1399363 tn?1462342610 Histamine occurs naturally in certain foods and an enzyme called diamine oxidase, which is present in our body breaks down the histamine which we absorb from food. Deficiency of this enzyme can cause histamine intolerance. Among the naturally occurring fruits and vegetables some can be rich in histamines and some promote the release of histamine from mast cells. So, with consumption of food the reactions can vary.
Avatar n tn While doing research on Vitamin C, I came across some interesting info on oxidation and diabetes. Research shows that free radicals and oxidative stress play a major role in both the initial cause of diabetes and development of long-term complications. In view of this, development of effective anti-oxidant therapy must be a major opportunity. But not much seems to be happening on this front. And my question is, why? Studies show that diabetics have low levels of Vitamin C.
Avatar f tn I would recommend that you resume checking your blood glucose. Keep a log of your blood sugar and your diet. If you notice your sugar spiking and your symptoms returning with certain foods then you have your answer. If you resume controlling your diet and feel better, then you also have an answer. Gestational diabetes does usually resolve after the birth of the baby, however, this is not usually immediate. The symptoms can persist for a period of time. Good luck.
Avatar m tn It is very likely from oxidation, a normal chemical reaction. Bleach will not prevent oxidation. I would not be concerned about it, but you might want to rinse your handkerchiefs soon after "using" them.
Avatar m tn Aggressive lipid management and a good diet and exercise regimens have the potential to regress coronary and peripheral atherosclerosis. We have shown in prospective trials coronary atheroma size/volume reduction with rosuvastatin. But it's probably the absolute LDL level (70 or less), rather than a specific statin therapy that leads to these chagnes. No company will ever sponsor a diet and exercise regimen trial, but I would argue that those two are probably as important.
471949 tn?1236904026 Concomitant use of agents with serotonergic activity such as serotonin reuptake inhibitors, monoamine oxidase inhibitors, tricyclic antidepressants, 5-HT1 receptor agonists, ergot alkaloids, lithium, St. John's wort, phenylpiperidine opioids, dextromethorphan, and 5-hydroxytryptophan may potentiate the risk of serotonin syndrome, which is a rare but serious and potentially fatal condition thought to result from hyperstimulation of brainstem 5-HT1A and 2A receptors.
Avatar n tn I am a 57 year old woman with Type II diabetes. I've also been diagnosed with HepC several years ago and was non-responsive to the Interferon/Riboviron regimen. The treatment made me very ill and I experienced very debilitating depression. Since that treatment, I've noticed how my forearms bruise and cut easily. I don't heal like I used to. I started juicing almost a year ago, avoid GMO foods, I eat more fish, lots of vegetables and drink lots of water.
Avatar f tn Did anybody else have to get the three hour glucose test done? If so did your doctor also tell you not to eat anything for 12 hours? Just wondering, can they legally make you get the three hour test done? Cause they said I was only a little bit either high or low, I can't remember but I know it wasn't that bad. So I'm wondering what would happen if I just didn't get it done.
Avatar m tn 7, 2012) — A study published in the online journal Hepatology reports a potential new NADPH oxidase (NOX) inhibitor therapy for liver fibrosis, a scarring process associated with chronic liver disease that can lead to loss of liver function. "While numerous studies have now demonstrated that advanced liver fibrosis in patients and in experimental rodent models is reversible, there is currently no effective therapy for patients," said principal investigator David A.
Avatar m tn advice about polyunsaturated oils. Polyunsaturated fats (or PUFAs) are highly inflammatory and highly prone to oxidation. Inflammation and oxidation is a nice recipe for heart disease.
Avatar n tn If you want a powder, try something like Emergen-C, a high dose powder with each dose enclosed in a separate packet protecting it from oxidation. Vitamin C begins to oxidize instantly on contact with the air, another reason not to dissolve a tablet in water first. Another option is to take it in capsule form, avoiding the fillers and binders. Magnesium, on the other hand, can help with constipation.
Avatar n tn Pharmacologic dosages of chromium (200 mcg/day or more for adults) may potentiate the hypoglycemic effect of insulin and oral antidiabetic agents. Chromium appears to play a role in normal insulin function and glucose utilization, and some investigators have suggested that it increases insulin sensitivity and glucose tolerance and decreases blood glucose levels in certain diabetics, possibly those with low chromium levels.
Avatar f tn I took a fasting Glucose test that came up at 100 so now they say I might be pre-diabetic. But one poster here mentioned something about Thyroid and to tell your doctor if you have a thyroid condition. Well last year I was diagnosed with Hypo-thyrodism which means my thyroid doesn't produce enough of the Thyroid hormone. And I also know that when I had the Glucose test my thyroid levels may have been off because my doctor just adjusted my medication.
Avatar m tn in particular i don t know the link of cellular cholesterol level and oxidation of ldl, is the inhibition of the progression of oxidation of LDL the same as having lower cellular cholesterol level?
Avatar m tn But it does a lot more than spice up your food. Capsaicin has heart-health benefits. Oxidation of cholesterol is a major cause of clogged arteries. Capsaicin helps your body keep this oxidation under control.(1) It supports healthy levels of cholesterol and fats in your blood, too.(2) But capsaicin may also support the survival of your heart’s muscle cells. And it works when those cells are under the worst stress – after a major cardiac event.

Avatar m tn I believe that the benefits pf statins outweigh the risks and have altered my eating lifestyle so to nearly exclude carbohydrates. This has enabled me to continue statin regime while keeping my fasting blood glucose levels at acceptaptable unmedicated levels. My wife on the other hand continues to take Metformin while on the statin drug.
Avatar m tn During the sample I voided 1/4 ounce maybe less in toilet then all in the sample. Are these tests accurate? It was also noted that a high glucose in urine dip and now wbcs?
Avatar m tn I AM NOT SURE IF THIS IS THE RIGHT FORUM FOR THIS BUT I AM PARANOID ABOUT HAVING DIABETES. I HAVE HAD 2 FASTING GLUCOSE TESTS DURING THE LAST 2 MONTHS. THE RESULTS WERE 92 ON THE FIRST AND 88 ON THE SECOND TEST. MY FAMILY DOCTOR SAYS NOT TO WORRY, THAT I AM NOT DIABETIC. BUT!!! I HAVE CONVINCED MYSELF THAT I HAVE ALL THESE SYMPTOMS; INTERMITTENT FREQUENT URINATION, DRY MOUTH AND THIRSTINESS, PAIN (PINS AND NEEDLES) IN MY LEGS AND FEET. ALL THESE COME AND GO.
Avatar m tn Unprotected oral second void, maybe 1/2 ounce wasted then in the cup NAAT,, male is this an accurate test? Potential prostate swollen and frequent urination?
Avatar f tn Well, there are a number of factors that could trigger changes in blood glucose levels including stress, infections, inflammations, hormonal changes, food intake, exercise, lifestyle etc. Lower than normal blood glucose could trigger increased levels of glucose as well. If the levels tend to vary widely, this would require close monitoring and slight re-alteration in the lifestyle and insulin.
