Common Questions and Answers about Glucose test and exercise

glucose

Avatar n tn Let me try and answer your questions about exercise and diabetes. I am not aware of any connection between the onset of diabetes and over-exertion. Exercise helps people with diabetes keep their blood sugar in good control and within a normal range. Glucose is used while exercising, which would lower the blood sugar level, not raise it. If you are predisposed to developing type 1 diabetes, no amount of exercise will change this.
Avatar n tn My most recent glucose tests were A1C 6.1 and blood glucose 102. I exercise for at least an hour five days a week and have lost about 35 pounds, however, I am still overweight. I hope the above information is helpful.
Avatar n tn Hii ladies so Im 26 weeks and I had my glucose test today..
Avatar f tn you need to ask your doctor to test HA1c. THis test gives average glucose levels over a 3 month period and is a very indication of your blood sugar levels and status. Thyroid being off can affect your glucose. However as Zoela said take this as a timely warning about there being a potential problem and use it.
Avatar f tn So I have my glucose test my next appt and I picked the lemon flavor it tastes like flat watery sprite! Its so gross!! (I was able to sample flavors). Nurse says I cannot eat after 10pm the night before and to only drink water and munch on ice. Im scared I will fail but I pray every day I dont.. If I dont pass what does that exactly mean for me and baby?
1577200 tn?1331725719 i did not pass my 1 hour Glucose test, came out 156 . did anyone got this first and still pass the 3 hours test?
Avatar n tn Hello ladies, so im 29 weeks and 4 days and my glucose test came out high.. What are the things I should worry about??
Avatar n tn Thank you so much for responding so quickly, since I have no idea what I'm talking about concerning diabetes, I really didn't know what information to give you but here are some answers to some of the questions you asked: OGTT Based upon 75g of glucose my results normal range (from my lab) Fasting 106 70-94 1 hour 210 70-179 2 hour 230 70-154 3 hour 167 65-139 I do
Avatar m tn It's good to see that you are trying to manage your glucose levels b4 they get out of control. An OGTT requires you to be sedentary 2 hours post test. Being active 1 hour post defeated your "homemade" test. See this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glucose_tolerance_test Q: "What can be the normal glucose level after 3-4 hours lunch or dinner time" A: Glucose peaks 2-3 hours after meals where the normal value is <180 mg/dl and the optimum is <140 mg/dl.
Avatar n tn Until you can grasp which foods your body can tolerate it is extremely important to test your glucose preprandial [before a meal] and postprandial [2-3 hours after a meal]. The latter will inform you how the foods you ate 2-3 hrs earlier affect your glucose levels.
Avatar n tn I think you should be meeting a physician and get yourself evaluated for Glucose intolerance and hypertension check. Keep me informed if you have any queries. Bye.
Avatar f tn Who has taken the glucose diabetes test? How did it go? I'm kinda nervous what if I do come out positive for it . Did your pregnancy still continue normal and did ur baby have any complications ?
Avatar f tn So I got a call this morning saying my one hour glucose levels were elevated and I have to do a three hour test... This is my fourth and I have never had to do the three hour test before. I am really disappointed because for the last 2.5 years I have been eating whole foods, limiting sugar, and exercising a lot. This really came out of nowhere. I am hoping to pass the 3 hour test.
Avatar f tn I go Monday for test.. yeah diet and exercise ..I hv a high risk for it because family history.gd luck dont stress ...
Avatar n tn The effect of the carbs is immediate and the rate of increased glucose availability matches the rate at which exercise burns it off. Eating a slower carb or protean only results in a delayed high and no benefit during exercise. Reducing insulin before exercise creates the risk of an unexpected rise in BG, which you definitely do not want.
Avatar n tn I lie down and rest for a while and take some gateroade and wiat until I feel normal again and then am allowed to leave. Even throughout the day lastely though, I have become increasingly hungry. I feel I am eating the most ever (they check my weight periodically and I guess I lost 3-4 pounds in a month). I threw up one day when I felt particularly bad. My hand will soemtimes shake throughout the day, but its only my right hand not my left.
9232406 tn?1406122419 / so I have to go back on Wednesday to take a 3hr glucose test. Has that happened to anyone and ended up passing the 3hr glucose test..?!
Avatar f tn I failed the two hour test but passed the others. My midwife said I don't have GD but they consider me glucose intolerant. Depends on the doc for what they diagnose when it's in the middle line that. No high risk appointments or anything for me- just some minor diet changes (more protein and veggies- less carbs) and add in some mild exercise.
Avatar n tn I just had my done and i fail again. This is my second pregnancy and my doctor was a totally *** giving me the results. Im 28 weeks pregnant now time to change my diet .
Avatar n tn Also, exercise takes some glucose out of the body to use for energy during and after exercise which also lowers blood sugars. So instead of suspending, you may want to use a temp basal. Many times the sugar goes up right after exercise due to the glucose being released from the muscles. One might need a temp basal after exercise also. The only way to know is trial and error as each person is different.
Avatar n tn normal weight, moderate exercise, and proper nutrition.
Avatar n tn I am so confused about this diabetes issue. I've been diagnosed 2 weeks ago; instructed to change diet and exercise; return to dr. in 3 months for BG test. She's hoping the diet/exercise will take levels down to normal. I don't understand why I'm not monitoring my sugar levels on daily basis? Also, to eat 3 meals a day 30-35 c arbs per meal; 2 snacks day; 15 grams or less of fat (chol. levels are high); I feel overwhelmed and confused with all these changes.
