Here's my 2 cents; For short periods fad diets work for a few people and fail with everyone else. The Glycemic Index [GI] has shown to be the guide for proper eating. I asked a couple of other volunteers about LifeTrac and none had heard of a beta test for a non envasive glucose meter. I also checked the web and other sites and could find nothing. It's possible I have missed something, but as we all know and as you said, we have to be a little cautious when it comes to somethings on the internet. You did'nt say where you saw this, but personally, unless I know it is a reliable source, I try to verify like you did.
I bought a store brand glucose meter and tested on several occasions, to which my highest reading was 210 after meals, and 59 fasting. My maternal grandmother is the only known person in our family to have diabetes (type II). I carry glucose tablets if I feel low, and have eliminated all sugars except for some carbohydrates, in fear of losing weight. My question is, if my condition makes a switch to type II, what can I do to make it better?

Blood sugar peaks 2-4 hours postprandial, not 6 hours. Go to the web site Wave posted in his thread so you don't mistake what is correct. Cheap meters may not produce accurate results every time. If you value your health invest in a good quality meter. Consumer Reports listed Johnson & Johnson LifeScan Ultra meters as the most reliable. Search around, J&J offered free meters last year.

Its time you saw another doctor. For a doctor to discourage glucose testing unless the patient is on insulin is horribly wrong. He/she sounds like a quack. It is important to monitor your blood sugar (glucose) on a regular basis to understand how well you are controlling your diabetes. Your above 300 mg/dl readings are high and getting real close to a dangerous level where diabetes complications start to set in.
A study was just done stating the Johnson & Johnson products contains formaldihide and many cancer causing agents!! Johnson & Johnson actually admitted that their products had cancer causing agents in them... I exchanged all the shampoo and body wash and lotion and diaper rash cream for something else organic..
