Avatar f tn Many doctors recently have discovered that the way to efficiently lose fat is via paying attention to what causes blood sugar levels rising. In fact, they also discovered that eating a healthy diet that doesn't spike blood sugar also enhances other healthful components in the blood, such as lipids and hormones. This helps you build better, stronger muscles and a healthy cardiovascular system to support it. The way of eating to do this is called LCHF.
Avatar n tn I am really trying to better understand blood glucose levels as they relate to a prognosis of diabetes, especially in relation to your diet and quantity of food.
Avatar m tn Furthermore, this is a quote from Yahoo Answers (hopefully I’m not breaking any laws by copying from their web site). “Taking Aloe vera in liquid form orally seems to reduce blood glucose levels, though marginally. Dose: about 15 ml (one table spoon) twice daily.” No harm in trying if you wish to pursue drinking aloe vera to lower your glucose levels then report back here in 6 months with your results. I would be interested, and I feel other readers too, in hearing from you.
Avatar m tn What you are experiencing is called Dawn Phenomenon and is quite normal in humans. During the night while sleeping your liver stores glucose [blood sugar] then releases glucose in anticipation of the energy needed upon awakening. To help prevent DP one can stop eating/snacking 2-3 hours b4 bedtime and also reduce carb intake at nightly meals. If you have the urge to munch, munch on something like nuts, or wheat/fiber crackers, or something that will not raise your glucose levels.
Avatar n tn Hello! I'm not a medical professional, just the parent of a kid with diabetes. The normal blood glucose ranges for anyone, child or not are between 80 and 120. Some doctors will say 70-110, but it's all in the same range. Now, that's the target, but depending on what is eaten for example, a healthy person's blood glucose can rise temporarily up close to 200. As long as the values return to normal after a couple hours, all is well.

Avatar n tn We have described best glucose levels in children as they grow and develop: Five and younger: Normal blood sugar targets are 100 to 200mg/dl. Age 5 to 11: Normal blood sugar targets are 70 to 150mg/dl. Fasting blood sugars should be nearer to 70mg/dL. Blood sugar after meals and before bedtime should be near 150mg/dL. Age 12 and older A healthy glucose level of age 12 and elder should be near 70mg/dl when fasting and 150mg/dl after meals.
Avatar n tn have you tested your glucose levels when these symptoms hit you? You may find that your glucose levels have dropped too low, for these are some of the symptoms of low blood sugar. Many people do mention tingling in hands when glucose levels drop too low. I would heartily recommend that the next time this happens, you do an immediate glucose test, and then perhaps test again about 45 minutes later.
304573 tn?1345577338 i have maintained healthy levels until the last few weeks and find my testing is showing higher than normal levels 3 hours after eating...also waking up with elevated levels in the morning(fasting)...just curious if the tx is exaserbating this or if i am slowing sinking into the type 2 which almost makes no sense as I am now eating for once in my life healthy and appropriately....

1461994 tn?1285897132 You don't seem in any danger at 90 glucose. Did you mention already if you were fasting each time you too the test. I assume you realize that you should be, but who knows. It can't hurt to ask.
Avatar m tn The information I have given you is fairly well-known among diabetics and doctors who work with diabetics, and we do know that stress affects hormone production and in metabolism rates, two things that play a big part in glucose levels in humans. I think those would be two basics to work from and to do more research on. I wish you the best while finishing your presentation for class.
Avatar n tn Talk about jacking up your glucose levels. In addition, the calorie count puts unnecessary weight around your midsection too - a BIG thumbs down. For your diabetes, the three key items in controlling and managing your diabetes are; proper nutrition, maintaining proper weight, and 30 minutes of daily physical exercise. The medication is there to 'help' you when you make ALL the aforementioned a daily habit. Medication will not lower your glucose levels by itself.

Avatar m tn Your pancreas is not dead! Diabetes type 1 is when the immune system destroys part of the pancreas that produces insulin, but leaves the rest perfectly intact. Type 2 is when nothing is destroyed, but for some reason, you're either not producing enough insulin, or the insulin that you produce is not efficient enough. There's a clear distinction between the two, as type 1 is autoimmune 'disease'. In all cases the pancreas is still performing all the other functions correctly.
Avatar f tn Regular exercise helps weight loss and also aids the body in reducing blood glucose levels. This helps the body use insulin more efficiently. "As a prediabetic, and possibly insulin resistant, should I be testing my glucose levels regularly?" Yes. Test times and necessary lifestyle changes one needs to make are mentioned often in other threads on this forum. If you care not to read them post back. "Should I go see an endocrinologist?
Avatar n tn This is really the best test to see if your glucose levels are healthy or not, for they do change from hour to hour and any one test can have a misleading reading. Perhaps you should see your doctor and have these tests run just to be on the safe side and to have some basic info about your glucose levels entered into your medical records in case things change at a later date.
Avatar n tn Get on a healthy diet. That's it. What is healthy for a pregnant person is the same diet as a non pregnant person would eat if they want to have a healthy life. Just during pregnancy no raw food deli n a few other things. Limit fish also. But other than that low fat n minimal junk food. Stick with chicken n salads. Fruits n white rice etc.
Avatar n tn As other causes such as stress ,exercises and a recent meal intake may cause increase levels of glucose in the urine. This may be true in isolated cases. An initial work up may be necessary just to check blood glucose levels. Your BUN and Creatinine levels may also be checked to get a baseline evaluation of renal function.
Avatar f tn Hello, my doctor found that I have "impaired glucose tolerance". My glucose numbers in tests where above >140 after two hours. He prescribed metformin 500mg (which I have been taking for a year). This week my sugar has been around 72 two hours after eating. And I haven´t felt well. The weird thing is that my glucose numbers are very low, and I still urinate very frequently...why is this???? Why are my glucose numbers so low after eating?.
Avatar m tn re late to catching your airplane flight makes the muscles and liver release stored glucose, in turn you burn this off. Continued exercise cause the muscles to store excess glucose for future use. This lowers your glucose levels. At this stage you already know you are prediabetic. There is no need for an A1c meter. This where the home glucose meter becomes a useful tool. I'm not certain of the health protocols in India regarding home glucose meter purchases.
Avatar n tn In a normal Non Diabetic person, what is the highest (peak ) Glucose levels that are usually attained. If the Peak is below 200 is this considered normal? or is it much lower?
Avatar m tn Low glucose levels are the most likely etiology. I know you say you "do not have diabetes", however I would like you to obtain a glucose meter, and take a blood stick. The shakiness and dizziness are hallmarks of low blood glucose levels..
