Avatar f tn Glucose intolerance is when the body does not utilise the glucose in your body properly and the fasting blood glucose level is above 6.0 mmol/L or your blood glucose level is over 7.8 mmol/L 2 hours after consuming 75g of glucose. At this stage, with life style changes and exercises, you can still avoid getting diabetes. You could say it is pre diabetes. The symptoms of glucose intolerance can be those of hyperglycaemia and also tingling sensations.
1448936 tn?1363206346 They are looking for a ton of different things. It would be impossible for me to list for you everything they are looking at. There is no reason to worry about all these tests before you get the results back. When you get the results back I'd be happy to look at them and analyze them. These tests will not show lactose intolerance though.
Avatar m tn What are your Free T3 and Free T4 levels? Please post them, with reference ranges, which vary from lab to lab and have to come from your own report. TSH does not cause or alleviate symptoms. It's the actual thyroid hormones that cause (or alleviate) symptoms, with Free T3 correlating best. Your A1c indicates that you have diabetes and that's what's causing your symptoms of frequent urination, weight loss, etc. Are you keeping track of your daily fasting blood sugars?

11294269 tn?1422402907 I got my results back from the one hour glucose test. It was 170. I have to go for a 3 hour test. My. doctors office said that just because i failed the first doesn't mean ill fail the next. Is 170 really bad? If i do fail to what happens next? Im a ftm... So nervous.
Avatar f tn I agree with what Barb has said. I would also add that the thyroid med is not a likely contributor to the weight gain, if you had questions about that. It is possible that your thyroid hormone levels are not adequate to get your metabolism to the right level for you. If you will please post your thyroid test results, and their reference ranges shown on the lab report, members will be glad to assess the adequacy of your testing and test levels.
Avatar n tn bacterial overgrowth was negative, lactose intolerance was negative but fructose intolerance was positive. My control number was 11 and the end number was 44...I was told anything resulting in +20 (so mine would be 31) is positive. Okay, so here are my questions...what does the 44 mean (if anything) low intolerance, high intolerance?
Avatar n tn Women with PCOS have an increased risk for diabetes or glucose intolerance or insulin resistance. If you are obese with increased body mass index and if you lose weight, exercise and eat a good glycemic index diet then you can improve your PCOS. If you have diabetes or glucose intolerance then Metformin can help you as well to control your blood sugars. Therefore there is a lot you can you with diet, exercise, weight loss to improve your condition.

1422878 tn?1284584593 Other causes are diabetes and hypothyroidism. Electrolyte imbalance too can cause nausea. IBS, gluten or lactose intolerance, parasites in gut too can be the cause. A stool test should be done for worms, giardiasis etc. Also if nothing is found then food challenge test to detect food intolerance should be done. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

Avatar m tn I would suggest that you make an appointment to see your doctor and ask if you can have a glucose intolerance test and do a HBA1C blood test. a HBA1C blood test will show the average glucose levels in the blood stream over a period of approximately 3 months. It may be that you have an insulin intolerance. This means that your pancreas is producing insulin, but this is not being used adequately by your body.
Avatar f tn I have a glucose intolerance so all they did for me was fasting bloodwork... had me eat and took my blood again in two hours...
Avatar f tn Impaired Glucose Tolerance A person is said to have impaired glucose tolerance when the 2-hour glucose results from the oral glucose tolerance test are greater than or equal to 140 but less than 200 mg/dl. This is also considered a risk factor for future diabetes. There has recently been discussion about lowering the upper value to 180 mg/dl to diagnose more mild diabetes to allow earlier intervention and hopefully prevention of diabetic complications.
