Common Questions and Answers about Glucose test gestational diabetes range

glucose

Avatar f tn My obgyn office says I have gestational diabetes, even though my blood sugars (tested for a week because I refused the glucose test) are within range of non-diabetic pregnant women according to the American Diabetes Association. I don't shoot up and down either, my sugars are fairly steady. Has this happened to anyone else and what did you do?
Avatar n tn I have gestational diabetes.
Avatar f tn You go into the lab and you can't eat or drink anything for the last 10-12 hours except small sips of water (do it early in the morning if possible) they give you this sugary drink (taste kinda like orange soda pop) that you have to drink within 5 minutes then you wait an hour then they draw some blood. It's done to make sure your blood sugar levels are at a normal range and that you don't have gestational diabetes.
Avatar n tn Hi, certainly it is possible to have diabetes (more likely after gestational diabetes). You probably should be checked for type 1 diabetes, which can also occur as an adult. This will involve antibody testing as well as checking blood insulin levels. Although your sugar levels are not terribly high, they do seem higher than normal. Hba1c of 5.2 is not high, and still within high normal range.
Avatar f tn If you fail the glucose test means you have gestational diabetes thats what the glucose test is for
Avatar n tn In the event that you had a fasting blood glucose test, a dimension somewhere in the range of 70 and 100 mg/dL (3.9 and 5.6 mmol/L) is viewed as ordinary. In the event that you had an arbitrary blood glucose test, an ordinary outcome relies upon when you last ate. More often than not, the blood glucose level will be underneath 125 mg/dL (6.
Avatar f tn Hi, did anyone develop gestational diabetes and if so, how are you being treated for it?
Avatar f tn Gestational diabetes puts the infant at risk for a great deal of complicantions, ranging from hypoglycemia (very low sugar) to acute respiratory distress. Other complications include high birth weight requiring c section or risk to nerves inthe arm and shoulder during vaginal birth. If mom has it but she is able to keep her blood sugars in the normal range the babies risk drop down to average.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had gestational diabetes?? Took the 1 hour glucose tolerance test and they called and said i have to come back for the three hour i go on Wednesday. grrrrr so frustrated, scared, nervous because i don't want to be doing any harm to my baby. How much should i worry what should i do now??
Avatar f tn Just got a call this morning saying I failed my test. My glucose was 135. I have to go back this week for the 3 hour test. I'm scared. I don't even know what gestational diabetes is. What if I fail the next test? Will my baby be huge? Help!!...
Avatar m tn ve had both tests and your sugar is still high? The normal range is below 7.8 and it is gestational diabetes over 11. At least your number isn't over 11. I also think you were tested early. That's normally a second trimester thing at around 24 weeks. So, I wonder if you have a medical history that triggered them to test you early such as being overweight? I think they will likely recommend you watch what you eat and limit sugar. And they will want you to exercise. https://health.
Avatar f tn Anyone know much about Glucose numbers? I had a test and they said number came back high and want me to retest. I asked what number was and they said 113. I asked them even after eating and that is high . .nurse said yes and come retest. All research I find says 113 is within normal to low range for after eating . . . anyone know anything on this?
1209036 tn?1299178657 t like soda and it was way too sweet for me, but I woThe oral glucose tolerance test is used to screen for gestational diabetes. Gestational diabetes is a type of diabetes that can develop in some women late in pregnancy (usually after the 24th week). Women who develop gestational diabetes do not have diabetes before becoming pregnant. The oral glucose tolerance test involves quickly drinking a sweetened liquid (called Glucola), which contains 50 g of glucose.
Avatar f tn Yupp, I just had mine done, yesterday
10754687 tn?1412548611 Is a gestational diabetes glucose test necessary in pregnancy?
Avatar f tn Wow 85% I had no idea that many failed. Oh well that makes me feel better. And shasta thanks for making me feel better today to. Jeeze I worry to much.
Avatar n tn I had my glucose test around 28 weeks, so you might not be far enough into your pregnancy. And as the previous poster said, it is to establish if you have gestational diabetes.
Avatar f tn You could have gestational diabetes which if goes untreated could be extremely detrimental to your baby. It's extremely important to know.
Avatar f tn Has anyone ever refused a glucose test? I have normal pregnancy and no risk factors for diabetes. All of this is out of pocket cost and honestly I'm a person who prefers little interventions and honestly I feel this is a waste of time if I have no indicators.
Avatar f tn Hi all, Just wanted to let you know that i went for the Glucose test today and the results are really high - they are way above the normal range and so i guess i have Gestational Diabetes. I am praying hard that i am able to control it by diet and exercise alone. I am 27 weeks 4 days today.
Avatar f tn Failing the 1 hour glucose does NOT mean you have gestational diabetes. The 3 hr glucose is a better determining factor. I have failed the 1 hour glucose in FOUR of my pregnancies but my 3 hr has always come back normal. With my last 3 hr it came back borderline high but still not diabetes, I was just told to watch my diet and sugar intake. Good luck and don't fret, wait until you get the results from the 3 hr.
9440890 tn?1415878121 Well I did better on the 3 hour glucose screen today but not perfect. I don't have full gestational diabetes but am glucose intolerant. So I'll have to incorporate some mild daily exercise and have some diet modification so I don't develop diabetes. Realistically it is what I should be doing anyway as I started this pregnancy over weight. Definitely want to do what's best for me and my sweet baby girl!
Avatar f tn I am 29 weeks and just got the call that I failed my glucose test. This is my third pregnancy, and my first time having to deal with this because I failed the test. I passed with both my boys, so I was confident I would tgis time too I have also been measuring one to two weeks larger, which now has me curious if the two are connected. I suppose my question is, have you ever failed the second three hour test? (So not looking forward to taking it) If so, what was next?
Avatar f tn Gestational diabetes test, I have mine today too
Avatar f tn My score was 129 and the nurse partictionar said that as long as its 129 or below I'm fine. I think I do have it though after my u/s the lady who saw my baby said she weighed ,6 pounds at 34+5 weeks then her heartbeat was 175 and she kept asking if I was positive I didn't have it. Nobody has ever had gestational diabetes in my family but I'm convinced I might and the test could be wrong.
1891853 tn?1344648442 If i fail, does that mean i have gestational diabetes? Or did the test just not work right? i did the 2 hour test yesterday and have to wait til my doc appointment next week to find out. I heard some people have failed it and had to do the,3 hr one. So what does "fail" mean exactly?
Avatar m tn Yeah I had gestational diabetes. Ur in normal range.
