Avatar n tn OK, glucose levels are pretty easy to explain. Since you posted on the type 2 forum I'm going to assume you want t2 figures. You also didn't tell us where you're from so I'm posting both measurement values - USA is mg/dl, Europe mmol/l. First thing in morning before breakfast is called preprandial. Normal levels are 60/70 to 99 mg/dl, or 3.33/3.88 to 5.5 mmol/l Prediabetes levels are 100 to 125 mg/dl, or 5.55 to 6.94 mmol/l Above the above is considered diabetes.
Avatar m tn Hi Joey, odd name for a mum, he can start by doing weight lifting, and lots of heavy work outs, for him the safest thing for his age would be Tribulus as its just a herb and would take around 8 weeks to get to full power. But just get lifting weights in a gym, and he or you need to tell his trainer why and what its for, and let them work on him.
Avatar n tn We have described best glucose levels in children as they grow and develop: Five and younger: Normal blood sugar targets are 100 to 200mg/dl. Age 5 to 11: Normal blood sugar targets are 70 to 150mg/dl. Fasting blood sugars should be nearer to 70mg/dL. Blood sugar after meals and before bedtime should be near 150mg/dL. Age 12 and older A healthy glucose level of age 12 and elder should be near 70mg/dl when fasting and 150mg/dl after meals.
Avatar n tn have you tested your glucose levels when these symptoms hit you? You may find that your glucose levels have dropped too low, for these are some of the symptoms of low blood sugar. Many people do mention tingling in hands when glucose levels drop too low. I would heartily recommend that the next time this happens, you do an immediate glucose test, and then perhaps test again about 45 minutes later.
Avatar n tn As other causes such as stress ,exercises and a recent meal intake may cause increase levels of glucose in the urine. This may be true in isolated cases. An initial work up may be necessary just to check blood glucose levels. Your BUN and Creatinine levels may also be checked to get a baseline evaluation of renal function.
Avatar m tn Low glucose levels are the most likely etiology. I know you say you "do not have diabetes", however I would like you to obtain a glucose meter, and take a blood stick. The shakiness and dizziness are hallmarks of low blood glucose levels..
Avatar m tn I had a full blood check up last week and my glucose levels came back as high for a morning reading at 9.2. I had some more tests today including a fasting test and a hba something or other. My question is soe this now mean i have diabetes. I am very much a night person regularly up til 4 in the morning and eating and drinking before i go to bed. I am white, not over weight and have no family history.
1461994 tn?1285897132 You don't seem in any danger at 90 glucose. Did you mention already if you were fasting each time you too the test. I assume you realize that you should be, but who knows. It can't hurt to ask.
Avatar n tn They starting gettin more sever ( extream dry moth, mental foginess, shaking, vomiting) so I went to the Dr. They tested my fasting glucose levels in the office (finger *****) and it was 227. I was immedicately sent to a lab for blood work. My gloucose level came back at 80. That was w/in half an hour. A week later I returned to the Dr. office they said I was "normal". I insisted on another test. They did another in office test (fasting again) and I came back at 180.
8734227 tn?1405101066 I just received a message from my dr office saying my levels were high in my one hour glucose test.. I tried to call them back as soon as I got out of work but the office is closed till tomorrow. . I know that I'm going to schedule a 3hour test.. my question is what do I do until I get my next test? What food should I stay away from? What foods would be best to eat? This is my first pregnancy and I don't want to harm my baby!! Any advice will be greatly appreciated! !!
Avatar n tn He requested blood work prior to her followup appointment. Her glucose levels were at 480. He thought it was strange that her primary care physician wasn't doing anything to control her glucose levels. He told her to contact her doctor immediately in regards to high blood glucose. This was on Monday. She had an appointment with her primary care physician on Tuesday anyways for an unrelated issue.
Avatar f tn Were you fasting before you went in? I got my test done and my results read 131. They explained to me abnormal or positive for gestational diabetes was 140 or above.
Avatar n tn My 18-mo-old had a fundoplication on is having very unstable glucose levels - his "episodes" have become more frequent and today was example: 6:30am - woke up SCREAMING his head off (after waking up every 2 hours during the night with excessive thirst and peeing through 4 diapers - 8pm-6:30am - this is a typical night for us for past 9-10 months).
Avatar f tn I falied both my 1 and 3 hour test :( both times my glucose levels were high. So I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes. Are u scheduled for the 3 hour one?
Avatar f tn The doctor said I had glucose in my urine. She is going to retest me again in 2 weeks. I went in 2 weeks ago for the sugar test and passed with a 131 cutoff is 135. So my question is has this happened to anyone else? Does this mean I am going to develop gestational diabetes?? I am not over weight but I do have a bad ice cream habit...been known to eat a pint of ben and jerrys a nite!!! Any input would be appericated..thanxs!!
Avatar f tn The oral glucose tolerance test is conducted by measuring blood glucose levels five times over a period of 3 hours. In a person without diabetes, the glucose levels in the blood rise following drinking the glucose drink, but then then fall quickly back to normal (because insulin is produced in response to the glucose, and the insulin has a normal effect of lowing blood glucose.
798555 tn?1292787551 I now know holy basil does indeed lower blood glucose as I have tested it in the AM fasting many times now (bought a cheap meter). Only issue is HB is kind of hard on the stomach. Dont like burping HB two hours after taking it.
Avatar n tn There's a post by Gus who asked the same question yesterday. Diabetes medicine Metformin helps to produce insulin in the gut to "help" lower your glucose levels. It doesn't perform miracles nor does it lower your glucose levels by itself. The key word is "help." Lifestyle change is required. This is done by controlling your glucose levels with proper nutrition, moderate exercise, and weight control. Read my posts in the threads from Darkestlight and Gus on this forum.
Avatar n tn In my 36 years with diabetes, I have noticed that sometimes I can FEEL the drop in glucose before my glucose levels get below normal. The symptoms that you describe can happen even when the actual number is normal at the time. In my case, when this happens it ALWAYS means that my glucose is on the way down towards hypoglycemia even if when i test it, my glucose is normal. If I test again in a half hour (and do not eat or drink any carbohydrates), the glucose will be low.
4943237 tn?1428991095 Hey you, I'm not sure stress is even a factor in what's happened, falls wouldn't typically cause a relapse (err if they could many of us would really be in a pickle :D ) but depending on the type of fall, I definitely think the additional physical issues resulting from the fall would be enough to exacerbate existing issues, fatigue etc and basically create a prolonged pseudo whilst your recovering, similar too what can happen with an infection induced pseudo.
