Avatar f tn 2 because this is the range with the least complications. Under 6.5 most likely means your having to many lows, and 8.0 is a little high but you'll work it out.

Avatar m tn Hi. So, the exact number for everyone as to fasting glucose level and what they'd see after 3 hours after eating is unique. There is a 'range' of normal. Normal for fasting glucose level range is around 72 to 99 and up to 140 two hours after eating. https://www.medicinenet.com/normal_blood_sugar_levels_in_adults_with_diabetes/article.htm You sound within normal to me. Have you been concerned for any reason? Did you recently get this lab work done? Tell us more!
Avatar f tn Just wanted to ask all mums with gestational diabetes, when you check your glucose levels with a monitor how long after a meal are you required to do so? What's the maximum mmol you should be or aim for? Just curious, coz here in the UK they expect us to achieve a job max of 7.5mmol an HOUR after a meal! It's very difficult....
Avatar n tn I posted on here last week regarding my 1-hr GTT. I failed the 139 limit w/ a reading of 141. I took my 3-hr GTT last Tuesday and my readings were: Fasting 101 Needed to be <95 1 Hour 177 Needed to be <180 2 Hour 141 Needed to be <155 3 Hour 102 Needed to be <140 Once again the nurse practitioner told me that because my fasting glucose reading was high, that I am automatically diagnosed with gestational diabetes. She told me that my body can't handle the glucose.
Avatar n tn t help distinguish between type 1 and type 2 diabetes. But a fasting blood glucose of 126 mg/dL (7.
Avatar n tn This past September her fasting glucose was in the 130-140 mg/dl range. She is now below 95 mg/dl fasting and 145 mg/dl postprandial. Everyone caught their diabetes early and were able to reverse it. I don't feel this obtainable with those who have type ii's for years then hope to reverse it, nor even those who are first diagnosed but have skyrocketing fasting glucose high levels say in the 300-400 mg/dl.
Avatar n tn Exercise helps people with diabetes keep their blood sugar in good control and within a normal range. Glucose is used while exercising, which would lower the blood sugar level, not raise it. If you are predisposed to developing type 1 diabetes, no amount of exercise will change this. On the other hand, type 2 diabetes is linked with obesity, and exercise would definitely help with the prevention of that type.
438478 tn?1204582889 80) All my other numbers are in range. After my doc visit the other day, I started a blood pressure pill with a diuretic, Maxide....and Arthrotec for arthritis pain. This lab work was taken prior to those meds. Can you guide me and also tell me where the red flags are and why? Thank you.
Avatar f tn My glucose level was 103 in February 2011 without fasting which was within the range of 85-120. May 30 2011 I ended up in the ER due to a gallbladder attack. My glucose level was 115 which was high since the range used was 65-99. A week later the surgeon repeated the tests to prepare me for surgery. The glucose level was 86 which was normal since the range used was 65-99. Three days ago my blood was drawn an hour or less after eating.
Avatar n tn I am 30 weeks pregnant and was told last week that i have gestational diabetes. i have been doing as i am told, and my blood sugars have been in the range they would like. however, as a first time mom-to-be, i am very nervous. i had two miscarriages and had trouble at the start of this pregnancy. i guess i am looking for reassurance that my daughter will be fine. i am concerned about her being large and also getting juvenile diabetes. are there any other concerns for her?
Avatar m tn Hi Sally, my fasting glucose readings have bounced around in the pre-diabetic range for the past several years, with the highest being 126, I think. I've had several A1c tests, with results ranging from 5.5 to 5.9. My doctors (both primary and endocrinologist) have said these results are okay and don't require treatment of any kind. I've tried controlling glucose levels with diet and exercise - sometimes it works, sometimes not.
Avatar n tn Then levels go back to normal range without any apparent change in diet or exercise. Whenever the doc orders fasting tests i am in the normal range. I have done the glucose tolerance test twice, the first test made me crash too low after 2-3 hours "63". The second time was normal . Original diagnosis of pre diabetes was made because I had several episodes of getting too low after running . The recent high glcose readings i had were the first I have ever had that were too high.
Avatar f tn Hi Adelaide, There are many people on here who are very knowledgeable and make say more to help you. I will just give you my 2 cents. You absolutely did the right thing by going to a 2nd doc. I do not have diabetes, however I'm an RN. It is vitally important that you get a correct diagnoses. As you must know Diabetes is nothing to fool around with. Glucose monitors are not your most reliable source, especially if you don't do the required quality controls.
Avatar m tn The clinic who handled my labs had the nurse call and tell me nothing is wrong with my thyroid..or diabetes...i am in a nightmare.
Avatar n tn Then I got pregnant this march and had my A1C tested at about 10 weeks. It was a 5.2 with an average blood glucose of 103. Did not have fasting at this point. My doctor said this is normal..Im now 23 weeks and the other day went in for routine appt and my urine tested high for glucose..They did not seem concerned and just scheduled me for the routine glucose testing at 26 weeks.
Tbd Well its not normal its high. Talk to your MD about it.
Avatar n tn Basically it is saying for each day over the past 2-3 months your glucose averaged 111 mg/dl. The lab has high range of 6.07% which equates to 128 mg/dl, diabetes. Why so high? Only the lab can answer this. To answer your second question, yes you need to be concerned. Unless you're willing to make lifestyle changes diabetes awaits you around the corner and that corner is very close. I have written about lifestyle changes - food choices, exercise, weight, lipid panel - in numerous posts.
Avatar n tn The test you need to ask to have done on you is a glucose tolerance test. This test starts out with a simple blood test to determine your resting glucose levels. Then, you drink a sweet syrupy drink and blood is drawn at different times after this to see what happens to your glucose levels. If you have an episode of reactive hypoglycemia during this test, it will show up.
Avatar m tn I AM NOT SURE IF THIS IS THE RIGHT FORUM FOR THIS BUT I AM PARANOID ABOUT HAVING DIABETES. I HAVE HAD 2 FASTING GLUCOSE TESTS DURING THE LAST 2 MONTHS. THE RESULTS WERE 92 ON THE FIRST AND 88 ON THE SECOND TEST. MY FAMILY DOCTOR SAYS NOT TO WORRY, THAT I AM NOT DIABETIC. BUT!!! I HAVE CONVINCED MYSELF THAT I HAVE ALL THESE SYMPTOMS; INTERMITTENT FREQUENT URINATION, DRY MOUTH AND THIRSTINESS, PAIN (PINS AND NEEDLES) IN MY LEGS AND FEET. ALL THESE COME AND GO.
Avatar f tn My obgyn office says I have gestational diabetes, even though my blood sugars (tested for a week because I refused the glucose test) are within range of non-diabetic pregnant women according to the American Diabetes Association. I don't shoot up and down either, my sugars are fairly steady. Has this happened to anyone else and what did you do?
