && 1 after three hours.

Avatar f tn So I've been doing a lot of research on different birth options. I don't want to have any epidural or to be induced, everything I've found says it will increase the risk if c-section which I would like to avoid at all costs. I'm really interested in water birth. From what I've found it reduces stress on the baby, less chance of tearing down there, and is more relaxing for the mother. Along with many other benefits.
Avatar f tn I just had my shot for being negative. Along with the glucose test. But I did not need to fast. I was told to go about Normally and come in for the 1hr glucose then the rh shot.
Avatar m tn I would like to buy some glucometer for continuous glucose monitoring (CGM). Do you have any personal experience with this type of monitoring? Can you recommend me any device? Thanks a lot.
Avatar f tn Its not necessary for breastfeeding moms to give their babies water. Formula fed babies are the ones in need of water.
178590 tn?1294176767 Good job! Didn't the drink make you a bit dizzy?? or were you not fasting? I had it done yesterday... and after I drank it TJ began moving like CRAZY! He hasn't really stopped! BTW... I thought the drink tasted ok... like a defrosted Icepop or Otterpop! Just more sugary....
14869466 tn?1447439017 I failed my 1hr glucose screening test but passed my 3hr one... For those who failed both and was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes how did it affect you and your pregnancy? Is it difficult dealing with? Does it bother you alot? I'm just curious?
1763618 tn?1315807367 To help your kidneys and blood pressure drink lots of water; no diet sodas and for sure no energy/sports drinks and fruit juices. Drinking lots of water flushes your kidneys and helps maintain blood pressure.
Avatar f tn Then the second time I would go to the restroom and splash my face with. Cold water and take a sip of water then walk for about 2 minutes just to get my body to work a little. This really seemed to help me.
Avatar n tn Ive seen a lot of women do that. And as for the babies size idk you can check your week by week thing on this app to see what size your baby should be. Youll be fine mama just remember if your blood sugar is consistently too high your baby can over grow my son was only 6.13lbs but i kept my sugar under control. And if you keep eating unhealthy then when the baby is born once the cord is cut the babies sugar level could drop drastically and have to be put on a sugar water drip.
Avatar f tn My wife had diabetes through both of her pregnancies. We were told that there was a chance of the babies being born with an inflated birth weight, much bigger than say 9 lbs. There were a few other things that I cannot remember off the top of my head. Believe it or not, the way around being paranoid, to some extent is getting a proper education on diabetes. Was this gestational diabetes? Do you have any other medical conditions that might complicate a pregnancy? Is this type 2 diabetes?
Avatar f tn Yes felt really dizzy and I didn't pass had to take the 3 hour test and also failed it. But its not the same for everyone.
Avatar f tn do the three hour test. Just wondering how many moms failed the one hour and passed the three hour? And for those.moms who have GD what do you have to do now? How has it changed your pregnancy?
Avatar n tn The first few weeks and the very end of the pregnancy are considered the very most important for great glucose control -- the first weeks because the fetus is developing the most at that time, and we don't want anything to go wrong with him or her; and the last part of the pregnancy because high glucose levels can damage the placenta and cause it to not nourish that large baby enough, resulting in loss of the baby near the end of the pregnancy. Now, most of us do just fine.
