glucose

1291107 tn?1272202031 There are different types of fatty acids, well 4 actually. Fatty acids are long molecules made from Carbon atoms with some Hydrogen atoms and Oxygen at one end. Saturated fats have all the Hydrogen atoms that can possibly attach to the molecule, it is saturated with Hydrogen. So, no matter where is comes from, saturated fatty acids are saturated fatty acids. How can one be better for you when they are the exact same? Unsaturated means some carbon atoms have room for more Hydrogen atoms.
Avatar m tn The T4 in Levo is a molecule of tyrosine (an amino acid - the T) with 4 iodine atoms attached (the 4). When already taking the 200 mcg of Levo, I can't see why you need the iodine supplement. What symptoms do you have? What are your thyroid related test results and reference ranges shown on the lab report?
163305 tn?1333668571 Newswise — Chemists at the University of California, San Diego have produced the first high resolution structure of a molecule that when attached to the genetic material of the hepatitis C virus prevents it from reproducing. Hepatitis C is a chronic infectious disease that affects some 170 million people worldwide and causes chronic liver disease and liver cancer. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, hepatitis C now kills more Americans each year than HIV.
Avatar n tn Higher density tissue takes longer for the hydrogen atoms to realign, so the images of the body are gradually built up, showing all different tissue types. It used to take hours with the first scanners what takes seconds with todays machines. Just some extra info which I thought some might find interesting.
Avatar n tn Atoms are too small for the immune system to see. Your NORMAL thyroid gland is full of iodine. You are allergic to the organic molecule to which the iodine is bound, and this molecule is different for topical iodine skin preps vs shrimp vs IV x-ray dye. You can be allergic to any or all of these things, but allergy to x-ray dye is chemically very different from allergy to topical skin preps containing iodine or shell fish.
Avatar f tn Matter is made up of atoms. Atoms make compounds. Atoms or compounds don’t radiate as they travel so don’t have electromagnetic waves as you stated. Most elements and compounds don’t interact with glass so doesn’t go through it, but if they do, for instance HF acid, it will pour through the glass destroying it. It can’t go through and leave it untouched. HF acid is very very strong so it’s obvious when it comes to contact with anything…. It will eat it away.
Avatar m tn Thank you so much for your input. I guess it is the same finding about Vit C molecule and Glucose molecule and how they both look the same and why cancer cells "think" it's the right fuel for them where in fact it's Vitamin C molecule absorb. I have a little text in my journal about Vit C and Glucose. Take a look if you like. Take care, Hugs, Sunes.
Avatar n tn The other was of the Lumbar region of my back. I too seem to notice some kind of affect. I think it makes my depression worse. Of course it could be psychosomatic I guess. It could also be an adverse affect of the contrast dye. Each time, I drank huge amounts of water before leaving the clinic where I got the Mris. I know that the dye can be hard on the kidneys. Maybe it is hard on the brain also? If you think about how an MRI works, then it is scary to me.
Avatar m tn Fulvic acid has a huge molecular formula, and it is one of the largest classes of dissolved minerals and can be considered a colloid. One of the key qualities of a colloid is its extremely large surface area, which amplifies all its powers. One of the unique qualities of shilajit is that it is a very powerful electron donor. Its ability to combine with other substances and other atoms is very, very high.
Avatar n tn T3 (triiodothyronine), the active hormone, is converted from T4 (thyroxine), the storage hormone, mainly by the liver. The 3 and 4 represent the number of iodine atoms per tyrosine molecule. Not everyone converts T4 to T3, that can be a problem that T4 meds alone will not 'fix'. When you see tests that are just called T3 or T4 that is referring to the total amount of hormone.
Avatar n tn Lactose Polyethylene Glycol Listing just lactose (One Molecule of lactose consists of one molecule each of two other carbohydrates, i.e. galactose and glucose) and Polyethylene Glycol. I will give you this information and let you draw your own conclusions as the safety of the product. The dosage for production must usually be within 5% of the labeled dosage to be considered (for example) a 2mg dose.
972862 tn?1249258238 It differs from other sweeteners such as sorbitol, fructose and glucose because the xylitol molecule has five, instead of six, carbon atoms. Most bacterias in mouth are unable to make use of such sugars. This is one reason why xylitol helps prevent caries. Xylitol is much sweeter than sorbitol, for instance. Assessed in terms of calories, its sweetening power is the same as that of sucrose. It is also similar to sucrose in its technical and nutritive properties.
Avatar f tn New red blood cells live an average of three months. Excess glucose binds to the outer walls of these cells never getting ingested to be used as energy. The A1c will read this. Bottom line, go get a checkup by your PCP.
315737 tn?1407298997 These changes are also thought to be markers for aging. The scientists say that it is the fructose molecule in the sucrose, not the glucose, that plays the larger part.20 Because it is metabolized by the liver, fructose does not cause the pancreas to release insulin the way it normally does. Fructose converts to fat more than any other sugar. This may be one of the reasons Americans continue to get fatter. Fructose raises serum triglycerides significantly.
Avatar n tn If possible, could someone please explain to me the differnt types of insulin, and ways of managing diabeties, and the pros and cons of them.
Avatar f tn Yes, as I understand it, glycated hemoglobin is the attachment of glucose to hemoglobin, a globular protein molecule. It is a measure of blood sugar levels over about three months time and is elevated when blood sugar has been elevated. I'm looking for information on what levels of blood sugar typically result in glycation. I have not seen my blood sugar go over 127, and I'm wondering what level I should be keeping it under in order to lower my Hgba1c.
Avatar m tn As a matter of interest, the patent claims on both medications suggest they have varying degrees of effectiveness on different types of bacteria. That remains to be seen. Basically, when one drug is about to run out of patent a drug company comes up with a similar molecule that gives them another twenty years.
20801560 tn?1512718136 Iron is an essential part of the hemoglobin molecule which carries oxygen in the blood. The two most common types of people prone to iron deficiency are young women and children. For adolescents and teens, iron deficiency can make the skin look dull and for some can enhance the appearance of under eye dark circles, a major beauty and appearance issue with many women.
Avatar m tn The only information I have seen claiming that Hashi's is caused by leaky gut and gluten is all anecdotal. I have not seen a scientific study that confirmed that theory. One of the prime proponent seems to be a chiropractor who claims that the gluten molecule is almost identical to thyroid tissue and that is the reason for the antibodies produced against the gluten also attacking thyroid tissue.
Avatar m tn I agree that Type 2 Diabetes is mostly a lifestyle condition. Eating the wrong types of food, along with too much and inadequate exercise, is also a contributor to Type 2 Diabetes. Simple carbohydrates (sugar, white bread, potatoes, rice, etc) tend to increase glucose levels quickly, causing the pancreas to produce more insulin. Over a period of time, body cells can become less sensitive to the insulin, which means we have to produce more in order to reduce the glucose levels.
Avatar m tn Ferrous ascorbate is anytime better than feredetate because on breaking of the molecule ferrous Ascorbate leave iron and vitamin-c ,both of them are useful to the body.Secondly ferrous ascorbate is adviced after meals so that the pH of stomache is nearly neutral at that time. The charge of iron ion is shielded by ascorbate molecule and is easily transferred through stomache wall.
Avatar n tn Did an US guided FNA on 9/20 and those results show numerous hemosiderin laden macrophages consistent with contents of degenerative hemorragic cyst. No evidence of malignancy, but no thyroid epithelial cells were present for verification. Levels were T3-89, T4-7.4 and TSH 2.27 My question What in the world does all of this mean? I am 43 and have generally been in good health all of my life, I do suffer from depression and have developen some serious PMDD as I have gotten older.
Avatar n tn Hi. Herceptin and Iressa are types of drugs which are called "targeted treatment" since they were designed to disrupt a very specific molecular mechanism responsible for the growth of cancer cells. Both drugs target human epidermal growth factor receptors (EGFRs). These are molecules found on the surface of cancer cells which accept growth stimuli from the cells' outside environment.
Avatar m tn The brain is just a collection of molecules and atoms just like any other object in the universe, living or not. The only thing that makes it special is how those atoms are arranged. Alright enough rambling. I have learned that there is probably no oasis after death, no afterlife. While I cannot be 100% sure that there is no afterlife, for i'm not dead, I can infer that there is not. No one has lived to tell the tale of death.
Avatar f tn smell may be linked to certain types of diabetes...we all know our bodys will produce a sweet smell when our blood sugar is high...what if our blood sugars run low to often...could this be the reason? I also have had on many occautions had this type of garlic smell on my hands without consuming ANY garic products in months! BUT I know I have tendencies to be hypoglycemic...boarderline. I A1c is always just below where it needs to be...
