Common Questions and Answers about Glucose vs carbon dioxide

glucose

Avatar f tn what causes your carbon dioxide levels to be high in blood work?????? My son has slightly high levels and a spot on his lung, they think it's scar tissue for the spot but what about the carbon?
1047522 tn?1258145704 Thanks for the suggestion. We just wanted to let you know that we've added glucose, potassium, chloride, phosphate, carbon dioxide, diuretics, and ACE inhibitors to the Kidney Tracker. We've also renamed GFR to eGFR. Thanks, MedHelp ------------------- View a gallery of Kidney Trackers: http://www.medhelp.
Avatar m tn Altho the heart and lung are within the same part of our body cavity these are two totally seperate issues. Respiratory failure is simply when the mix of oxygen and carbon dioxide in our lungs are out of whack and the balance of the two are off and Heart Failure is when the heart cannot pump enough blood thru out our bodies.
Avatar n tn It is caused by over breathing which messes up the balance of carbon dioxide and oxygen. Everyone on this post has chronic hyperventilation I am sure of it. Your blood HAS to have the proper amount of carbon dioxide to be able to deliver the oxygen to the cells including the brain cells. Over breathing blows off to much carbon dioxide and the oxygen just rides around in the blood but can't make the exchange to the cells due to the low carbon dioxide.
179856 tn?1333547362 OK question for cirrhotics or those who know - my carbon dioxide number on my latest blood work is 20. Normal is 21 - 33. OK I look it up......it says it's an indicator of cirrhosis. As a stage 3er, SVR for 4 years I'm kind of concerned about that. My bilirubin is still the same at .2 with normal being .2 - 1.2 Anybody have any input, I'm sure later today my doctor is going to have a lot of it and want to be prepared. Guess I should get rebiopsied? Am I typically over reacting?
Avatar m tn suggests the presence of what are called Kusmal respirations, which are a result of the body attempting to blow off carbon dioxide to return the level to normal. With people having insulin utilization problems this is often due to a low level of insulin, which forces the body to utilize an alternative mechanism to use the glucose. When you visit your physician ask to have what is called an hba1c test.
Avatar n tn t take a deep enough breath to remove all the carbon dioxide in my lungs. I can do it occasionally but it feels like my lungs fill up immediately and I need to dispel the carbon dioxide but am unable to. This seems odd to me and I am unable to find any information on this symptom. Sometimes this occurs at night and I just need to get up and walk around and then I am able to expel the carbon dioxide.
Avatar n tn My husband's bloodtest also show low testoterone and high carbon dioxide. Are these related in any way to a fatty liver? Is it rare for a 28 year old man to have liver cancer?
Avatar f tn (CNN) -- An upper layer of Earth's atmosphere recently shrank so much that researchers are at a loss to adequately explain it, NASA said on Thursday. The thermosphere, which blocks harmful ultraviolet rays, expands and contracts regularly due to the sun's activities. As carbon dioxide increases, it has a cooling effect at such high altitudes, which also contributes to the contraction.
Avatar n tn You see in the summer there are plants everywhere thriving and growing, consuming all of the carbon dioxide in the air. In the winter there are no plants, so we end up with an over-abudance of carbon dioxide in the air and little amount of oxygen. Which in turn is what viruses thrive on as they hate oxygen. This winter relate in december and January as you will fell run down and tired. This is due to a drop in oxygen levels and a rise in carbon dioxide in the air.
Avatar m tn blood work came back with low carbon dioxide level of 16, 1st time out of normal range. BUN was a little high 30, been this way a while, all other kidney functions fine creatinine level 1.17 gfr 65. I am a 64 year old male with controlled Diabetes a1c 5.4, walk 4 miles everyday weight under control. rest of electrolyte panel in normal range. should I BE worried about low carbon dioxide level?
Avatar n tn The interesting pieces of the puzzle seem to be CO2 receptors, which detects carbon dioxide in the blood and airways, as well as the ventrolateral medulla, which triggers normal respiration. Inadequate carbon dioxide presence reduces autonomic (normal) breathing. Excessive sensing of carbon dioxide, by the receptors and/or medulla, triggers sudden intakes of breath or hyperventilation.
148588 tn?1465778809 But volcanic gases like sulfur dioxide can cause global cooling, while volcanic carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas, has the potential to promote global warming. The most significant climate impacts from volcanic injections into the stratosphere come from the conversion of sulfur dioxide to sulfuric acid, which condenses rapidly in the stratosphere to form fine sulfate aerosols.
Avatar f tn Because when we get anxious and begin to hyperventalate, our heart rates and our breathing are two of the most noticeable effects the imbalance of carbon dioxide produces. As XnxietyGuy has stated, learning some good breathing techniques is virtually essential for those of us with anxiety/panic. I know that a great many people, myself included, sort of "poo-pooed" breathing as anything beneficial.........
Avatar f tn I was worried that I might have to repeat treatment. However I forgot to include that my carbon dioxide level is low which can be indicative of liver disease. Will this level always be low due to the presence of the Hep C virus?
