Avatar n tn After 2 weeks, I developed a bad itching rash on my forearms. I stopped handeling the dog and the rash improved. However, during this time I had blood drawn for a physical. The results of the test were increased blood sugar (170) and blood pressure (160/70). Can these results be because of the dog?
2087711 tn?1354908175 I will be 28weeks 2mro and the baby is doing good. I took my glucose test today and she's been moving up a storm. Ever since I came home my cat that I've had since I was 12 has been up my butt. She follows me everywhere(even the bathroom) she lays right by my stomach or puts her head right on my stomach. I haven't been feeling well since taking my glucose test. I've been naueous, headaches, heartburn and diarrhea. I'm just worried that she senses something I don't.
Avatar f tn I had to drink that orange stuff today for the glucose test and ever since I've been feeling so sick. Lightheaded dizzy sleepy and bad stomach cramps. Anyone else had this reaction?
Avatar n tn My dog was diagnosed in August 2008 with diabetes. His symptoms were increased urination, increased thirst, and hind leg weakness. His initial bloodwork showed elevated glucose (450), elevated platelets and liver enzymes, and a high WBC. His liver was also enlarged. We started him on Vetsulin and an antibiotic (because of the elevated WBC), and continued his regular diet of Science Diet adult maintenance. His dose of insulin is 8 units BID.
Avatar f tn Most dogs do well on either Novolin N or Humulin N. Personally, I found Humulin N to work better for my dog. The cost of a bottle of insulin at WalMart is about $25 compared to $50 for the same thing at a regular retail pharmacy. 7. There are many diets you can use. You are not limited to w/d, which the vets seem to push! I don't know if your dog vomited because he didn't like the w/d, but maybe you have an idea about why that happened. It may have been because his sugar was high.
Avatar f tn White cells are very elevated, which indicates an infection and can cause the other quirks in the blood work. They don't seem that far out of line. Is your dog on antibiotics? If he is still not drinking he may need IV or Sub-q fluids to prevent dehydration. What did the exrays show?
Avatar f tn We are going back on Wed. to take another blood glucose level which would be 5 hours after his morning shot. What have you heard if anything about Vision Clarity Eye Drops? http://www.claritycarnosineeyedrops.com/index.php They claim cataract improvement with the eye drops. Cataract surgery is about $2000 per eye plus travel expenses round trip, they will only do one eye at a time and Joey would have to be totally blind in order for them to do surgery.
751340 tn?1233496117 s can cause the same physical symptoms, same abnormalities on bloodwork and same organ abnormalities seen on imaging. The only facility to test all adrenal steroids is the University of Tennessee Knoxville and Dr. Oliver there is the world's expert on atypical cushing's and adrenal steroids in general. I can't say enough about Dr. Oliver, his amazing expertise and his gracious giving of his time to us pet owners and our vets that have questions.
Avatar n tn Please take your dog to the vet. I'm an advocate of alternative treatments, but I wouldn't advise this in the future. The fact that your dog is bleeding and you don't know what to do tells me that you are not skilled enough to manage the minor or more serious complications that could come of this.
903476 tn?1242237037 I have a strange question. Can my diabetic dog be causing my floors to be sticky? Her two favorite places to sleep on the floor by the stairs and in front of my back door are always sticky. Shes not peeing on the floor she's house broken and paper trained and since she's been on the insulin she's no longer incontinent. She is also pure white and long haired she's a Miniature American Eskimo so I would notice if she's all covered in urine.
Avatar n tn A neighbors dog had become diabetic and the dog had to take medication. Make sure that you give the medication on time, like if it is 12 hours apart, then do it say 7am and 7 pm, it is very important. I have a dog with seizures, his is from a low thyroid. I would also suggeat that you read about the food a dog should have. Aviod giving the dog treats that increase his sugar in the blood, you might feed several times a day in small amouts?
Avatar f tn I failed my 1 hour glucose test on Fri. I got the lab result via email. I'm waiting to see what the doctor will say. I guess next step is the 3 hrs glucose test. I hope not to fail that one too.
Avatar n tn Changing lifestyle habits can go a long way in controlling type 2 diabetes. Restrict and avoid refined sugars and bad carbs, weight control, exercise, stress management, and even adequate sleep are all important in managing this illness, the most important, besides proper nutrition, is physical activity. The A1c level of 8.3% is very high. Continuing on this path can and will lead to other serious health complications.
Avatar n tn i ate some cheddar peppars and some chips. checked it again and it was 59. so i ate a chili dog without the bun. waited an hour and now its fourty.
Avatar f tn Hi Everyone, I've been diagnosed with idiopathic Small Fiber Neuropathy which I'm sure as many of you know is a common malady with diabetics. The "idiopathic" is hard to accept, so I've been doing a lot of reading and research myself, and requested an Oral Glucose Tolerance Test. I'd like to share my results of that test and other glucose-related tests and get some opinions if I could. Fasting Glucose: Low 80s (consistently) A1c: 5.
1524673 tn?1327841500 Yes, and even repetitive seizures can cause damage. You need to take the dog to the vet and get a general panel done as well, checking liver enzymes, electrolytes with glucose and a cbc.
Avatar f tn So I have my glucose test in the morning. I'm sure I was told I'm not allowed to eat or drink anything from now until the test in the morning, does anyone know if this includes water?
Avatar n tn The enlarged heart and poor eye sight may have been congenital or developmental and may not have been related to the endocrine disorder. Your dog had already been on heart medications for 3 years prior to this episode. However, electrolyte abnormalities secondary to Addison's disease can disrupt heart function and cause arrhythmias, which could worsen an existing heart condition. Addison’s disease can also cause seizure and coma due to hypoglycemia.
Avatar f tn Because if your glucose is too on the screening test you will need to take the full glucose tolerance test (diagnostic test). Which is a pain. I failed my 1 hour test (1 point too high) so had to do the full three hour test. For this you do have to fast for at least 8-10 hours before the test. You have to drink twice as much sugar water (100 gm). And you have to wait there while they take multiple blood samples in that ttime.
11195379 tn?1427921527 How many of you failed the 1hour glucose test but passed the 3hour test? I had 162 and the highest you can get is 139. So my sugar was high. I tried doing the 3hour test today and puked so I have to do it again.
Avatar f tn How did we do on the 1hr glucose test. Anyone fail. Did you take the 3hr. Or did you get put on a 'diet'?
