1855970 tn?1325823613 well, in infants the smell of syrup can suggest diabetes. is that your only symptom?
Avatar f tn Elderly persons, on the other hand, may have less creatinine in their blood than the norm. Infants have normal levels of about 0.2 or more, depending on their muscle development. In people with malnutrition, severe weight loss, and long standing illnesses the muscle mass tends to diminish over time and, therefore, their creatinine level may be lower than expected for their age" An abnormally high value can idicate a kidney disorder.
Avatar f tn After we eat, excess glucose is stored in the liver as glycogen to maintain normal glucose levels in our body. In GSD I, the enzyme needed to release glucose from glycogen is missing. When this occurs, a person cannot maintain his or her blood glucose levels and will develop hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) within a few hours after eating. The low levels of glucose in the blood of these individuals often result in chronic hunger, fatigue, and irritability.
Avatar f tn So I am wondering if infact the infants blood test should be revised as the adults has? Has it ever been looked at I wonder? There are so many infants deaths maybe this is why it's not sids it's thyroid!?! I don't kno but I think it is definatly something that should be addressed and further looked into. My son had/has many symptoms off the list I found http://pediatrics.about.com/od/symptoms/a/06_thyroid.
Avatar f tn Good for you for stopping mama. I don't know the exact timeline- I think the test goes back to about 20 weeks of pregnancy. My best advice is to let your provider know so they are aware of it and they can be on the look out for any complications with the baby. Good luck!
Avatar f tn I failed my 1 hour glucose test on Fri. I got the lab result via email. I'm waiting to see what the doctor will say. I guess next step is the 3 hrs glucose test. I hope not to fail that one too.
Avatar n tn Changing lifestyle habits can go a long way in controlling type 2 diabetes. Restrict and avoid refined sugars and bad carbs, weight control, exercise, stress management, and even adequate sleep are all important in managing this illness, the most important, besides proper nutrition, is physical activity. The A1c level of 8.3% is very high. Continuing on this path can and will lead to other serious health complications.
Avatar f tn It is common for extremely premature infants such as your grandson to have feeding intolerance even at 2 weeks of life. Depending upon the individual baby, feeding can often seem to advance fitfully with many setbacks. This is a reflection of the immature development of the premature intestinal tract, which can take time to achieve full function.
Avatar f tn Hi Everyone, I've been diagnosed with idiopathic Small Fiber Neuropathy which I'm sure as many of you know is a common malady with diabetics. The "idiopathic" is hard to accept, so I've been doing a lot of reading and research myself, and requested an Oral Glucose Tolerance Test. I'd like to share my results of that test and other glucose-related tests and get some opinions if I could. Fasting Glucose: Low 80s (consistently) A1c: 5.
Avatar f tn So I have my glucose test in the morning. I'm sure I was told I'm not allowed to eat or drink anything from now until the test in the morning, does anyone know if this includes water?
Avatar f tn Because if your glucose is too on the screening test you will need to take the full glucose tolerance test (diagnostic test). Which is a pain. I failed my 1 hour test (1 point too high) so had to do the full three hour test. For this you do have to fast for at least 8-10 hours before the test. You have to drink twice as much sugar water (100 gm). And you have to wait there while they take multiple blood samples in that ttime.
11195379 tn?1427921527 How many of you failed the 1hour glucose test but passed the 3hour test? I had 162 and the highest you can get is 139. So my sugar was high. I tried doing the 3hour test today and puked so I have to do it again.
Avatar f tn How did we do on the 1hr glucose test. Anyone fail. Did you take the 3hr. Or did you get put on a 'diet'?
1891853 tn?1344648442 I had the 3 hour glucose test and passed it.sugar was too high on the 1 hour test . But doc says I'm ok. No gestational diabetes.

6710217 tn?1386110892 In Australia it's a 2 hour test. Not certain on America, think there is 2 diff times depending on other factors.
1117137 tn?1345227905 Results turned out fine but later that week I took the regular urine test and fingertip blood test and my glucose was high, don't know what is going on but remaining positive. Dr. visit tomorrow will get some clarification hopefully.
Avatar f tn How did u get on in your test? I have to fast from midnight and go to clinic at 8.30 where they'll test my sugar level then give me the drink then wait 2 hours and be tested again and I'll get a light snack at 11.30 before I leave. I'm not looking forward to it.
