Avatar f tn If repeated testing is required, buying the test strips in bulk may be beneficial. Some stores may offer strips at a reduced rate. You could discuss with a pharmacist as to what would be the most suitable option. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar m tn I did something really dumb today and now I'm scared. I was unclogging a toilet when some of the water splashed my hands. I have open wounds on my hands. When I looked down into the toilet I saw some used blood glucose test strips. I didn't see any blood. I immediately washed my hands with plenty of soap. About 1-3 minutes later I washed my hands again 3 times. About 10 minutes after that I washed my hands twice more and disinfected them with alcohol.
866901 tn?1505506236 In googling "blood glucose test strips", I found several websites which offered test strips and glucometers at varying prices (ie.http://www.diabetesnet.com/test_strips.php). Since your cat is going to need lifelong care, it will pay for you to shop around.
Avatar f tn i currently use one touch monitor and strips. The strips come in packs of 25. Script is for 50 a month. Barely enough to test for one month- 2x a day. I am paying 18.00 for 50 even with good insurance. Any way to bring this down? Any other meters and strips that are less expensive?
Avatar n tn Thanks to both of you. As far as I know, the meter is OK and the test strips are well within expiration. The doctor is very, very hesitant to write a prescription for test strips, so I buy them. It's absurb because with my insurance I could test four times a day free. As it is now, I really hoard the test strips. Yes, I try to watch the carbs and sugars, though I fell off the wagon during the Christmas days and that's probably why I'm showing the higher numbers.
Avatar n tn It would help to know the make/model of your glucose meter. This way we could search the availability and low cost pricing of these unknown test strips. You can start by writing to the mfg to see if they offer free or reduced cost supplies. You also can search for and inquire at free clinics in your area. Use Google search for free clinics XXX, ZZ, where XXX is your city and ZZ the state. Another source which provides links to "free" diabetic supplies is http://tinyurl.
Avatar n tn is this necessary? do i need the glucose test if my blood sugar test came back just fine??? thanks for the help !
Avatar f tn He said I could have breakfast like two eggs and so i did maybe that made my test high.....Now I have to make an appt. for the 3hour glucose test.....I hope I don't have gestational diabetes that scares me....I have never had that with my other pregnancies....I'm scared! What happenes when you do have diabetes? Does it go away after birth? What should I do before taking this other test? Can someone advise? Thanks!
866901 tn?1505506236 Just two days ago I bought a ReliOn Micro glucose meter at Walmart for $12.00. A box of ReliOn Micro test strips (50) only cost $21.94. I don't know if this will help. I haven't learned how to use it yet. It's a very small meter and needs no coding. My Vet didn't mention buying a meter, but I went ahead any way. So far I have taken her in once for a glucose test and will be taking her again the end of the week.
Tbd The start up kit also came with a discount card than lowered the test strips to about $15 per 50 test strips. I only test once a day in the morning unless I have any issues, so the test strips last a little longer than one that needs to test 3+ times per day.
Avatar n tn No Rx required for test strips. Try wherever you purchased the glucose test meter, or online at Amazon or web sites like americandiabeteswholesale.
Avatar f tn Second, does your home meter require calibration to test strips? Do the test strips have an expiration date? Can you see a doctor and get tested properly? Ask for an A1c which will average your past 2-3 months glucose levels. The results are presented in percentile [%] which when converted to eAG [estimated Average Glucose] tells you what your daily glucose was. This will tell you your status - normal, prediabetes, or diabetic.
Avatar f tn I've recently been diagnosed with Type II Diabetes and started testing my blood glucose at home with the One Touch Ultra 2 monitor. The test strips that I've been given are pre-coded, so I do not have to do anything to my monitor prior to testing, other than insert the strip.
Avatar n tn The test strips that I use are 10LG Parameter Urine Reagent Strips which can be bought on line at a reasonable price. These strips detect Leukocytes, Nitrite, Urobilinogen, Protein, pH, Blood, Specific Gravity, Ketone, Bilirubin, Glucose. You can get strips that detect less. The one that would be of interest if someone is suffering from dehydration is the Specific Gravity reading.
Avatar n tn This requires a smaller amount of blood, is lighter, has a canister of strips (not a drum), and is faster. The strips are pretty different from the Ultra and will take some getting used to.
Avatar f tn the drink they had at my office has gluten in it.. So I have to pick up a glucometer, needles, and test strips to test my sugar four times a day for a week. The drink won't be so bad. If you're that worried about the taste, there is the alternative.
1305767 tn?1361192676 Before stating whether you are in danger of diabetes, or you are normal it would be nice to know the make/model and age of your meter. Age of the test strips, if you are within the expiration date of the test strips, and whether the meter requires calibration prior to use. Knowing the aforementioned helps to determine if your test results qualify or not.
Avatar f tn If a person with HIV accidentally gets his/her blood on the meter or the test strips (supplies) is it possible to catch HIV this way when putting your blood in contact with the test strips (supplies)? Hope this makes sense but I just would like assurance. Thank you!
514349 tn?1272801633 I did learn recently that ya, we do not need to fast anymore for blood work. New world with that bit of intel when it comes to getting lab work for me! Non fasting blood glucose levels are considered normal if under 125. And your fasting is just ever so slightly elevated. Your A1c is also just barely over. Personally, you don't need a diagnosis at this point. You've got the info you need to work on it.
Avatar f tn Use your home meter to test your glucose levels. If you're having memory issues start a log - date/time/dose - so you have something to reference in the future.
503651 tn?1223174601 takes 6-8 weeks for USPS to deliver unit. Mine came with 10 each test strips and lancets and a test fluid bottle. Calibrate to strip number prior to using.
Avatar n tn In the US, the doctor may ordered a clean urine catch to coincide with a fasting blood draw or an OGTT [Oral Glucose Tolerance Test]. If you are concerned about diabetes ask for an A1c test [Hb1c, HbA1c] which is used as the standard tool to determine glucose [blood sugar] control.
