Avatar f tn I have a glucose tolerance test tomorrow & I have not been given any information on or about it. My mum has rang my GP surgery this morning for info and they have told her that i can't have a cigarette after 10pm tonight until I have had my 2nd blood test... is this right? No hate please about smoking in pregnancy I just want advice because surely a cigarette has nothing to do with my sugar tolerance...
Avatar f tn Did anyone else feel really drained after having a glucose tolerance test? I had one before and this one now 2 weeks later and I feel really drained.
Avatar f tn Some people say it's bad it ***** etc.. but for me it went pretty well besides feeling a little light headed after. I couldn't eat before going in . (So that's why it's best to go in the morning .) I had to drink the fruit punch kind under 3 minutes . Didn't taste bad . Tasted normal lol Then wait an hour in the waiting room & then got my blood drawn from my right arm . I had mine done at 28weeks.
Avatar f tn You cannot give yourself GD by eating sweets however you could have had a higher level of glucose in your body becuase of the eating sweets. I've done that and failed the 1 hour glucose test with all but 1 of my pregnancies. Lay off the sweets for several days before your next test. Then see what it shows. I have always passed my 3 hr, I just really have to watch my sugar intake in the days leading up. Give it several days beforehand, not just one or two.
Avatar f tn What did yall eat before going in for your glucose test?
999058 tn?1257563650 Her levels were back down to normal; 98, and her A1C was 4. The doctor wants her pediatrician to do a glucose tolerance test tomorrow (today) and told us we need to keep an eye on this. We are going to see her pediatrician this morning but since she woke up so early, I was not able to keep her fasting for the possibility of getting her in for a tolerance test today. We were all left kind of scratching our heads.
Avatar f tn Hey i failed the 1st one with my son bc i ate all day my test wasnt until 4om and had to go back for the 3hr. Do yourself a favor go 1st thing in the morning do not eat or drink after 9pm the night before and you should do fine. You get the results in 24 hrs.
1209036 tn?1299178657 A blood sample will be taken from a vein in your arm about 60 minutes after drinking the solution. The blood test measures how the glucose solution was metabolized (processed by the body). A blood glucose of 140mg/dL will identify 80% of women with gestational diabetes. When that cutoff is lowered to 130mg/dL the yield increases to 90%.
Avatar n tn I'm a 53 year old woman who just had a 3 hour glucose tolerance test, here are my results: Fasting - 106 1 hour - 210 2 hour - 230 3 hour - 167 I'm not sure if these results mean I'm a pre-diabetic or diabetic. Thank you for your help in advance.
5864651 tn?1396931970 I was was wondering what the glucose tolerance test involved I live in the uk and have the 3 hour one on the 8th of january im currently 27w1d. All that it says on the letter ive got from the hospital is that its 3 hour and I have to starve myself and only drink water from 11 oclock the night before.
4141598 tn?1353918254 Just because you had a positive glucose screening test, it does not necessarily mean that you definitely have gestational diabetes. YOu will need to go for a second (longer) glucose tolerance test. You need to ask your doctor if you have to fast for this test. Usually water is OK, but you should ask ahead of time just to be sure- you don't want to have to repeat it. Good luck.
Avatar f tn My doctor told me to eat a bacon and egg biscuit the morning of my glucose test . And What should I expect ? Most ppl say not to eat the night before the glucose test... but my doctor told me to.
1057195 tn?1289363329 I am worried about taking the test at the end of this month. I have to take the hour test on April 29 to determin if I have gesgational diabetes also. I guess if I fail the first one, I have to move on to the 3 hour test. I am nervous about the whole thing too but I believe it can be controlled with a proper diet and exercise.
2187006 tn?1346698119 Hey! 29wks and ftm. Just checked in for my GTT test, had my blood taken and the glucose drink (surprisingly nice) now gotta wait 2hours without leaving the ward ?!
Avatar m tn Finally, there is no need for concern that the light will damage the babies eyes. It is dark in there, and unless the light is extremely bright, it won't shine through into the uterus, and baby probably will not even notice it. Good luck!
Avatar f tn Because if your glucose is too on the screening test you will need to take the full glucose tolerance test (diagnostic test). Which is a pain. I failed my 1 hour test (1 point too high) so had to do the full three hour test. For this you do have to fast for at least 8-10 hours before the test. You have to drink twice as much sugar water (100 gm). And you have to wait there while they take multiple blood samples in that ttime.
Avatar f tn Also, you should be normally active (for example, not lying down or confined to a bed like a patient in a hospital) and taking no medicines that could affect your blood glucose. The morning of the test, you should not smoke or drink coffee. During the test, you need to lie or sit quietly. The oral glucose tolerance test is conducted by measuring blood glucose levels five times over a period of 3 hours.
Avatar f tn There was a one hour version of the Glucose Tolerance Test? No fair. I had the full fast, sit around a hospital for 2 hours of my working day one. All clesr tho.
Avatar f tn The test *****. It is dreadful simply because the test always makes me sick. Too much sugar! I have one coming up this Friday and I really don't want to go. So you might get sick but the best way to get that stuff out of ya is to drink lots of water eat a little something and go to bed. My results always came back all good but as ya get older your body does that aging thing and the body tends to the dumps. Just to put it nicely.
