Avatar n tn can quaritzone shots and synvisc shots done on the same day make my sugar levels go over 300? I have exersised and drank lots of water as well as frequent uriniation today, and levels were at 376 and have dropped finally to 335 which is still way to high.
Avatar n tn s for years then hope to reverse it, nor even those who are first diagnosed but have skyrocketing fasting glucose high levels say in the 300-400 mg/dl. To reduce the latter glucose levels will take some time with the continued lifetime use of medication. Just my opinion.
Avatar m tn Diabetics with glucose over 300 should be treated with a combination of two different insulins (Lantus which controls insulin levels over a 24 hour period and Apidra or rDNA insulin which is fast acting and generally taken before meals) and also Metformin. If this protocal is not being prescribed by his doctor I would have him schedule an appointment with a diabetic specialist because his current doctor does not know how to handle diabetic patients. 3.
Avatar n tn Not enough to make your sugar levels rise back to the 200 and 300 levels that your body may be looking for as normal, but about 4 ounces only. I find that juice or gatorade is quickly absorbed and if you are feeling a drop, a 4-6 ounce juice or gatorade drink may level off the drop so you don't feel bad. You could even go a tiny bit lighter on the carbs at breakfast time and then drink the juice about an hour later. Grazing lightly like this may keep you feeling good.
Avatar n tn Hi, if your a1c is 11.2 this means that your average blood sugars are over 300. This is terrible for your health and you are at risk for very serious complications along with stroke, heart attack, among others, in the very near future. Blindness, kidney failure, and wounds that won't heal are also high risk given your current levels. With your blood sugars this high you need to be taking insulin.
4117735 tn?1349962369 The reason asked is that I have been monitoring my glucose and it has been between 200 - 300, and I would like to lower my readings.
Avatar n tn My glucose level has been over 400 for more than a week. How serious is this. My doctor does not seem overly concerned made appointment for a week from now.
Avatar f tn Diabetes can be diagnosed by an eye doctor through a thorough exam. It's my understanding that glucose levels have to have been running amok for some time in order for the eye doctor to be able to pick it up. In order to go about this on the cheap, go to a big box discount store and by a blood glucose monitor and strips and test before and after eating and see where your levels are running.
Avatar n tn com, “Elevated blood glucose levels increase the loss of magnesium in the urine, which in turn lowers blood levels of magnesium.” So getting enough magnesium is especially important in diabetes. In spite of these benefits, medical authorities rarely recommend magnesium. That’s why I call it the forgotten mineral.
Avatar f tn The A1c test is used primarily to monitor the glucose control of diabetics over time. Depending on the type of diabetes that you have, how well your diabetes is controlled, and your doctor, your A1c may be measured 2 to 4 times each year. A 1% change in an A1c result reflects a change of about 30 mg/dL in average blood glucose. For instance, an A1c of 6% corresponds to an average glucose of 135 mg/dL, while an A1c of 9% corresponds to an average glucose of 240 mg/dL.
Avatar n tn Caffeine can make my glucose levels rise a couple of hours later also. Not always, but often. I compensate by testing a couple of hours after my first sip of coffee and compensating with a tiny bit of insulin if glucose levels are rising. I believe that in my case, my body starts producing adrenalin when the caffeine kicks in. And adrenalin can make sugars rise. So I suspect that this effect is different for different people.
Avatar f tn Prednisone is known to elevate glucose levels, especially when taken over a period of time. From what I have read after the first two to four weeks of treatment, your doctor will gradually decrease your dosage depending on your symptoms and the results of sed rate and C-reactive protein tests. For now you should speak with your Endocrinologist about adjusting your diabetes medication until you're off of Prednisone.
999058 tn?1257563650 If his numbers are higher, then restrict carbs, make sure he drinks plenty of water and get him in to see his Dr asap. If you measure readings over 300 you can take him to the ER.
Avatar f tn People who are having blood glucose levels over 300 can really be the meanest individuals. The higher the number, the worse the mood swings can be. The patients who are the "meanest" I've spoken to them at times when their blood glucose was 500, 800 and they are really mean, but it isn't them it is their blood glucose. Once they get down into lower ranges they are always the sweatest people. It is amazing how much they change. (And those levels are dangerous, too.
Avatar n tn I have found over the last several weeks that my glucose levels rise after exercise in the AM (I workout before eating), usually as much as 30-40 points (from 103 to 145 for instance). In the afternoon, my glucose levels usually fall between 20 - 25 points. Any ideas about what's going on? I do have an appointment with my doc in a couple of weeks and will talk with him, too, but I thought I'd try you out. Thanks!
Avatar f tn I falied both my 1 and 3 hour test :( both times my glucose levels were high. So I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Are u scheduled for the 3 hour one?
721243 tn?1230573586 My hubby says that if i domydiet well and exercise i can lower that but i am just afraid to use insulin. The range of my blood sugar is 150-300. If i get anxious that levels raises to 346. What can you tell me about this??
Avatar n tn He is visiting the VA hospital and they seemed to think that this could be controled by more carbs in his diet. Finally this week with levels over 300 he fell, and has no strenght at all to walk, or even use his arms. This of course is a very frighting thing for him and I have tried to encourage him by telling his that I feel that this is ALL related to his high levels. He is finally going in for insulin instruction today and is in a wheel chair.
