Avatar f tn ve seen mulitple doctors and every test comes back normal. Could this be caused by oral contraceptives or from my daily use of two different anti-biotics to treat acne and vaginal strep B? I look like I'm pregnant and I'm uncomfortable all the time.
Avatar f tn A number of studies have shown that oral contraceptives seem to increase the risk of kidney disease in type 1 diabetic women. See the website listed below: http://www.diabetes.org/diabetes-research/summaries/ahmed-birth-control.jsp There are other contraceptive methods available: IUDs or diaphragms won't have any effect on glucose levels or other health issues. Nor will condoms.
Avatar m tn I believe that the benefits pf statins outweigh the risks and have altered my eating lifestyle so to nearly exclude carbohydrates. This has enabled me to continue statin regime while keeping my fasting blood glucose levels at acceptaptable unmedicated levels. My wife on the other hand continues to take Metformin while on the statin drug.
Avatar f tn Glucose intolerance is when the body does not utilise the glucose in your body properly and the fasting blood glucose level is above 6.0 mmol/L or your blood glucose level is over 7.8 mmol/L 2 hours after consuming 75g of glucose. At this stage, with life style changes and exercises, you can still avoid getting diabetes. You could say it is pre diabetes. The symptoms of glucose intolerance can be those of hyperglycaemia and also tingling sensations.
Avatar n tn There seems to be a connection with Crohn's pain and oral contraceptives, so the same might hold true with estrogen replacement. http://www.crohns.org.uk/Docs/5/The%20oral%20contraceptive%20pill%20and%20Inflammatory%20Bowel%20Disease.
Avatar f tn However I would recommend you see a doctor and take medication under a doctor’s supervision. If you are on contraceptive depot shot or take oral contraceptives, then this can cause acidity and make you feel as though you are hungry due to lot of acid. H pylori infection of the gut is another possibility which can be ruled out by carbon urea breath test. The other possibility is diabetes, hyperthyroid states and worms in the gut. All can keep you hungry 24x7.
Avatar m tn What are your Free T3 and Free T4 levels? Please post them, with reference ranges, which vary from lab to lab and have to come from your own report. TSH does not cause or alleviate symptoms. It's the actual thyroid hormones that cause (or alleviate) symptoms, with Free T3 correlating best. Your A1c indicates that you have diabetes and that's what's causing your symptoms of frequent urination, weight loss, etc. Are you keeping track of your daily fasting blood sugars?
Avatar f tn Breakthrough bleeding(bleeding while taking the active pills of combined oral contraceptives, or other hormonal contraceptives),spotting and changes in menstrual flow are common side effects after starting the oral contraceptives and they are frequent while taking the triphasic contraceptive(orthotricyclen). Breakthrough bleeding is most common when a woman first begins taking oral contraceptives, or changes from one particular oral contraceptive to another.

Avatar f tn I am 43 years old, I used oral contraceptives for more than 7 years. Now, I have this yellowish fluid discharges in my left breast nipple for about 4 years now. Avatar f tn I was referred by my OB/GYN to a reproductive endocrinologist due to a lack of periods after stopping oral contraceptives. The biggest concern was a lack of ovulation, since we were TTC. I had a few symptoms of PCOS, but not enough to have a firm diagnosis. I am within normal range for weight with no recent fluxuations, no problems with hair loss or acne, no signs of diabetes, insulin resistance, or thyroid imbalances.
Avatar f tn Madam, I got married in 2004 and was blessed with a girl child in April '05. On the advice of a gynaec doctor I started using oral contraceptives (Mala-D) from April '06 on the assurance of the doctor that they are 100% safe. Everything was normal. For the last 6 months I observed a gradual decrease in bleeding during periods. Atlast when 15th June '09 was my actual due date, I did not get my periods till month end.
Avatar n tn When a woman is taking oral contraceptives and has to also take antibiotics (such as Cipro) that could decrease the effectiveness of the oral contraceptives, it is recommended that she use a back up method of contraception (i.e. a condom) during the entire time she is on the antibiotics and for 7 days after she stops taking the antibiotics. For more information, you may want to consult with a health care provider or a pharmacist." I would still advise you to check with your doctor.
Avatar m tn My Tsh came back at .49 from 1.93 where I feel great! In 15 I never had an issue! I am due to get full panel thyroid tests in 3 weeks!
Avatar f tn Hi - using oral contraceptives as been reviewed as a possible cause of GM, however there must be another causative factor, or existing disposition, along with a history of use of oral contraceptives, or millions of women (using oral contraceptives) would have GM; just as many arthritis conditions are caused by having some sort of genetic predisposition, so that when a person with that genetic makeup is exposed to for example, simple food borne organisms, it can trigger a reactive arthritis, whi
Avatar n tn These drugs may interfere with blood glucose control because they can cause hyperglycemia, glucose intolerance, new-onset diabetes mellitus, and/or exacerbation of preexisting diabetes. MANAGEMENT: Close clinical monitoring of glycemic control is recommended if these drugs are coadministered with antidiabetic agents. Likewise, patients should be observed for hypoglycemia when these drugs are withdrawn from their therapeutic regimen. Dose adjustments of the hypoglycemic agent may be required.
Avatar n tn bacterial overgrowth was negative, lactose intolerance was negative but fructose intolerance was positive. My control number was 11 and the end number was 44...I was told anything resulting in +20 (so mine would be 31) is positive. Okay, so here are my questions...what does the 44 mean (if anything) low intolerance, high intolerance?
Avatar m tn I would suggest that you make an appointment to see your doctor and ask if you can have a glucose intolerance test and do a HBA1C blood test. a HBA1C blood test will show the average glucose levels in the blood stream over a period of approximately 3 months. It may be that you have an insulin intolerance. This means that your pancreas is producing insulin, but this is not being used adequately by your body.
Avatar f tn My husband and I are not currently trying to conceive. My question is in regards to the long-term effects of oral contraceptives on the menstrual cycle. Does anyone know if taking oral contraceptives (The Pill) can permanently change your menstrual cycle, even after you stop taking them? I used to always have really regular (28ish day long) cycles, but my last few have been almost a week longer than normal.
Avatar f tn I have the oral contraception.
