Glucose levels elevated

Common Questions and Answers about Glucose levels elevated

glucose

Avatar f tn In a person without diabetes, the glucose levels in the blood rise following drinking the glucose drink, but then then fall quickly back to normal (because insulin is produced in response to the glucose, and the insulin has a normal effect of lowing blood glucose.
1132307 tn?1357908608 For example if I go all night (8 to 10 hours) without anything my glucose levels are elevated in the morning so I now take a small glass of skim milk and about 10 almonds to bed with me. When I wake to go to the bathroom I eat the almonds and drink the milk before I go back to bed, my blood glucose is then fine in the morning. Having that little snack helps me get back to sleep too.
Avatar f tn If you google CSF lab results, you will find that an elevated glucose level is not significant. A low glucose level would be a bit more significant. Look it up on the web and hopefully that will answer your questions. Or someone in the group will come along and provide a good link. Lulu is really good at finding and providing testing links. What is your doctor telling you now?
Avatar m tn "Can pain (especially chronic pain such as with sciatic pain) cause blood sugar levels to remain elevated?" Very good question. It is to my understanding that chronic pain can raise glucose levels, such as when one becomes ill with the cold or flu. Illness not only affects your eating, sleeping, and exercise, it may cause the liver to make and release glucose into the bloodstream.
Avatar f tn Yeah, you should be a little concerned, though those are barely elevated levels. You might want to cut back on sugar and carb intake some. And watch your kidney function too since your sugar is consistently a bit high to see how your kidneys are doing.
Avatar n tn One cannot have sustained elevated glucose levels without being called a diabetic. But then you have to define your meaning of "sustained". If over 24 hours then diabetes comes to play. If an hour or two, or even three then my answer is no, I don't feel diabetes should be a concern. With proper nutrition, weight control and moderate exercise one can reduce their glucose to normal levels, without the aide of medication.

Avatar n tn s main ingredient is prednisolone, which is a corticosteroid [not be confused with Anabolic steroids], and it may/does raise glucose levels? Did you discuss the length of usage with the eye surgeon and also inform him/her you are diabetic? Depending on length your elevated morning glucose may be short lived. You might consider discussing with your Pharmacist an alternative eye drop that doesn't affect your glucose levels, then call your physician.
Avatar f tn The chief symptoms are fatigue/lethargy, severe weight gain, elevated glucose/glucose intolerance, excessive hair growth, high blood pressure, formation of stretch marks and psychological disturbances (depression/psychosis). The symptoms would be similar to the side effects of a synthetic corticosteroid, such as Prednisone. Consider a comprehensive endocrine work-up if the initial impression was adrenal dysfunction, as other endocrine causes may present with similar symptomatology.
1310035 tn?1305621642 elevated fasting glucose, elevated hemoglobin A1C, waist > 40" in males or >35" in females, decreased levels of HDL, etc. I don't remember the whole list. It is normally considered "pre-Type 2 Diabetes." and there is quite a bit that can be done with diet, exercise, weight loss, etc.
Avatar m tn With lemon juice, t2 diabetics can digest food easier without risking elevated glucose levels or putting their glucose levels at risk. So go ahead and enjoy those lemons.
Avatar n tn When people are ill, they produce some stress hormones, and these hormones can cause glucose levels to rise a little. That might explain your very SLIGHTLY elevated fasting number. The medicines might also cause an elevated number. In my humble opinion, your number is really pretty normal (the range that has been quoted to me as normal for a fasting glucose test is slightly different from the one you gave... the numbers my endocrinologist uses are 70-126).
Avatar f tn Yes, as I understand it, glycated hemoglobin is the attachment of glucose to hemoglobin, a globular protein molecule. It is a measure of blood sugar levels over about three months time and is elevated when blood sugar has been elevated. I'm looking for information on what levels of blood sugar typically result in glycation. I have not seen my blood sugar go over 127, and I'm wondering what level I should be keeping it under in order to lower my Hgba1c.
1084115 tn?1385228589 Studies are finding even slightly elevated glucose levels (pre-diabetic) can have adverse effects on the body. The normal cutoff with most labs is 100 but ideally people should try and keep their glucose level below 85. The metabolic syndrome and type II diabetes is becoming an epidemic in most of the world. If people only knew how much damage elevated glucose does to the body, i.e. heart , vascular & kidney disease. Just to name a few.
Avatar m tn I agree I noticed that in the morning and after exercise glucose levels were elevated, but from what you are saying, you have this well in hand, I would just keep doing what you are doing, I could never get my levels as good as yours.
580765 tn?1274919360 According to Emedicine, elevated glucose levels in the CSF is a non-specific finding but may indicate that the blood glucose level might have been elevated at the time. Do you have records of your blood work from that same day? A blood draw is done on the same day you have your LP so they can perform all the testing concurrently, i.e. blood and spinal fluid. If you do have the results, see what you glucose levels were.
Avatar n tn I am following a client with NIDDM, who has significantly elevated IGF1 levels. BUT his GH is suppressible and is 0. 3ng/ml baseline. IGF1 levels are 300+ng/ml (75-<228 ). What else could give IGF1 elevation. I don't know whether he is taking IGF1 (I just notice on these sight s that it can be purchased on line.)I will enquire specificall as to supplements.
Avatar f tn Ive recently got this diagnosis due to slightly elevated blood glucose levels. Im now monitoring my levels everyday. Try to alter your diet, avoid fizzy/sugary drinks and foods and minimise your carb intake (i.e have smaller portions of potatoes, rice, bread...instead go for better carb options like brown rice, rye bread etc and keep the portions small of these small). Increase your vegetable portions and meat protein if you're not vegetarian.
1666903 tn?1383332156 I have not had any glucose testing yet, but had the impression my glucose levels were creeping up (I have NIDD Type II). Started Lamictal a little over a month ago an gradually increased dose, on 100 mg now and my glucose is unquestionably elevated above 175, I am going in for a blood test to confirm this and ask my doc what to do about it. Both drugs are helping with my bipolar.
Avatar f tn On average, normal glucose levels typically peak at 160 180 mg/dl (8.89 10 mmol/l) from 30 minutes to 1 hour after administration of the oral glucose dose, and should then return to fasting levels of 140 mg/dl (7.78 mmol/l) or less within a 2- to 3-hour period." thank you for your help!
Avatar f tn Are testing your glucose with a home meter? What are your glucose levels preprandial [b4 breakfast] and postprandial [2-3 hrs after a meal]? If your levels remain elevated above normal do not stop the Metformin. If you have normal fasting levels [preprandial] and normal postprandial levels notify your doctor of your intentions to stop Metformin 72 hrs prior to the test. Do NOT stop unless your doctor authorizes you to do so.
Avatar n tn Elevated glucose levels cause symptoms such as you describe. They are ruling out an insulin utilization syndrome. Generally oral glucose tolerance tests are not performed. these days. Instead a blood test known as an HbA1C is performed, which establishes the glucose levels over the previous three months. Not that there is anything wrong with taking the glucose tolerance test.
