1399363 tn?1462342610 Histamine occurs naturally in certain foods and an enzyme called diamine oxidase, which is present in our body breaks down the histamine which we absorb from food. Deficiency of this enzyme can cause histamine intolerance. Among the naturally occurring fruits and vegetables some can be rich in histamines and some promote the release of histamine from mast cells. So, with consumption of food the reactions can vary.
Avatar n tn Foods. Google 'diabetes nutrition' for suggestions. Google 'healthy heart foods' for more. Medication. We are not privy to your mother's medical records, her glucose levels, nor have you mentioned if she is a type 1, type 1.5 or type 2 diabetic. You should be talking with her doctor about medication. Go here for drug interactions http://www.drugs.com/drug_interactions.html And, avoid fad diets.
Avatar n tn From what I read, the original HCG treatment consisted of daily shots of that hormone plus an extreme diet of 500 calories, and there was no medical evidence that it worked. It got popular (as fad diets do) and now they sell homeopathic (oral) versions of the hcg that have unknown ingredients and doses. Fad diets don't work and are dangerous for diabetics. I know it is hard to lose weight at your mother's age.
1396846 tn?1332459510 You mean you haven't heard that the latest fashion fad is to have an IV in your arm? :) Glad to hear you are feeling a little better!
929728 tn?1256162688 Yep,,there is no such thing as "spot reduction" when it comes to weight loss. Just like Dr.Vinod said, you lose the fat you put on last,,,first. So if your body just stored fat on your arms, you're going to notice a difference on your arms first. Resist the temptation to go with a fad diet. Lifestyle change is the way to go. Just as you didn't put on weight quickly, it won't come off quickly but it will come off. Go slowly.
Avatar f tn I had fasting labs done a few months ago because of hypothyroid. My blood glucose at that time was 102mg/dl. Is that high enough for a diagnosis of diabetes? I already have another appointment for fasting labs next month. I thought I would get a jump start on changing my eating habits but I can't figure out what I can eat. Everytime I try to follow one of the diets in a magazine or on a website I end up with headaches that last for days.
Avatar f tn Krystina...usually the fad diets are just that ..a fad that doesn't work because to really lose weight and keep it off , you need to eat healthy foods ALL the time. Not eating breakfast is a terrible idea...your body needs nutrition after sleeping all night. Even if you only have time for a protein shake or piece of fruit in the morning, that's better way to start your day. Eat more veggies/salad. Portion contra is key! If I could advise one other important thing it would be...
Avatar m tn Kindly educate your child as an elder and get him from indulging in such mindless and dangerous sport, fad or no fad. Wishing you all the best in your Endeavour.
Business woman2 Any fad diet as the same outcome especially if they involve shakes three times a day etc once you go back to eating the weight just piles back on.
1139187 tn?1355706647 The connection between FAD and MTHFR is that the MTHFR enzyme must have an ample supply of FAD in order to function. If FAD levels are low due to low levels of thyroxine, then the MTHFR enzyme slows down, causing low methylfolate levels. We now know from above that low methylfolate leads to low neurotransmitters and low SAMe. Question: What can hypothyroid patients do, i.e. nutrition and lifestyle changes, to cope with MTHFR inhibition? Dr.
Avatar m tn People already on MOA oxidase inhibitors, with narrow angle glaucoma, cardiac, liver and kidney disorders should not take Savella. If these symptoms are bothering you a lot seek medical help. Get your blood pressure checked. If your blood pressure is normal these effects may dissipate with time. Talk with your doctor before stopping Savella and do not stop suddenly; this can cause withdrawal symptoms .Discuss your concerns with your doctor. Take care!

Avatar f tn Hi, Some cases of early-onset AD, called familial AD (FAD), are inherited. FAD is caused by a number of different gene mutations on chromosomes 21, 14, and 1, and each of these mutations causes abnormal proteins to be formed. Even if only one of these mutated genes is inherited from a parent, the person will almost always develop early-onset AD. This inheritance pattern is referred to as “autosomal dominant” inheritance.

Avatar f tn There are a ton of books out there for this, as it's quite a fad these days even for people who don't have Celiac, so I'd look into that. But cooking gluten free isn't any different from cooking with gluten unless you're making bread or cookies -- most foods don't contain gluten so you're already eating mostly gluten free unless all you eat is bread and pasta.
Avatar m tn Did you ask him why he was shaking his hands? If so, what did he say? You say he'd never done that before. Perhaps he was just incredibly excited? Has he been doing it SINCE the basketball game? If so, again, did you ask him about it? At 8 years of age, he should be able to give you an intelligent answer. Maybe it's just some new "fad" at school? But if he has no answer or seems upset to talk about it, I would definitely take him to his pediatrician for a check up.

5586759 tn?1370435272 My dog is 13 years old, and it became very clear in her puppy age that she had FAD. In a trip taken last year October, 2012 she became infested with fleas. As soon as we got home we went through the gauntlet of treating her skin and flea problems promptly. We have also treated our home several time out of caution. However, since this trip we have still yet to get her skin under control.
