glucose

Avatar f tn I did the one-hour glucose test earlier this week, am 28 weeks pregnant now, and I vomited all the stuff. I tried a different flavour and vomited that too. They went ahead and drew my blood anyway, but the result was 141. So they want me to try to drink it again tomorrow to see if I can get a more accurate reading. Has anyone tried an alternative?
Avatar f tn I have a glucose test later at 4:30 & I'm kinda scared of the drink. Lol, I have to drink it all in 5 minutes but I think if I do that I will throw up! Any tips for that? Also I choose the lemon lime flavor & was just told that it was the worst /: there's also orange & fruit punch. Should I switch it?

Avatar n tn Are you aware Pred Forte's main ingredient is prednisolone, which is a corticosteroid [not be confused with Anabolic steroids], and it may/does raise glucose levels? Did you discuss the length of usage with the eye surgeon and also inform him/her you are diabetic? Depending on length your elevated morning glucose may be short lived. You might consider discussing with your Pharmacist an alternative eye drop that doesn't affect your glucose levels, then call your physician.
Avatar n tn okay here's the verdict: i'v got full blown diabetes. I had another seizure (again in my sleep) and got taken to A and E. my blood glucose was down to 1.6, so i guess it's not surprising i had a seizure. I've just spent the day in hospital, and got to come home this evening when i was up to a healthy 7. I have no idea how to live with diabetes.
Avatar n tn It would help if you have this evaluated further or have additional laboratory tests done such as glucose tolerance test. You may also want to consider complementary and alternative medicine such as biofeedback therapy or other relaxation techniques as well. Take care and best regards.

Avatar n tn s much better than the alternative of spending the day in the ER, or worse. Another alternative that is becoming more available is a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM). It is a monitor that has sensors which go under the skin and test blood sugars every 5 minutes. It gives alarm warmings when the person goes high and especially when the person is going low.

Avatar f tn Has anyone else failed their glucose test? I have PCOS and I failed the first test and they told me I didnt have to take the 3 hour test since I'm already taking metformin. They just diagnosed me with gestational diabetes. Has anyone else had this problem?
Avatar n tn In Jan 2000 I was diagnosed with type two diabetes. My A1C was 9.1 and fasting glucose was 375. I was sedantary, very over weight and had very poor dietary habits. My diabetes doctor told me that there were three factors that I needed to consider in controlling my glucose levels. 1. Intake--food and fluids 2. Exercise 3. Medicines--oral or injected as the situation warrants I have been on oral medications for over 8 years.
Avatar m tn 00 P.M., 4 hours after I ate a light dinner. I took 12 units of lantus as usual around 10:00 P.M. and woke up at 4:00 A.M. feeling "crappy", checked my glucose and it had jumped up to 410. This has been a normal occurance since I started Lyrica. I do not want to increase my Novalog dosages as I have had a history of nocturnal-HYPOglycemia. I don't know if the Lyrica is exciting my liver into somehow releasing glucagon or if it is rendering my insulin ineffective.
Avatar f tn Because if your glucose is too on the screening test you will need to take the full glucose tolerance test (diagnostic test). Which is a pain. I failed my 1 hour test (1 point too high) so had to do the full three hour test. For this you do have to fast for at least 8-10 hours before the test. You have to drink twice as much sugar water (100 gm). And you have to wait there while they take multiple blood samples in that ttime.
Avatar f tn So I have my glucose test in the morning. I'm sure I was told I'm not allowed to eat or drink anything from now until the test in the morning, does anyone know if this includes water?
Avatar f tn My doctors and the people at the glucose office only recommended me to drink water before the glucose test and I passed.
