Common Questions and Answers about Glucose levels morning

glucose

Avatar m tn I had a full blood check up last week and my glucose levels came back as high for a morning reading at 9.2. I had some more tests today including a fasting test and a hba something or other. My question is soe this now mean i have diabetes. I am very much a night person regularly up til 4 in the morning and eating and drinking before i go to bed. I am white, not over weight and have no family history.
Avatar f tn I've been monitoring my blood sugar because my Hgba1c has been creeping up over the last couple of years from 5.6 to 5.8 and the last reading was 5.9. Yesterday I ate a salad and some brown rice for dinner at 7:30 and checked my blood sugar at 10:00 and it was 76. This morning at 6:00 it was 91. I'm trying to keep fasting levels, especially first morning, in the low 80's and don't understand what happened overnight to bring my blood sugar up to 91.
Avatar f tn Having glucose provides you with energy production for your workout. It can also prevent you from experiencing low levels of glucose, called hypoglycemia, which can lead to dizziness and fainting. Drinking fluids or eating foods that contain water before you exercise is also beneficial to avoid dehydration, which also impairs performance. Small meals or snacks should be eaten one to two hours before exercising, so this may be your best bet for your pre-workout meal.
Avatar n tn Johnson is a good one, for lowering your carbohydrate intake will probably lower your glucose readings and mild exercise even while pregnant is wonderful for you and can greatly reduce glucose levels (I have two children, and kept active throughout my pregnancies... you may not feel like doing exercise, but mild exercise will actually help increase your energy in those last months and will make you better fit for your upcoming delivery).
Avatar n tn is commonly associated with two conditions. Spinal stenosis and diabetes. With abnormal blood sugar levels in the morning the osmolality of tisues are affected, which causes fluid to exert pressure on nerves, causing numbness. After breakfast, as the sugar levels improves, the pressure relaxes and the numbness disappears. Thus, the first tests to take with "morning numbness" (assuming it is not positional are blood glucose and an hbcA1c.
173119 tn?1296999736 I am pre-diabetic, and I was wondering if it was normal for blood sugars to be a bit higher when suffering from an illness, like a cold. I have a cold right now, and my blood glucose levels have been testing slightly higher since I have been sick. Will they go back down after the cold is gone? My fasting glucose this morning was 133 and it is usually around 110 to 112. And my 2 hr post-prandial glucose after lunch today was 133.
Avatar n tn Recent lens implant medication is Pred-Forte 1%. THis has taken morning glucose over 300 where they are routinely 150. Please advise.
Avatar n tn Hello, IowaMom, from a fellow Iowan! Normal target glucose levels are between 80 and 120. Glucose levels rise in everyone depending on the food you eat, your body starts breaking the food down and absorbs the carbs before insulin is released to cover those carbs. A 144 bloood sugar isn't abnormal for anyone.
304573 tn?1345577338 Anyone start having problems with their blood glucose levels...seems I am becoming hyperglycemic.....
Avatar f tn In a person without diabetes, the glucose levels in the blood rise following drinking the glucose drink, but then then fall quickly back to normal (because insulin is produced in response to the glucose, and the insulin has a normal effect of lowing blood glucose.
Avatar n tn Chromium appears to play a role in normal insulin function and glucose utilization, and some investigators have suggested that it increases insulin sensitivity and glucose tolerance and decreases blood glucose levels in certain diabetics, possibly those with low chromium levels. However, others have not corroborated these findings, and a few have even reported a negative effect on glucose tolerance and blood levels.
Avatar m tn 8-10 hrs with no food or colored liquids. Normally first thing in morning before breakfast. Fasting and preprandial - 60/70 to 99 mg/dl Prediabetes - 100 to 125 mg/dl Diabetes - above 126 mg/dl 1b.Glucose levels Postprandial [2-3 hours post meal] Diabetics <141 mg/dl, optimum <121 mg/dl A 'normal' nondiabetic would average <99 mg/dl 1c. Random testing is useless. Test before walking then 15-20 mins after when your body has come to rest.
Avatar m tn I agree I noticed that in the morning and after exercise glucose levels were elevated, but from what you are saying, you have this well in hand, I would just keep doing what you are doing, I could never get my levels as good as yours.
Avatar m tn in non-diabetics it can show up as measurably increased insulin secretion or high fasting glucose levels around dawn.. First thing to do is either double check the glucose meter you are using against a simultaneous reading in a laboratory, or use another meter that has been validated in such a way to assure that the readings you are getting are accurate.
Avatar n tn I dont think it is a serious problem may be it is glucose levels that should be taken care then everything would be proper.
Avatar n tn I think if I pass the glucose then im going to keep on the diet and just take my morning glucose to make sure my sugar levels are fine
Avatar n tn Write down the result of the glucose test and also how you feel when you wake up in the morning and what your morning glucose test is. A pattern may develop of low during the night, with rising sugars in the morning. If this happens, your doctor may allow you to take your dose of Lantus in the morning so that its peak happens just before lunch, when you are due to eat anyway and when you are awake.
Avatar n tn We are not physicians, so please check anything we write with your own physician. Your symptoms could be either high or low glucose, and the purchase of the glucometer is the best way to find out if abnormal glucose levels are the cause of your symptoms. The normal non-diabetic's glucose ranges from 70-126 when fasting. I have read that after meals, glucose levels can go up to about 146 before a person is considered in the diabetic range.
Avatar m tn Average fasting sugar level in the morning : 125 mg/dl (varies from 120 to 129) Average sugar level after two hours of breakfast (After taking Metformin): 120mg/dl Average sugar level after two hours of lunch : 150 mg/dl Problem: 1) There is weight loss of about 6 Kgs in the past 2 years. My weight of 56 Kgs became 50 kgs now. How to regain my weight 2) Morning sugar level is as high as 125 mg/dl average.
231441 tn?1333892766 HHi Sally, It looks like you are doing good job of trying to optimize your health prior to trying to become pregnant, and that is definitely to be commended. A fasting of 100 mg/dL is just on the borderline of slight abnormality(impaired fasting glucose), as are your post-meal levels in the 150's(impaired glucose tolerance). I do suggest repeating the glucose tolerance test prior to trying to become pregnant, and also continuing to try to lose some weight.
Avatar m tn Low glucose levels are the most likely etiology. I know you say you "do not have diabetes", however I would like you to obtain a glucose meter, and take a blood stick. The shakiness and dizziness are hallmarks of low blood glucose levels..
Avatar n tn Hi, normal glucose levels are typically in the 4.4 - 6.6 range, so your levels are not actually low, nor would they be considered hypoglycemia. While everyone is different, dry and cottony mouth, with normal blood sugars is likely unrelated. Have they checked your insulin levels? Hope you can get to the bottom of this. Sounds befuddling.
1538488 tn?1331483305 You need to see an Endocrinologist for blood work. Your glucose levels are high, and the sooner you start treatment the better.
Avatar n tn There are several ways you can diagnose diabetes. Your level last night after one cup of soda is more representative of a random blood glucose. A random glucose of >200mg/dL with symptoms of diabetes is diagnostic of Type 2 Diabetes. Therefore, from that one measure, you do not have Type 2 Diabetes. However, your fasting sugar is within the pre-diabetic range. Are you pregnant? You posted in the gestation diabetes section which is diabetes within pregnancy. Hope that helps!
