glucose

Avatar n tn If your two-hour glucose tolerance is 140 mg/dL (7.77 mmol/L) to 199 mg/dL (11.05 mmol/L), you may have prediabetes. What level suggests type 1 or type 2 diabetes? A blood sugar of 200 mg/dL (11.11 mmol/L) or higher two hours after you drink the sugar solution indicates you may have type 1 or type 2 diabetes. Your doctor may repeat this and other tests to confirm a diagnosis. ___________________________________ What is a fasting blood sugar test?
Avatar m tn Of course, this should be discussed with your prescribing physician. But those seem like pretty normal results.
Avatar n tn I'm a 53 year old woman who just had a 3 hour glucose tolerance test, here are my results: Fasting - 106 1 hour - 210 2 hour - 230 3 hour - 167 I'm not sure if these results mean I'm a pre-diabetic or diabetic. Thank you for your help in advance.
403153 tn?1297254495 After 1 hour my glucose level was 6.7 mmol/l (normal less than 7.8). That means I don`t need the 3 hour test (Glucose tolerance diagnostic test). Now I can be calm.
Avatar n tn I wasn't for sure where to post this question, but I know that the people on this site are a great resource for similar experiences. I am a 20 year old female, 5'8" 110 pounds (skinny, I know) and I don't have medical insurance, but was given an oral glucose tolerance test through the health department. I am a college student who works full-time, and I will have insurance when I graduate.
Avatar f tn They would give you a sugary drink, 2 hours after, if your blood sugar is greater than 11.1 mmol/L, then you would be considered diabetic. If blood sugar is between 7.8 -11 mmol/L, then you are prediabetic (this means borderline diabetes and you do have chance to go back to normal). Another way to get diagnosed of diabetes is to have your fasting blood sugar tested. Fasting refers to no caloric intake for at least 8 hours. if fasting blood sugar is more than 7.

Avatar m tn If you are concern about it, you could get a test done to see if you are diabetic/prediabetic/healthy. The test is a two hour glucose tolerance test. you have to fast for 8 or 12 hours, they test your fasting glucose, then they give a sugary drink. 2 hours after, they test your blood sugar again. if your blood sugar is >11.
Avatar n tn This is important to know as the two most common glucose test results are identified as mg/dl [American] and mmol/l [European] and differ in meaning from each other. As such, we cannot tell if the glucose level of 16 was prandial [before a meal] or postprandia] [after a meal] so I'll present both sides as prandial. Glucose of 16 mg/dl: This is dangerously low as it could put your husband into coma.
Avatar m tn Your home meter [test kit] could also be whacked giving you inaccurate test results. Not all meters are accurate as I stated in my Medhelp Forum July 19, 2009 post, "Tighter Standard Needed on Diabetes Meters". To back this claim, in September 2008 Consumer Reports, a US based nonprofit organization, test results showed "The OneTouch UltraMini [Johnson & Johnson], the only meter to score excellent overall, also scored the highest for consistency.
