Avatar n tn between 70-126 is the number range that many doctors use. But this is for fasting glucose levels only. After meals, it is normal for glucose levels to rise above this, and the numbers quoted as 'normal' vary, depending on which doctor you talk to. I have read that a number of about 140-150 is considered healthy for after-meal sugar levels.
Avatar n tn s good you posted and question your doctors attitude. Normal fasting glucose levels range from 60/70 to 99 mg/dl. As you can see you're three times above the normal range. If you didn't fast properly - meaning you had a small nibble on some food or sipped on colored liquids 8-10 hours prior to testing - your test results will be skewered. You also didn't mention what those "few other symptoms" were. An infection like a cold can skewer results too.
Avatar n tn the normal range is 70-110
Avatar m tn Today I got my Sugar levels tested but Fasting blood sugar is showing 105 where the range is 60 minimum to 110 max. PPBS and Glucose blood sugar GH1BC all are normal. Now i am worried as I am close to 110 in Fasting blood sugar ? how to reduce it further.......I do cardio for 30 minutes everyday with 10kms speed..5 kms per day...still fasting blood sugar is on the higher end but normal non- diabetic ! Please answer my question after reading the above details.
Avatar f tn Clarification is needed; If the glucose test range posted was measured from drawn blood it doesn't appear you posted the correct levels. What country do you reside in? I ask because "the normal range and she said 0.0 - 24 and mine was a 27.8." is weird. Normal fasting levels in the USA is 60/70 - 99 mg/dl and Europe 3.7 - 5.5 mmol/l. If measured from urine please correct and state country of residence.
1461994 tn?1285897132 ve been on Interferon/Ribavarin therapy for 3 weeks now for HCV Genotype 2B. When I started, my glucose was 78 but it jumped to 90 this week. Is this normal? Should I be concerned that I'm going to develop diabetes if I continue with tx for 21 more weeks? My blood sugar has always been in the 70's or 80's, no family history of diabetes, I'm 59, thin and in good physical condition otherwise.
Avatar m tn The only thing you should be concerned about is to try to obtain normal and/or near normal levels. Some can and some cannot, you just have to try your best at all times.
Avatar f tn Lupo, My husband recently had fasting blood work done to check Thyroid and glucose levels. His glucose, A1c, calcium and triglyceride levels all came back high. HDL Cholesterol low and TSH was normal. TSH is 1.42 Calcium 10.4 mg/dL Glucose 120 mg/dL A1c 6.4% of total HgB Triglycerides 184 mg/dL HDL 36 mg/dL He is currently takes levothyroxine 150 mcg for hypothyroidism (TSH was 16.
Avatar n tn I agree with the previous posting... good advice! Occaional "slips" are pretty normal, but what we don't want to see in children or adults is wild swings becoming the norm. The child will feel bad and her body is starving for the energy that comes from properly processed carbs when that happens. If several days of wild swings are happening, then it probably is time to "tighten up" some for a while to try to normalize and to protect her.
Avatar m tn Hi. So, the exact number for everyone as to fasting glucose level and what they'd see after 3 hours after eating is unique. There is a 'range' of normal. Normal for fasting glucose level range is around 72 to 99 and up to 140 two hours after eating. https://www.medicinenet.com/normal_blood_sugar_levels_in_adults_with_diabetes/article.htm You sound within normal to me. Have you been concerned for any reason? Did you recently get this lab work done? Tell us more!
Avatar n tn As a type 1 diabetic for 34 years, I can tell you that different doctors will give different ranges as perfect levels to aim for. Most don't consider you too low until the glucose drops below 70. I personally can feel slightly "off" when glucose is below 75, but don't feel truly bad until it drops below 70, so I would not worry about a glucose of 94 being too low. The range I have been given as "normal" is anything between 70 and 126, which is a pretty broad range.
Avatar m tn He has seen people with A1c levels of 6.5+ with normal glucose tolerance test, but not the other way around. My fructosamine levels are within normal range too. Needless to say, I am very depressed right now. Would love to hear any feedback.
Avatar f tn Those levels were normal(normal c-peptide and normal glucose levels), although a glucose challenge may also provide some information regarding more subtle issues with glucose handling. Based on those test results and his family history etc I think he will need close monitoring and repeat testing at regular intervals to get a handle on any abnormalities before they start affecting his growth. You seem to be on top of everything, so I am sure you will ensure he gets the best care. Take care.
Avatar f tn Even though your fasting glucose on that particular test was 92, your A1c indicates that there are times that your blood sugar levels are much higher than normal. You should ask for a Glucose Tolerance Test (GTT). GTT is a series of glucose tests done at 1 hr intervals, over a period of 3-4 hours, after drinking a very sweet, syrupy liquid. You should, also, talk to your doctor about getting a blood testing meter and keep track of your levels for a while, just to see what's going on.
Avatar n tn For a person that does not have diabetes readings should be in the normal range all of the time. Normal range varies from person to person but generally falls within the range of about 80-160 depending on the times and conditions leading up to the test. For example large meals right before the test will make it higher and exercise will make it lower.
Avatar n tn Before meals, a range of 70-126 is considered normal. After meals, glucose levels up to 140-something are considered normal. Your little one was probably crying so hard when his glucose levels were low because he felt bad... when glucose levels drop below about 70, we feel pretty awful. The high reading over 200 certainly is way above where the normal level should be, so I agree that he should be checked by a pediatrician.
Avatar n tn We are not physicians, so please check anything we write with your own physician. Your symptoms could be either high or low glucose, and the purchase of the glucometer is the best way to find out if abnormal glucose levels are the cause of your symptoms. The normal non-diabetic's glucose ranges from 70-126 when fasting. I have read that after meals, glucose levels can go up to about 146 before a person is considered in the diabetic range.
