Avatar n tn Remove any citrus juices and have her eat some saltine crackers. Push the water too. It could be a very mild case of food poisening or indegestion. Could give her a little Pepto-Bismol if her diarrhea continues. If you are suffering from all this heat...be sure she is well hydrated too! Don't leave any food out for too long...this heat will cause spoilage...fast. If she isn't feeling better by morning, or she starts vomiting alot, take her to an urgent care.

Could I mix some chicken broth in with it to make it more appetizing? I tried warm water mixed in with it this morning , but she did not eat much. My Vet wants her to be strictly on canned DM. Avatar m tn Hi there, Stress can really upset digestion, I would suggest getting some digestive enzymes from a health store to help with food digestion when you feel very stressed. It's best not to eat when you are stressed, wait until you feel more calm and relaxed otherwise your meal may just sit in your and become very acid, not digest properly, rot and ferment and cause bad smelling gas.

Please list your current thyroid hormone levels, with reference ranges, so we can better assess your situation. Do you have diabetes or have you been tested for it? Some protein powders have a lot of sugars in them and are not suitable if one has impair glucose tolerance.

Next comes exercise. Even taking a walk will help lower your blood glucose. Finally, if you do all of the above and your numbers are still too high than it might be time to talk to your doctor about oral meds, adding to or changing your meds, or starting you on insulin.

To be sure your readins are accurate, follow the same diet for three days (eat the same foods and 'candy' portions) and test the same time each day, usually 2-4 fours after ingestion. Try not to use the same finger, and, as the above posters mentioned, clean your fingers first. I use BD alcohol swabs.

Avatar m tn You may be experincing hypoglycemia. If you take insulin you may be taking too much for the amount of food you are eating. As insulin helps the glucose get to the cells and tissue. If you are not taking insulin your body may be releasing a large amount of insulin in response to a meal high in carbohydrates. You need to find a balance as hypoglycemia can cause you to serious problems. I would talk to your dr.
